So this camera's actually been available in Asia for about a week now and so I picked it up in Shanghai. I've played with the NEX 3/5 series from a colleague of mine so I made the dive to switch from Canon to Sony. Overall I think the photos are beautiful and the focus is fast and all that. My 2 complaints really are that there is no microphone jack so shooting any interviews really can't be done well here. Secondly I think in general the wifi/nfc stuff is just kind of buggy, the interfaces to link up to your phone and laptop are great when they work, but that's a big if. These are not really intuitive to setup and there's a ton of Mac software all randomly on the web after googling but there's no one consolidated place to find all that i need for let's say wireless transfer vs. remote control etc.

Dear Sony, your marketing team didn't not realize that opting out 60p recording with 28Mbps max bit rate to A6000 will cost thousand plus more for underwater setup! You could fix that with a simple A5000 firmware update and make a lot of people happy! Because of A5000 size, image quality with new 20Mp sensor and manual video controls, during recording(Aperture, ISO(100-3200) and Shutter speed), it already makes A5000 a very good camera... but... If you do that 60p recording update with ISO bump to 6400 for videos, it will become a very desirable up-to-date one! And don't worry, you still will have 24Mp sensor, burst rate and image quality advantage on A6000 model... Plus, it's not year 2010 any more, 4K is already here and 1080p@60fps recording is available on $200 point and shoot cameras! Also, AVCHD is ageing, it's about the time to include something else, like MOV or a standard 1080p frame MP4 codec at 30 and 60 FPS, with at least double bitrate, at 24Mbps and higher! Canon did 35Mbps 60p MP4 for all Vixias and Panasonic has 28Mbps 60p MP4 codec for GXs and GH3s since last year... so, catch up! I, personally, will be more happy with 60p 24Mbps MP4 than 28Mbps AVCHD! And at last, there should be enough battery charge for a full day of camera usage, especially when people travel. All these EPA standards with number of shots are obsolete! With bigger screens and extra features such as GPS and WiFi(NFC) cameras need more juice to last the same amount of time... latest tablets, PDAs, cell phones and laptops already last over 10 hours why not the cameras? Okay, You can say, have a spare one or two and problems solve, yes, I always have an extra battery and I usually can change it... but... what if I am on the boat, or an island, or in jungle and it's raining... got the picture? Sony, you always was the best one with the batteries, but they are all the same as far as I remember 1000-1200mAh... so how about making 3600 - 4800mAh new ones?

Comments about Sony Black A5000 Mirrorless Digital Camera 16- 50mm Lens:

Amazing camera in all aspects, and great value. This is a product I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a transition form a point and shoot to a professional camera. My only concern is the lens cap should come with a string to attach to the camera so its not easily lost.

Comments about Sony A5000 DSLR White Camera And 16 - 50mm Lens:

For me is the sony alpha5000 good hobby camera. But very disapointing is the fact that the sensor in the camera is notisable slow and horible noisy. With this camera don't think that you can ever get 20Mpix in every detail. It is maximaly 16Mpix. But I don't believe that there is beter camera for this money in the market at this time. Sony please don't do steps backwards...

Great Working Camera

Comments about Sony A5000 DSLR White Camera And 16 - 50mm Lens:

I'm really happy with the A5000 Sony camera. The pictures are clear & crisp, videos are great and there are many different settings to work with. I wanted to go beyond the $150 cameras but not to the $500+ range so this one was perfect and had the features I most wanted (flip screen, panorama & zoom while video recording).

Mirrorless Camera

from Gales Ferry, CT 06335, USA

Comments about Sony A5000 DSLR White Camera And 16 - 50mm Lens:

1. Not as small as you think. 2. No provision to hold lens cover - should have a opening to attach a string. 3. Option to imprint date on picture not available. This is not too difficult for Sony to do. 4. The WiFi option worked. 5.

Comments about Sony A5000 DSLR White Camera And 16 - 50mm Lens:

If I could write something without any story behind the reasons for buying this, it would be boring for me. This cost less than the point and shoot Sony I got in 2004. both purchased with accessories. This time I got an extra lens also. This camera is the same Size as my old cybershot DSC 100 but is oh so good and fast. The shutter is quick. lt takes continuous multiple shots, with Bracketing if needed. There are a lot of options. More than some DSLRs. Funny Story, my wife made me return a Sony Camcorder Thanksgiving sales 2013. In reaction I kept my eye on Sony Cameras Thanksgiving 2014 and purchased this. I use a Nikon D90, which is a super amazing camera, but with a zoom lens it gets bulky and heavy, . not really practical (for me) to take to the park with Kids on a regular basis. But the D90, a full DsLR, is way easier to use though. The alpha 5000 is very compact and has most of The options in my DSLR. And Some other ones. The functions and options are Just insane. Do not get easily intimidated by all the functions. Read the manual it you can online. The help features are very nice. Press the help button to learn more about the function you have selected. Photos and videos can be taken with a wide array of effects options. Jpeg. RAW, AvCHD, MPEG4. multiple formats supported. My initial results were not very good. I learnt a bit more and lowered the iso setting. Sometimes I do need to lower the EV value a bit. The camera does have a learning curve. Any option you need to Choose, it has to be through a menu. Some options options can be programmed into the few buttons on the camera. There is no viewfinder which in normal for this level of camera and no flash shoe. The menu item locations are not easy to remember and there are A lot of them. But that is part of the fun. I would Not buy a regular point and shoot any more. Spend little extra and get into the world of mirrorless cameras. It takes reasonably good movies also and excellent photoS, however the user must be a bit more knowledgeable about photography and Camera features. For beginners intelligent Auto modes can be good.
