Was an Ipad user for years. But, it always seemed as just a portable consumption device, used to just consume and read things. When I got my Samsung Note Pro 12.2, I really had something that I could be productive with. This device along with the LectureNotes application was a life changer. I can select and capture notes from Kindle books and annotate them with handwritten notes. I can proofread papers that my kids wrote, annotate with handwritten notes and share with them with unlimited ways. I have been out of college for years, but this tablet would have been killer in college to take notes with. I also tried the Surface Pro and it is a nice device and is very productive. But, has no applications and especially does not have LectureNotes. You also have to constantly switch between the native tablet OS and the Windows OS. With the Samsung Note Pro 12.2, you stay within one OS with plenty of applications. Don't waste your money on any other tablet, this is the real deal!

I used my original Note 10.1 every day and love the S pen. I thought that the 12.2 would be a nice upgrade but it has proved to be a frustrating device that lacks some of the features of the original. The speakers are positioned on the sides now instead of the front and are of poorer quality. It also comes with a lot of bloatware which I'm used to on Sammy phones but not the tablets. It is now impossible to disable the built-in calendar which overrides the Google Calendar when accessing calendar links. The built-in in calendar offers some of the functionality of the Google Calendar but not all and is a UI nightmare, truly ugly and difficult to navigate. It is a source of daily frustration. On the plus side the screen resolution and overall speed is great, however I don't think I would buy this again purely because of built in apps.

samsung pro 12.1
from San Jose
I have so much expectation on this tablet since I have galaxy S4 phone, galaxy note 8 and galaxy tab 10. I loved all of them and was expecting that this is a higher end version of my previous samsung devices. But I was disappointed because, my notes do not sync to my s4 and note 8 and feel is not the same as when i use my note 8 in handwriting notes. Moreover, my Snote on this device keeps on crashing making unreliable in notes taking for my classes. Image is also not that sharp as described.

Brilliant display/graphics but Samsung S-Pen difficult to understand how to use
from Minneapolis, MN
I love the screen clarity and its brightness, even on a low display setting. Trying to use the S-Pen is hard if you want to do it right/easy. I mean using it isn't an intuitive process, you have to read really complex tutorials, and my goodness there are A LOT of tutorials. I found I have to just learn one and practice it and after that is mastered I can move onto another, even that can be hard though because each tutorial refers to language explained in different tutorials than what you are in. I have had this tablet for about 6 weeks and found it to be pretty bug free until just the last 2 times I have turned it on it had frozen on me but seems to be working fine though now since I uninstalled a few apps. It's crazy that the apps I have on my cell phone of a different brand and a different Internet provider automatically just loaded to my Samsung tablet, not all of them, but about 80% of them. I though that was an interesting feature but would've liked to have had the option to pick and choose which apps automatically installed. The pen, as far as using it without a program, like to 'swype' type is very convenient and the screen & tablet are very responsive. There is a button on the pen that I accidently press allot when using it which inevitably opens up a program or app, just a little bit of a hassle. I do especially love the top of the pen as it really comes down to a blunt tip about the size of the end of a ballpoint pen which makes it easy to select buttons/links that are small and would be annoying to try & hit with your fat ol' finger even if you have tiny fingers. The battery life is long however I think it is not nearly as long as it is claimed to be if you do a movie marathon. I find that about 6 movies all in a row will just about drain your batteries, which is really only about 9 hours, give or take depending on the movies. On the opposite side of that coin, if your are only using apps or the Internet then the battery life is wonderful, perhaps even Tremendous. I would also give the screen a 'Tremendous' rating for quality, responsiveness, clarity, brightness and its brilliant. The spelling suggestions are pretty good and I feel like the more I use it the more it gets to know me and how I type in terms of words I commonly use together, spelling and alternate spellings of course are nice and as on virtually everything it is easy to use. So altogether I would say this tablet is a 'Tremendous' minus, there is always room for improvement, like on this device improving ease of using the pen with its many programs/apps,which I'm sure are all awesome if you can figure out how to use them. Haupt tablet hunting!
Samsung electronics are best!
from Beaverton, Or
Samsung smartphones and tablets are the best! Best style, quality, features and dependability. Compared to all other similar devices, Samsung stands tallest. I have been really enjoying the Samsung Galaxy Note products.
Favorite tablet ever!
from Omaha, NE, USA
I needed a new Android tablet to replace my previous one. Really liked the features I saw online on this tablet. After getting it and working with it, I continue to be more and more impressed with it! I use it for work, home, church and play and have not run into anything I can't do well on it.

Excellent Hardware - Magazine UI is a waste of space
from Seattle, WA, USA
I love using android because it can be customized to suite my needs. I have had two generations of Galaxy Note phones, and I've loved them, so I thought this would be the perfect tablet. As expected, the hardware is excellent - fast, responsive, beautiful, nice screen, and the s-pen is great for taking notes and drawing. My one complaint about the product is that the Magazine UI cannot be deactivated. There are only a handful of apps that are compatible with the UI, all of which pale in comparison to apps on the google play marketplace, so I find myself not using the Magazine UI at all. It really is just a waste of space, and I wish I could remove it from my home screen without having to load a different launcher program to hide it. This device is supposed to be for power users, and those users demand customization to match their workflows. Magazine UI prevents this. In short, Samsung is great at hardware - this tablet is much better than my wife's ipad. I love android because of the customization aspect, however, and the Magazine UI takes a little of that away, which is disappointing. I hope that Samsung will allow us to remove the Magazine UI in future updates.

Could use a better camera
from New York, NY
I am totally in love with my tablet. The best I've ever had: good battery life, excellent size, responsive, and very beautiful. The camera could be a little better, and there could be features like in the Galaxy S4 phone, but I totally love it as is.
This product is everthing I hopped it would be and more.

The product features and included apps make it a true business tablet. I can leave my laptop behind. it is great!

I wanted this tablet mainly for the size of the screen. It has so much more to offer other than size. So many things you can do with this thing, it is great for work and personal use. Everything from screen size to features to apps is great. Love it
