Dyson DC65 Animal Complete Upright Vacuum - DC65ANIMALCOMPLETE

Cleaning your home doesn’t have to be a chore. The Dyson DC65 Animal Complete Upright Vacuum - DC65ANIMALCOMPLETE makes cleaning your home easy with its advanced cleaning technology.

So, what makes this vacuum great? To begin, the Dyson DC65 has the strongest suction at the cleaner head. Unlike most upright vacuums that require fixed settings, the Dyson Animal cleaner heads self-adjust to different floor types. This feature allows you continue vacuuming, without having to stop and switch your floor type settings. The Dyson DC65’s reconfigured brush bar provides the vacuum with an added 25% of power to the bristles to dig deeper into carpets and remove more dirt.

This upright vacuum also comes with Dyson Ball™ technology. The ball technology allows you to pivot your vacuum with a simple turn of your wrist, making it easy to maneuver into those hard to reach spaces. The combination tools also help convenience you when trying to get those hard to reach spaces. The stair tool helps keep you safe by providing you with a maximum reach of over 51 feet! This means there’s no more lugging your vacuum up the stair while cleaning.

One of the most impressive features on the Dyson DC65 Animal is its tangle-free turbine tool. Using counter-rotating heads with brushes, removing hair and dirt from carpets and upholstery makes this the perfect vacuum to clean up after our furry friends. Could this be the best vacuum for pet hair? It's very much possible.

Shop the vacuum that is certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America at Abt!

Features:

  • Radial Root Cyclone™ Technology
    • Conventional vacuums rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. But when you start to use some bagged machines, dust can clog the tiny holes in the bag. Some ordinary bagless vacuums work in a similar way. They use a central filter to trap fine dust, which can clog too. Suction drops, leaving dust and dirt behind in your home.
    • In Radial Root Cyclone™ technology remodeled airflows help remove more dirt, dust and allergens from the home.
  • Strongest suction at the cleaner head
    • Many upright vacuums use fixed settings. Their cleaner heads don’t self-adjust to different floor types – the bigger the gap between cleaner head and floor, the more suction power is wasted. With an active base plate it creates the optimal cleaner head contact for every floor type, reducing air leaks and retaining more suction power. It’s designed for outstanding performance across all floors – not just carpets, but the whole of your house.
  • Reconfigured brush bar
    • 25% more power drives bristles deeper into carpets removing more dirt.
  • Ball™ technology for upright vacuums
    • Dyson Ball™ uprights ride on a ball, which pivots on the spot so you can steer with a turn of the wrist. The ball also houses core technology, including the motor and ducting. There’s less clutter, so it’s easier to clean into awkward places, along edges and around furniture.
  • Hygienic and quick to empty
    • Emptying the bin on a Dyson vacuum is quick and hygienic. Just press the button to release the dirt. The bin is clear, so you can see when it needs emptying – and how much dust, dirt and pet hair the machine has captured. Dyson vacuums were the first to have clear bins – despite market researchers insisting it was a bad idea. Now clear bins are everywhere (though not all are made from the same ABS polycarbonate as riot shields, like Dyson bins).
  • Tangle-free Turbine tool
    • The Dyson Tangle-free Turbine tool is the only turbine tool that doesn’t tangle. There’s no brush bar for hair to wrap around. It uses counter-rotating heads with brushes to remove hair and dirt from carpets and upholstery and releases it straight into the bin. The flexible heads and articulating base plate ensure that the brushes maintain constant contact with a surface – no matter how uneven. The heads are positioned so the brushes reach to the front and side of the tool, drawing in hair and dirt from all directions.
  • Soft dusting brush
    • The Dyson Soft dusting brush gently removes dust and allergens from flat surfaces, delicate areas and upholstery. The fine nylon bristles are angled at 45° to sweep dust into the airflow, where it is sucked away. The front bristles are wider spaced to prevent sticking to furniture. A felt strip down the middle of the brush helps protect polished and delicate surfaces from scratching.
  • Multi-angle brush
    • The Dyson Multi-angle brush twists to give multiple angles to remove dust, dirt and allergens from hard to reach surfaces such as cupboard tops, door frames and lampshades. The rotating joints click-lock into different positions for rigidity at multiple angles.
  • Stiff bristle brush
    • The Dyson Stiff bristle brush dislodges ground-in, stubborn dirt and dried mud from upholstery and carpets. The bristles are angled to create a flicking action as they work through carpet pile - popping the dirt up into the airflow. Gaps between the bristles make the brush easier to push and prevents it sticking to surfaces.
  • Zorb carpet maintenance powder
    • Dry cleaning powder to absorb dirt and freshen carpet.
  • Dyson tool bag
    • The Dyson Tool Bag is designed to keep all of your Dyson tools and cleaning accessories in one place.

