Lives up to it's name "Brute Tough"
Comments about Bosch Tools 18V 1/2" Hammer Drill/Driver:
I've owned and still do own several of these drills that are used daily from light, to heavy use. They well and truely are great drills. The only draw back is the lack of a bit holder anywhere on them, makes it a serious pain rummaging in a tool belt or a pocket for a different bit.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Feels heavy duty and practically fail-proof

Purchased 2 years back after a combo unity got stolen. I decided to upgrade to this unit. This definitely is more beefy and the torque is insane. I use it for mainly wood but using large bits like with Kreg joinery, it's much better than the entry level 18v drills. Used with the 3.0aH battery, it can go and go. For drilling holes to hang pictures, or assemble cabinets, go smaller. For anchoring a wall to concrete and drilling pocket holes in oak, go this route.

Ive had this drill for three years now. I use it daily to drill steel. It still performs as well as the day I first took it out of the box. Ive drilled thru 1" thick stock. Ive even drilled using 15/16" bits on several occasions. Again this is thru steel, not wood. This drill gets the job done. It is hands down the best cordless drill I've ever used. Batteries last and charge quickly.

I have owned this drill for a couple of years now and it's running the same as the first day I opened it. It is built tough enough to withstand the heavy abuse that I put on it everyday at the jobsite.
Heavy and Light!

Heavy Duty Hammer Drill in a Light package! The LED is a nice feature you only notice when you need it - a great bonus! The batteries provide "full power" right up till they die; so you don't have that slow painful death of old battery technology. I like the metal chuck as apposed to the plastic ones (yes, even Bosch's plastic). My only complain, which is not a deal breaker - just annoying: no bit holder on the drill. Yes, I have bit boxes and belts; but it's nice to have an on-board double headed bit always at the ready. But I won't go back to DeWalt anytime soon for it!

I bought this fine tool as a gift to myself! It is WONDERFULL, never did I have to tighten the chuck to hold the bit or drill. It is the best hand tight chuck I ever used. The torque that come out of this tool is so strong it was more than any 1/2" electric that I had on the job site!

Been a few months since i bought this drill works very well. the hd batteries work fine. drilled dozen plus 9/16 holes through 2 ground contact treated 6x6 timbers (base retaining wall)just have to make sure bit is sharp. had decent power. only draw back i had was the radio charger used the extra battery and used it several hours. left battery in the radio (off) 2 days till i got back to job and it was very low on power.

I bought this drill for a good price and at first I thought it was a little heavy( I previously had a corded bosch hammer drill) but now after using it for a couple of months I love it. It's really powerful and drills concrete easily. My only problem is the hammer drill and clutch rings constantly get twisted when working with work gloves. The battery life is amazing too. I used to like the other blue brand but now its bosch all the way.

I have both of the older models, blue core. have had the first one for about ten years, and the 2nd one for about 2 years, love them both, work fantastic.
Best cordless drill I've ever owned
Pros: chuck, speed control, balance, weight, battery life, light Cons: reverse switch is awkward at first (compared to what I was use too)
