Love everything about this router... I think the combo is a grea idea because I can mount the regular base to my router table and i can take the plunge base in my truck if I need to use the router on the road. This tool has the perfect amount of power yet is easy to grip and hold onto when digging into hard wood. I don't like how I need to order a collar kit individually... I think it is something that should be standard in a plunge router... But all in all a great tool for pros and regular handy people.

I bought this router to replace my 1617 router (which is a workhorse) which I mounted in a table. Instead of fussing with removing and reinstalling the router for handheld use, I opted to buy the new MR23 router which came with a plunge base. The router itself is very nice, but the plunge base has some side to side wobble, which seems to rock back and forth on the side which has the spring (the side opposite of the depth stop). I bought the fixed base so I can use this router for edging applications since it is nice and solid. All in all, I like the router and the trigger being in the handle, but the slop in the plunge base is unacceptable. I think the 1617 definitely had a much better built plunge base. I'm not sure if Bosch makes a power adapter so the MR23 router can be used in a router lift (I use a Jessem) due to the unique power terminals, if they do, I would seriously consider switching the routers out so I can use the solid 1617 plunge router and mount the MR23 in the table. Some of the other routers of this same model I have played with in stores either do not have the same wobble, or it is not as bad.

I recently purchased the MRC23EVSK router combo set and couldn't more pleased. Being new to woodworking and unfamiliar with many of the manufacturers I spent a lot of hours on the internet researching the products available. For a router I decided to by the Bosch and I could not be more pleased with my purchase. The quality of construction and design is well above what you would expect when compared to the price of this router. Also, the ease of use adds to the enjoyable experience of woodworking for this newbie. Thanks for a great product.

Love the soft start

Love the soft start, trigger control system and the LED illumination. Very comfortable to operate. I mainly use it for flattening slabs in my router sled but it's nice having the combo option. It works perfect for my needs. Would be nice if it came with a collar kit tho.
I think she's my new workhorse..

I bought this kit new to cut and shape a corian countertop for my bathroom. It cut the solid surface like butter with no chips or snags. I particularly like the easy depth stops on the plunge base. Soft start is a nice feature but I'm in the habit of starting the machine and letting it rev up before I contact the material so it does me little good; however this makes the feature that provides consistent rpm under load really beneficial. I love the trigger in the handle; it's an excellent design. I've used it since on both hard and soft woods and it's got ample power. I mounted the fixed base in a table and ran a bunch of 1x through an ogee to make trim and was making beautiful full depth passes with no problems.
Now I Can Route!

One of the first power tools I owned, on recommendation of my early mentor, was a router. Unfortunately, I never felt comfortable using it, thanks to my relative fear of wielding a bit flying at 20,000 rpm and the crude user interface between the handles and bit... poor visibility, lack of connection/feel, not to mention off-handle controls. Fast forward to one year after purchasing the Bosch MRC23EVSK and I am experiencing how useful a router can be. This router has heft, is even competitively heavier than others, but does not feel heavy when I'm using it. The handles are comfortable, isolate much of the bit vibration, and are shaped such that YOU control the router rather than vice-versa. The bit and cutting area is lit with bright LEDs, and controls are all (except for variable speed) on the handles, pulled through another Bosch innovation that connect the base to the motor. I am using it so much, and experiencing so many ways to apply its usefulness, that I recently also bought Bosch's little colt palm router for trimming and smaller jobs.

I've had this router combo for about 6 months now and I can say its been worth every penny. By far the best part is the on off trigger thats built into the handle. Not only is it comfortable to use but its a great safety feature, meaning you dont have to take your hand off the router to turn it off. The plunge base is smooth and the micro adjust is great. I also love that this router uses dials to adjust depth and not a ring like other manufacturers. I think its easier to dial in adjustments. Oh and that little LED light underneath the router really helps the user seeing what theyre cutting! Overall, fantastic!
Great engineering and production

This router is a dream to use. It fits in ones hands and is easy to guide. The lghting allows for easy viewing of the cut. It starts smoothly without an tork.,thus you have complete control. the dust collection works very well. I use it free hand and with the Bosch Router table. Easy to shift between applications. It is powerful and allows for speed adjustment for different types of wood. It is accurate in that it allows me to adust deepth of cut with it's micro adjustment feature. I am very pleased and thank the engineers and manufacturing staff for a job well done

I like this router a lot. I have only used th plunge base so far and it is intuitive and smooth. Soft start feature seems to make me a better craftsman, more deliberate and controlled. I have used other routers and cannot imagine going back.
Great power and function!
from New York
I love this router. It is very convenient having the power right in the handles. Plenty of power to do what you need with the tool. Would be nice if it included some more accessories. Highly recommend.

Waste of money!
I have always loved the Bosch 1617. I thought I would go for the new one and bought the MRC23EVSK combo pack. The motor seems strong and fast but the plunge base is horrible. It grabs and sticks, then lets go when you're not ready or don't expect it. Also, Bosch never sent me an email asking how I liked the saw. Which they have done on my other Bosch purchases. Also, I found out that it doesn't fit my Jasper circle jig that I bought about the same time. That's a disappointment but my old 1617 will fit.