My house is a melting pot of flooring. I have laminate wood flooring in the majority of the house, tile in one bathroom, granite floor in another bathroom, carpet in the office and guest bedroom, vinyl tile in the kitchen, and wood flooring in the formal dining room. I have a huge area rug in the living room and two runners in the hallway. I have popcorn ceilings! What a pain to clean. I have several 4-legged children (kitties) and kitty hair is a constant battle. The kids are indoor only and shed year-around. The toughest mess to clean though, hands-down is LITTER! I use a natural biodegradable litter made from walnuts that is free of chemicals/toxins. It has virtually no dust but boy does it track everywhere. There is no smell which is a huge plus in my book. The only negative is the tracking.....this is where my Dyson comes in handy. I am already a Dyson owner. I own the DC07 (upright) and DC31 (handheld) and had the privilege of trying out the DC65. To test the DC65 and the fame to claim of twice the suction, I vacuumed first the carpet with the DC07. Then I put the DC65 to work on the SAME carpet floors to see if there was an actual difference in what it picked up. Ooooweee, was there a difference! I was shocked and grossed out at the same time. The amount of dirt it picked up was outstanding. I was immediately impressed with the results. Also, the DC65 rides on a ball whereas my old upright does not. This took some getting use to as my old vacuum is much heavier and you have to literally jerk it around corners and furniture. After several uses, I actually found the ball cut down on the overall time spent on vacuuming because of the ease of use. As I mentioned, I have several flooring types and going from one room to another was a breeze as it transitions well on all floors. In order to stop the brush bar from turning on the hard floors, you simply hit a button. (A nice feature). My old machine required me to have to bend down to turn it off. The vacuum was excellent on picking up dirt, hair, and litter on hard surfaces like granite, vinyl, tile, laminate, and hardwood floors. It did not push the dirt/hair/litter away but sucked it up. In fact, when I ran it by the baseboards, it sucked dirt out from behind the baseboards and places that a broom cannot reach. The vacuum came with a turbine tool which is awesome! OMG! Every household should have this. Testing this tool was fun as I made one pass down my fabric ottoman and could "see" the difference in dirt and kitty hair that was removed by just one pass. No more having to use a sticky lint roller brush to try to get the hair off which as we all know, does not do the best job. The turbine tool does it for you and quick!!!! Perfect for stairs and areas that are too small for the vacuum brush bar to reach. Also, because the tool is tangle free, if hair does end up in the bristles, it is easily removed with one pull. The tool is so awesome that I loaned it to my neighbor to try on her sofa. She could not believe the results and said, "I have to have one!!!!!" The vacuum also came with a soft dusting brush. I was just about to toss a cream lamp shade because it was so difficult to clean and thought I would give it a shot with the dusting brush. Again, outstanding tool. The shade is now clean and I didn't have to throw it away. I also used it on my popcorn ceilings and it did an excellent job at getting those hard to reach cobwebs. The see-through bin that holds the dirt is a good size and I was able to clean my entire house before dumping it. The release trigger is simple, easy to use, and allows only one hand to operate. The brush bar is also see-through and runs the entire length. This is important as it allows you to clean the entire surface. The brush bar cover is plastic and although you would think it would scratch your baseboards, it did not. I was concerned with the shaggy area rug being pulled and tangled with the vacuum but it never did and looks good as new. The highly dense carpeted runners also look amazing after using the vacuum on them. The cord is heavy duty yet easy to loop on the machine and store. When you want to use the vacuum, you simply pull the handle towards you and it releases the latch. No more stepping on the vacuum front or stepping on a lever to release it. Genius!!!! When you are done, simply push the handle towards the machine and it locks it in place for storage. Fabulous! Hands-down, the machine did an absolute splendid job at cleaning. If you are a Dyson owner, you will be happy with the results as it is an upgrade. If you are not a Dyson owner, you will be so grossed out with what it picks up and upset with yourself that you did not purchase sooner. There are a few things I would like to see added on Dyson vacuums in the future: 1) I would like a led light near the brush bar so that I can see areas where I am vacuuming that are not easily exposed to light (closets, underneath furniture, etc.); 2) I would like a led light on the release hose that I can turn on for when I use the tools for cleaning the ceilings or again in hard to reach areas like underneath appliances/furniture; 3) Instead of having to turn the machine on and then hitting the button to turn off the bristles for cleaning hard surfaces, I would like to be able to turn the brush bar off PRIOR to starting the machine; 4) Retrofit the turbine tool and dusting brush to store onto the machine. I cannot use the tools without the machine so why not keep them stored with it?; 5) since the turbine tool is so excellent at picking up hair and dirt and it is tangle free, why not create the brush bar the same way? No tangles of hair and easy to clean!!!!! Dyson keep up the great work. You have a customer for life.

