This has to be quite possibly the worst washing machine of all time. It uses less water to clean your clothes, but even when using the most expensive high efficiency detergents, and using the double rinse option, it is never able to completely rinse all of the detergent off of the clothes. It fills up with maybe 8" of water and it barely moves the clothes around. I feel like my clothes haven't been sufficiently cleaned in months. Also, if you hang dry your clothes it will leave a nasty residue that will ruin any expensive designer clothes you might wash. What I usually end up having to do is one cycle with detergent, and then run the cycle again without detergent, with double rinse cycles on both just to ensure that it rinses the clothes somewhat clean. So, you really end up wasting water anyway. Mind you, this also happens when only washing a few articles of clothing. If you're used to doing massive loads of laundry then stay away from this machine as it could take you hours to do your wash. As a matter of fact, just stay away from this washing machine in general. On top of it's functionality problems it makes a terribly high pitched annoying squealing sound every two seconds during it's cycle, so if you were planning on doing your wash while watching TV or while you're sleeping, forget about it. I'm shocked that this machine hasn't been recalled already. It's a complete joke.

Comments about GE White Top Load Washer:
This machine has reduced the amount of laundry products needed by 1/2 to 3/4--I have the same total-clean results with 1/4 to 1/2 the products I used in the past, and that includes using 1/3 the amount of bleach with the whites remaining sparkling over the last two months' use. It took experimentation to figure out how to set the machine to keep the whites sparkling: for example, bleach on the pretreat rather than bleach setting. The Extra High spin speed has reduced drying time by nearly 1/2. For example, a large load of towels went from 55 minutes down to 30 minutes in the same dryer, compared to when it was washed in my old-style top load washer. I expect the Overall Rating may increase with time. Because the product manual is minimal in information, and not comprehensive at all, the learning curve for this machine takes dedicated effort and often serendipitous discovery to find out what works.

GE HE Washer Rating
I love my new GE HE washer. I thought I would have trouble switching from an standard washer to an HE, but this washer made it easy with user friendly dials/ instructions and clothes that come out just as clean with a bonus of it being so much quieter.

Extremely loud and noisy.

Wash and rinse cycles are as claimed, quiet. The spin cycles unfortunately are extremely loud. They are so loud that one might wish they had an old fashioned top loading machine because the agitation and spin cycles on those are by far, less loud and noisy. Like every other high efficiency machines this one also does not clean as well as the old fashioned agitating top loaders. On a positive note the features are awesome.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

quiet machine, large capacity, gets clothes super clean
Great Washer but louder than my last GE
I recently purchased this and enjoy all of the features of it. Only problem I have is that it is a little noisier than my last GE Washer. Love the top loader.
Worst Mistake I have ever made

I am only one my 4th load of laundry with my new machine, but EVERYTHING comes out so wrinkled that it is impossible for the dryer to get them out. I have had to iron just about everything so far. I never had to iron with my agitator type washing machine.

I previously owned the GE Profile Front Loader and I'm extremely happier with my new Top Loader and live the load size
