For years, I've thought that conversion to Black & White (monochrome) was best done in post-processing, and that filters and special effects were at best goofy gimmicks - and certainly only to be done in post. Then after lusting after a monochrome-only digital camera from another manufacturer, I began experimenting with in-camera monochrome with various cameras, especially my Samsung DV150F, and then a Samsung NX mini. It made a wonderful impact on my "seeing," and in my day-to-day enjoyment of photography. So I began exploring shooting with other effects, especially the DV150F's "cartoon." That made an even bigger impact. So I bought this Samsung GC200 in order to explore the huge variety of options in live-view filters, effects, etc, available in Android. Generally, it has been a great success: The camera delivers excellent results, and there are a LOT of Android apps that work very, very well on it, as well as many, many more that are at least functional. The image quality in "straight" camera mode is quite good, though obviously not up to (e.g.) that of the Samsung NX mini, with its larger 1" sensor. With the cartoon or watercolor or sketch effects, the lower image quality becomes largely irrelevant - and certainly exceeds that provided by any conventional cell phone. The biggest hassle has been due to the limitations of the 8gb of internal memory, of which only a tiny fragment is available after system demands and preinstalled software. Clearing out bloatware, moving apps to SDcard, configuring apps to save images to SDcard, more-or-less keeps things functionall. Unfortunately, not all apps will save to SDcard - even if they say they will, they often save to "emulated SDcard," which is in internal memory. Finding an automatic file mover app to quietly move images from internal to external is dealing with that. Another frustration is apps that don't handle the GC200's physical camera controls - even though the cameras zoom controls function for volume in non-camera Android situations, I haven't found an app yet with a "use volume controls for zoom" option that actually works. Several do detect and use the zoom controls (some with issues, some quite well), which proves that it is possible for apps to work properly. Worse than zoom issues are those camera apps where pressing the camera's physical shutter release exits the app & opens the default camera app. While carrying the camera while it is turned on, unexpected actions are the norm, as fingers brushing the screen cause unintended behaviors. I wish the screen didn't extend quite so close to the edge opposite the front grip. I am trying to learn to carry the camera by top and bottom, instead of ready-to-shoot. But the negatives don't rise above the foible & eye-roll categories, and are far outweighed by the positives. I have several cameras currently in active use, but find the GC200 claiming a place in my jeans pocket more often than not. Recommended for anyone wanting to explore creative in-camera imaging alternatives,

The main feature of this device suppose to be Android operating system but it is also the biggest shortcoming. A camera with the same photo quality and some built-for-camera operating system costs a third of this price and it doesn't ask you to update app, doesn't nags with with a year old hangouts messages and has a lot of features when it comes to photography. Image compression is awful - it's not obvious on a small screen but once you zoom in or look at a big screen it looks terrible and there's no way to adjust the level of compression. Internet connection sharing over bluetooth form iOS device is not working and the only way is Wifi sharing which literally takes 10 times more energy. Display is very bright - actually too bright and when you adjust the settings on Snapseed app it looks to dark on the other devices! Dynamic range is very low - even with photo modes like "Rich tone" which is 3 images bracketing HDR composition. Third party app "HDR pro" which works great on iOS on android misses the main features, gets in the way with built in camera interface and freezes the whole system which requires a hard reset. And there is a lot of small messy android related details that interact with camera features and make the whole user experience disappointing. The only reason I'm still using it is a 21x zoom in your pocket which is great when traveling and you don't feel like taking a dSLR out of the bag and the subject is too far for an iPhone!

Large beautiful screen for picture viewing. Vivid colors shows great details
Because I am not an android person, I have had issues learning the system. However, this camera takes great pictures. I am having issues with posting on FB which was a reason for purchasing this camera. It also takes pictures very slowly. Cannot get shots off fast enough and has a slow start up time. For the price, it should have 2 batteries and a battery charger included. Also a case. Pictures are beautiful, clear, concise, and great color.
Love the Zoom
I've had many cameras over the past 55 years including DSLR's and a Mirrorless. I love the presets even though I'm comfortable with M, A or S. The Zoom and screen size are fantastic. I would love to see a viewfinder because in bright sunlight the screen is a bit tough to see.
Camera takes awesome pictures & great features

The ability to upload to FaceBook and email are awesome. The pictures look great and taking them is quick. I have one my son loved it when he saw it on our cruise and he purchased one for the next trip. It's light and you can carry it easily.
I look ve this camera. It goes everywhere with me.
Really have enjoyed using this camera

I bought this camera, because I love taking pictures, however, don't always want to carry my bulky Nikon camera. I love the fact that it is small enough to fit in my purse and that is is small when I wear it around my neck with a strap. The camera has several picture shooting modes which I use and really like. It has a great zoom and is easy to use. I love the action mode I took many shoots of the kids diving ,and the shots came out no blurriness. The camera even lets me save the pictures in different folders which I use to keep my family photos separate from my other photos. All the photos I take are automatically uploaded to my dropbox account, so I can easily view the photos online, on a computer and on other devices, making photo sharing easy. Although, it says I can text from the phone it cant get it to work unless i access the web version of my text messaging app, but that is a pain so i don't really. I end up accessing the pictures on my phone and texting from there. The camera has more features which I have yet to use, but I am generally happy with what I use. My camera came with an extra battery, so battery life has notbeen a problem for me.
Purchased the camera after I retired last year. Travelled to Paris, Cuba, and 2 cruises to the Caribbean. I could not have made a better choice in getting a non-lense exchangeable unit. The built-in telephoto is a winner. Be prepared for others to ask you about the unique (white) looking camera on your wrist strap. Good luck with your choice, I consider myself as getting it right for my needs.
This is the best idea since sliced bread!

This camera is a great combination of a camera & tablet. We took it to Europe and took some really great pictures. The Panorama function was great. The Erase mode, which erases people out of the photo when they walk in front of you, was wonderful for trying to take pictures at busy tourist sites. I was able to get photos that no other person in our group could get. The different scene and lighting settings allowed me to take perfect photos in so many different settings with the touch of a finger. The best part was that I could edit and share my photos instantly with my family and friends. We just used the free WiFi at most places to connect, upload, and share pictures quickly. This camera even took better pictures than my husbands very expensive model. I love this camera and will keep it for a long time!
Best for the money
I have Nikon D3 and we are headed for England and France and did not want to carry the weight of the Nikon with a heavy lense, I done a whole lot of comparing for two months and having the Samsung Phone this camera fell right into place, for a 78 year old the ease of operation is really easy, try one...