We purchased the DC65 this past April. This was our second Dyson vacuum purchase. Our first Dyson Animal performed well and lasted for about 10 yrs. Unfortunately, based on our experience so far I rate the new DC65 Animal two stars. Positives: The vacuum performs best on low shag carpet and hard surfaces. No bags to deal with and simple to keep most parts and filters clean (exception being the beater bar). Negatives: The electric cord is more stiff and tangles more easily. By far the beater bar assembly is the biggest negative. The two piece design of the beater bar tangles hair very easily and needs constant cleaning. Not easy to clean either since the two pieces have confined spaces for hair to gather and bind. IMO, Dyson research should reconsider the one piece beater bar assembly. Height for the beater bar assembly is self adjusting, but that can be a problem for many types of carpet. Any carpet above a low shag causes the beater motor to burn and smell. You can turn off the beater bar, but it's not as effective at hair and dirt removal. The vacuum is more difficult to push with the beater bar off as well. The vacuum is marketed for it's versatility in all kinds of situations. However, it simply falls short in our situation due to the new beater bar design.

Wonderful vacuum

By

from Undisclosed

I waited a year before putting in a review to put this vacuum through its paces and it gets every particle and spect of dust. If it's true most dust is human skin, then the fine powder that ends up in the bin means I need to get better lotions for my family. I no longer use a dust cloth, I use the soft brush to dust attached to the extendable hose. The machine moves so easily and turns like a charm. It comes with a canvas holder for the attachments that hangs up, which keeps everything quick to get to. The only issue I have is with the hose. It doesn't stay extended when in use and wants to compact back to a tube. It's quite strong and I constantly struggle to keep it extended for use. I'd love to buy the canister but am afraid the hose on it would be the same. Other then the hose, I highly recommend this upright. Amazing machine!

hair in the little wheels on the head

By

from Undisclosed

I have one dog, a long haired German Shepherd. The little wheels on the head get clogged with dog hair and stop rolling in just 2 months. This makes the unit very hard to push. A serious issue, I take of the head every two months and get out my utility knife and small needle nose pliers and cut and pull the hair out until the wheels are free once again. Unfortunately, must be done every 2 months. Imagine if I had 2 or 3 dogs. Everything else on this Dyson is good, yes the commercials are true, it is a high quality vacuum that has the worlds best suction. I am offering to be a testing site for Dyson for the DC65 Animal or any animal type vacuum. I vacuum 3-4 times a week to keep up with the pet hair as a long haired German Shepherd does shed a lot of hair. Dyson is sending me 2 new replacement heads at no charge as we speak, Dyson stands behind their products, what more could anyone ask for? Go Dyson.

