LOVE LOVE LOVE this refrigerator. Had Frigidaire before and would never buy another one. Spent a lot of time comparing refrigerators, reading reviews, consumer reports before purchasing one. WE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE !!!! This LG is SUPER roomy. I love the interior configuration. I put lazy susan spinners on the top shelf to keep all of my small jars organized and prevent things piling on top of each other. The doors have tons of room - I can put 2 1-gallon containers in 1 bin; a 1/2 gal of reg milk, 1/2 gal of almond milk and half n half in another bin. Plenty of room for juices, beverages, tall condiments (ketchup, mayo, mustard, steak sauce etc in the other bins - keeps main body shelving free for other items. One my favorite features is the size and position of the deli tray. TONS of room and easy accessibility for bacon, cheese, yogurts, chocolate, small items that you want to see yet often get pushed and shoved in a regular fridge. French doors are roomy, easy to use. Operates VERY quietly. Occassionally hear water go to the ice maker, but it is a 5 second sound and minimal. Ice maker is a small profile unit, makes lots of ice and doesn't restrict the space in the freezer. The freezer is well designed and ergonomically friendly. I love the thin flat top drawer for small items and popsicles. Great LG quality, handsome exterior, smart interior layout design. Have been totally remodeling our house: doors, windows, flooring, granite, all new appliances....my FAVORITE of everything so far is this refrigerator. Couldn't be more pleased !

We were in the market two years ago for a new fridge. After lots of research I narrowed it down to this LG unit and another Manufacturer of similar portions. In the end we made a terrible mistake. This fridge is very misleading. First off it states it is a 28 cubic ft unit, but we have not be able to maximize that space because the shelving design is not very intuitive. Things such as gallons of milk do not fit towards the back nor do many normal sized bottles. No we have actually lost 2-3 cubic ft. Then the door shelves are also under designed. Can barely hold a normal bottle of mustard. Who designs these things and what kind of food do they put into here for testing? The freezer area is actually great. No complaints there, but the fridge design is EXTREMELY poor. Also the water and ice dispenser is apparently very confusing. Over the last two years we have had more guests get water on the floor or themselves thinking they were getting ice. My advice, steer clear of this product. For the money you spend on it you will be just as dissatisfied about it as we are. The sad thing is we are considering purchasing a cheaper fridge just for the additional storage space.

Comments about LG Ultra Large Capacity Black French Door Refrigerator:
Had this for 5.5 years and then the freezer and ice maker stopped working. Loved it up until then. Bought a new one in black stainless. We'll see how long this one lasts.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Nice, but could be designed better

Nice looking, easy to use. Ice maker constantly jams up, the door seal in the center breaks down quickly, occasionally things in the fridge drawers just get frozen.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Dead in 18 months
from New Hampshire, United States
Our LG LFC28768ST compressor died within 18 months of purchase. We need to pay to have someone come look at it, verify that the compressor is bad, then wait for them to order the part, get it in and pay for them to install it. Last LG purchase (dishwasher and washer also had problems within 6 months of purchase...).

This is a great looking and working refrigerator/freezer. It holds nice steady temps in both the refrigerator and the freezer. It's super handy with its layout and the lighting is very bright. It's a nice unit.

Runs very quiet. Plenty of organization. I noticed the shelves are designed to be positioned together if you choose to adjust the shelves because of a small notch and for this reason it does not seem possible to only readjust a single shelve without moving the other. Freezer space is roomy and plentiful. Lighting is very bright and easy to see easily throughout the fridge. Love the meat drawers. Would have liked bigger vegetable bins and smaller meat and cheese drawer. Ice maker works great and like the low profile. Very happy with the fridge and glad to have selected this one.

I purchased this a few months ago and have loved it. There are a few things that I would have added/changed that would have made this the perfect fridge, but I haven't seen one yet that has every feature. I wish the icemaker had a control to stop making ice when the bin was full, but it doesn't, so I just cut it off until it reaches half full and then cut it back on again. I also wish that the door bins were a little heavier duty plastic than they are, since we put 2 liter drinks in there. The last thing I would have like to have seen was one of the sliding glass shelves on the top row. It was in the picture, but I knew it didn't have one when I purchased it. I specifically wanted this one because I have seen so many people having problems with the ice/water in the door leaking or causing rust later on and I didn't want that. Overall though, I like my LG refrigerator and get a lot of compliments on how much room it has.
Very good product

After reviewing many brands found that LG appeared to be the right choice. Was very dissatisfied with my previous French Door Unit.

I've had this fridge for over 3 years. I have not had any problems with performance. It cools efficiently, has a lot of space and it looks beautiful in my kitchen. Only thing I am not happy with is the bins on the door break easily. I only have two that aren't broken. Also the freezer bin on the bottom needs more dividers or something to better organize the food in there and that one broke easily too, I have yet to replace the bins.

NOT happy with this product
By Jim Bob Walton

Purchased appliance Nov 2011. Compressor failed/replaced within 2 yrs. Now that compressor has to be replace within 3 years. Not good for a LG product. Replacing 2 compressors within 5 years is unacceptable.

This is a great fridge. It's very roomy and has compartments for almost everything.
