I was attempting to use larger router bits with my fixed speed router. After a little research, I found that you need a variable speed router for larger bits like raised panel bits. I did more research and picked the Bosch 1617EVS mainly because I own other Bosch tools and appreciate the quality of them. Once again, I wasn't disappointed. After I mounted it in my router table and began using it at low speed, I was thrilled to find it didn't bog down and worked smoothly. My panels came out great! I love this router.

Comments about Bosch Tools 2.25 HP VS Fixed-Base Router:
Use in my homemade router table but got old real fast when needed to use hand held so I went out and bought another one. Now have one in table and one out fo table. Smooth, powerful and easy to set up and use.

I bought this router to use in a second router table. I'm an old retired guy and A bit of system redundancy works well for me. I decided to try the 1617EVS router in a Bosch RA1181 router table. Not only is the setup easy with this system but all the functionality is there as well. Bosch used several well thought out ideas. The router has plenty of power for not only edge shaping but its use as a jointer works very well. I've ran a good amount of red oak through it and the router4 has not faltered once. There is no appreciable run-out and bits are easy to change. Adjusting the height through the table is a definite plus. I would buy this router again.

This router is everything I was looking for and more. It has plenty of power, easy to maneuver when doing freehand routing and a breeze to change a bit. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Like the hand held and plunge in the same tool

This is my second 1617EVS. Great rpm and the fact that it's adjustable. Works well with my jigs. Only problem is that it's difficult to find 1/2" bits locally and I have to order them for mail delivery.

I use the fixed base under a router table. The ability to micro adjust depth from above the table (I had to drill a hole to match the position in the router) makes for perfect tenon fitting. And the variable speed is perfect for working different hardness of wood. I read other reviews befor buying this router and I am not disappointed, it is every bit as good as I hoped it would be.

This router is used in conjunction with the Bosch router table I recently purchased. The two go very well together.

I got this router to add some detail to my woodworking projects. With a second fixed base mounted to a router table, this router serves double duty. The micro adjustments are great for making fine adjustments. The tools feels great when in use, nice balance and plenty of power.