A worthwhile investment

By

from Undisclosed

Our dog of choice is the collie. These family friendly Lassie look-a-likes are wonderful except their long hair about our lair. Over the years, we have tried the latest and greatest, but they seldom lasted beyond a year. So we decided to invest in the Animal Complete. It was more than what we spent in the past, but hoped that it would pay off over the long term. And it has! It has lasted beyond every other vacuum that we have purchased and its performance has not diminished since it first arrived. The transition from carpet to wood floors is seamless. Using the attachments may be different at first because of how the machine is engineered, but all are very useful and come with a convenient organizer that you can hang in your closet. If you have wood floors, walk around barefooted after you have used a Dyson. It's a truly amazing feel of cleanliness.

Great but LOUD

The vacuum is great, but is louder than we had anticipated, hence the lower score. When I use the stick or attachments, I need to use ear plugs.

A must for pets!

By

from Undisclosed

We have a golden retriever and this vacuum is a must for pets! We absolutely love the tangle free turbine tool! It never tangles and gets ALL the dog hair off of sofas. We also use it and is perfect for car upholstery! Completely satisfied with our dyson! Yes many of the parts are hard plastic, but it is still very durable and the suction just doesn't compare! You have to see for yourself, it's worth the price!

Love My Dyson

By

Love this vacuum, first time i used it i was completely disgusted at how much dirt was in my carpet and couch! Very easy to empty container, light weight, easy to turn on carpet, hard surfaces not so much but i didn't purchase for hard floors so that doesn't bother me.

Pretty Decent Vacuum

By

from Undisclosed

I really like this vacuum - it does a good job and it is pretty lightweight. Things I don't like - it is hard to go underneath things because of the big ball. I really dislike that the tools are not attached to the vacuum, they are kept in a separate bag, so if you need to use them, you have to either carry them with you or go get them as needed. Also, the cord wrap is very flimsy! Overall, I would recommend it.

Not as good as the older Dyson

By

from Undisclosed

Our older Dyson was getting a little long in the tooth so to speak, so we purchased the New DC 65 because we have Golden Retrievers in our house. This unit was great looking and we had great experience with Dyson in the past so there was no hesitation about purchasing this one. Our out of the box experience was okay, the Vacuum filled up extremely quickly, and we had a problem with the hair wrapping around the brush right away. Then a spacer on the brush bar, wore out (during the first two weeks) and the hair started getting inside the brush. Not good, we'd vacuum 15 minutes and remove hair for 15 minutes. Based on our previous experience everyone we have any influence on purchased a Dyson based on how good our original unit was, my church, my mom, and my 2 daughters in particular. All have had great service, and they too have recommended the product. Based on my current DC65 I wouldn't recommend this unit to anyone that has pets. The unit still looks great but now it has died and has to be repaired under warranty.

Incredible Animal!

I have been using this machine for almost a year now. I have compared it to many different brands and this DC65 Animal is a beast! Cleans incredibly with ease! Can't wait to save my money for the new Cinetic Animal Allergy to see how it is compared to this one.

This is a great machine! ...

By

This is a great machine! Love how it manvers around everything so easily! The power is really strong and even on low-pile carpet, nothing is left behind, not even fine short pet hair. Emptying the bin is so easy with just the push of a button. The whole machine is so lightweight it nice to be able to take it up and downstairs to use on jobs that come up. I really love this machine for rooms with lots of carpet! The long cord allows me to vacuum without having to unplug and move to another plug as often as my old machine! Its also very powerful and fast on getting the job done!
