This is my first bottom freezer refridgerator. I needed the unit to fit into a specific place in my kitchen. I was checking measurements online and was convinced that the bottom freezer units only came in a very wide style. This unit fits perfectly. The upper refrigerator secton is very spacious and I love how wide it is. I can actually put deli trays in for parties and still have plenty of left over space. The compartments are all very sturdy and I love the small drawer under the crispers for my meats and cheeses. I am still getting used to bendng down for an ice cube for a glass of tea but overall I love this appliance. We are switching our kitchen to black appliances and this refridgerator is so pretty and shiny it is more like a piece of art. Unlike stainless, finger smudges wipe off easily. We hope the energy saving is good. It is much quieter than our last refridgerator. It's a perfect choice for me.

I replaced my microwave, range, dishwasher, and refreigeratior with Whirlpool products this August. My referigerator was delivered on September 18, 2015 after being on back order for one month. I like the style of the appliances and the fit and finish is very good. I like the French door style. This refrigerator was perfect for my needs. Spacious enough, easy to see all items, well lit, drawers move easily. I am still getting used to the freezer and trying to figure out the most efficient way to arrange items in it. All was going well until today, a Sunday. While cooking for the week, I noticed the refrigerator was running for a long time. I didn't give it too much thought because I was in and out of the kitchen and assumed it could have stopped running for a while. That is, until I opened the freezer compartment and was greeted by what looked like a scene from White Christmas. The entire freezer compartment was covered in frost/ice. Of course, being a Sunday there was no customer service available from Whirlpool, the small retailer from whom I purchased the appliances was closed, and the local Whirlpool service company was closed. All I could do was turn the freezer/refrigerator off for about 15 minutes in hopes to reset it, take out all my items to remove the frost/ice, wipe out the freezer compartment. The Refrigerator User Instructions booklet was not helpful. I cannot move the refrigerator to unplug it in hopes of perhaps resetting it because the instruction manual does not explain how to release the stoppers on the bottom of the unit to move it. I am hoping nothing is leaking under the refrigerator. As a single working person, this is an extreme inconvenience. I am a Whirlpool household (dehumidifier, air purifier, and washer/dryer) and selected Whirlpool because of the quality of its products. I am questioning Whirlpool's quality now. When a product performs like this in less than a month of use, there is a design or manufacuturing problem. During graduate school, I lived in housing that had what I would call low scale appliances and never had to call a landlord about a refrigerator problem. Even the less than $400 refrigerator that was in my condo when I bought it never gave me any problems over the last eleven years. But my brand new Whirlpool did. The jury is still out on how I would rate this product. Customer service and appliance performance over the next months will determine whether or not I recommend it or return it for another brand. By the way, the refrigerator is still running, six hours straight, but at least no new frost/ice for now.

Comments about Whirlpool Black French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator:
This is a great looking refrigerator. This is my first refrig with double doors, so having to remember to close the left door first to get a good seal before closing the right, takes some time getting used to. (4 stars). The shelves are well placed. I seem to be opening the right side door more frequently, so I assume this is saving energy by not letting a lot of cold air out all at once opening one big door. I prefer a bottom freezer and like that Whirlpool's stainless steel cabinet because I can stick magnets on it.

NEW fRENCH DOOR FRIDGE WITH FREEZER ON THE BOTTOM
from Nantucket, MA
We like our new refrigerator very much but have two concerns as follows. When the left refrigerator door is closed it sometimes makes the right hand door pop open and not close tightly. Second concern is the bottom freezer. The front of the freezer seems to freeze up - sometimes so much that the light freezes in the "off" position - this continues even tho we lower the temperature in the freezer. Any suggestions on how to remedy these situations?.

There isn't a thing I don't like about this refrigerator! Love the french doors which can be opened independently and the freezer drawer on the bottom just makes so much sense. I have no trouble finding things and its FULL. I spent weeks researching for the right size, make and energy efficiency....this was the one.
works great but noisy
exactly what i wanted. looks great, runs great, but noisy
This Whirlpool is so much better than the GE we had
By PA Camper
from Camp Hill, PA
We purchased this refrigerator to replace a GE that was only 10 years and 4 months old. This make is of a better quality - our only complaint is that we don't care for the "Party Tray" - and we miss the butter compartment.

Don't like turntable in microwave--difficult to clean up spills. Also, rack inside makes it tough to fit bowls inside. I just removed it--unnecessary.
Love the doors
Needed a new fridge in a hurry, this one was available on the floor at my local appliance store. They gave me a great deal
