I have used other planners. but i have found the bosch to the best one to me. we do a lot of trim work where hand planning is needed. it is light and balanced. makes edge planing 3/4, on site, easy. powerful little motor is a plus. would definitely recommend.

When my 3258 planner died after 13 years of perfect performance I was sad that it's design had been changed. I replaced it with a 1594K and I have to say the new design is quite poor and unworthy of Bosch. Since the 1594's purchase I have nicked or damaged several finished surfaces due to it's weak park rest spring. The 3258 model was perfect and should have left it alone, or at the very least made the 1594 with a electric brake. I will continue to be a diehard Bosch fan, minus the new planner.

Comments about Bosch Tools 3.25" Planer with Carrying Case:
This product is great as it allows you to throw dust in either direction and not in your face. I wanted this planer to assist with cabinet installations. It is a vital tool for making prefect scribes. However the Bosch planer lacks a continuous switch function. For me that is a deal breaker. I like the planer be able to run and not have to hold the switch at the same time. It allows me to grip the tool in a more comfortable manner. In turn that allows me to make better scribes.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

First power hand planer ...
from south central nebraska
First power hand planer for me, light and easy to use, sufficient power. Really like the either-side dust collector, I attached a hose to a shop vac and had virtually no escaped chips or dust. I used it to plane down floor joists to level a floor, worked great.

This tool gets the job done. I am so glad I bought the 2 blade system. I have had to plane a lot of doors recently, and this tool has made it a breeze to do the job.
powerful and sharp
from Upstate N
I used this to plane down some areas in a old house to match a new floor I was putting in. The tool effortlessly removed the excess and in no time, the area was down to where it matched the new floor. The rotating discharge allowed me to aim the waste to whichever side I needed it to go. I did hit a old nail that I didn't see but it was very easy to replace the blades and took very little time. I have seven Bosch power tools and have never been dissapointed in any of them. Another great tool
Worth the money
from Oak Creek, WI
There are a lot of planers around that are cheaper but I wanted the bevel guide and I'm glad I spent the extra money. I used it on three slab doors I installed with five more to go and it worked fine. I'm the kind of guy that needs all the accessories but I could't find them all at one site. I had to shop around. The owners manual talked about a washer that is included for the guide but none was included.

Purchased a month ago to use on hickory and oak trim. Light, easy to handle , easy to set depth , bag collectes majority of material to keep work area clean and dust free.
Unusable out of box
from Southern Connecticut
Product was unusable out of the box. The front shoe was misaligned compared to the rear shoe - no adjustment is possible. When planing, it cut angled grooves in surface instead of making them smooth. Upon return to store, all on shelf were also misaligned.
A hand planer with a adjustable fence fits the bill for the job i need it for
I've owned several planers, this Bosch planer has satisfied my needs in all that I've needed to do, from cabinet making to general contracting needs. The fence takes some getting use to, but once you get the feel for it, it works fine!
this is the first one i bought. never had any problem, don't want different one
