For the price, I don't know why I don't have a few of these in my tool arsenal. I got this router to replace my old laminate trimmer (which I never really used for trimming laminate). I was instantly amazed at how well ergonomically designed it is as well as how powerful it is. I have found through use that it can perform 90% of my routing needs. The one handed design and low weight make narrow edge routing operations much easier compared to steadying a 'full sized' router. One big problem is that it only comes with one collet wrench and the integrated arbor lock wears out quickly. I ended up making a second wrench to fit a notch on the arbor shaft. The few small cons concerning this router are that it only accepts 1/4" shank bits, the visibility in the base is small and limiting, and the square base makes routing along a guide difficult. But since most router bits use bearings this isn't a major problem.

Bought this router to do some light edging on a coffee table I was making. I finished all my work in less than an hour. I started on another project later that day and the router worked a while and quit. I thought I tripped a breaker, but not the case. It just stopped working. Now it's going back to get serviced. Glad I finished my coffee table before it died. I later read that I am not the only person to have this little gem quit on. Disappointed to say the least.

Comments about Bosch Tools Variable-Speed Palm Router Kit:
As a weekend woodworker, I bought this router for edge forming, trimming, and hinge mortising - I'm very happy with it. I haven't had any of the problems cited in other reviews. The spindle lock, collet, and wrench on my Colt are fine. As far as I can tell, the shaft is 90 degrees to the base, and the base locking mechanism is solid and well done - it makes the mechanisms on most other trim routers look ridiculous by comparison. The "problem" with the depth setting changing when the base is locked down is well described in the owner's manual and easy to work around if you have just a little patience. As far as I'm concerned, this is a non-issue. If you need a router to cut lots deep dados or run all day trouble free for years, obviously this is not the right unit. It seems to me that the problems experienced by other users are caused either by misuse or by bad individual examples of what is generally a well designed product. I'm picky about tools, and this gets an easy 5 stars. I have been using my new Colt router for a month now and it is a wonderful addition to my shop. I have a large bench mounted router, but this tool is now being used more often than the more powerful cousin. It is so easy to route edges, especailly for rounding over or using the flush cut router bit. Put the box or other item you want to rout on a pad made for holding the work and just cut away. The Colt is very easy to control. Making hinge morteses is a snap because the router doesn't grab or try to move off track. You can use the edge guide to help you make the mortese straight. All of the cutting so far has been in red oak and oak vineer plywood. It performs well in both. The bits are easy to change, and the depth is easy to set. A well thought out tool and well worth the price. I use it all the time in my shop now. I wouldn't be without it.

Great little router

For small things and trims, this router works great. Light, easy to operate even single handedly. Lacks power for serious routing, but that's not it's purpose after all. For what it's meant to do, it's powerful enough. Used it to trim laminate and it works best kind.
Great router, but not perfect.

I'd give the router alone 5-stars and the angle attachment 5-stars, also. However I’d just give the edge guide 2-stars because it's prone to move around too much. I suspect that will be replaced before too long. I bought this kit for the router an angle attachment mainly, because I had to modify some rather expensive PVC stair rails to accept the balusters at the proper angle for our stairs. I didn't want to risk hogging the existing square holes out with a Dremel tool, as suggested, and risk ruining the rails. There are 80-holes to modify for each stairway and we have two stairways. I built a small jig and used the angle base with a down cut spiral bit and it worked beautifully. I haven't tried the offset base yet, nor the other goodies, but I got the entire kit cheaper on-line than I could buy the router and angle base for locally. They would have had to order the angle base anyway. I also plan to purchase the plunge base in the near future. I do wish the bases interchanged a little easier, but they stay in place very well, once they're installed.

I have had the Bosch PR20EVS palm router for approximately 6 months and I am very pleased with it. Very easy to use, very smooth, with plenty of power.
I love this router

I've been in the market for a new router for a while now and have been very happy with my Bosch 18v drill so wanted to stick with Bosch when I eventually upgrade all of my tools. I'm more of a weekend warrior and don't have a very big workshop so wanted something smaller but was worried a palm router might not be powerful enough for my needs after coming from a full sized, plunge router. I did my research on the router, watched A LOT of youtube video reviews and decided to get it. I've been using it for a couple months now and it is absolutely perfect for my needs. It's compact and powerful. I'm actually doing a lot more work with the router now than I used to with my old one because I enjoy it so much.
easy to use

i have owened 2 units for several years. one i keep a trim bit in and the other i use for small profile edge finishing

I really like my palm router. I look for any excuse to use it. I really like the soft start up and how it doesn't jump out of my hand when I turn it on. I also really like how it fits comfortably in my hands. I was worried that it wouldn't have enough power because it is so small, but I have yet to attempt a project that it couldn't handle. (keep in mind I am just a weekend warrior when it comes to projects and don't tackle anything too big) My only con is that sometimes the router bit shaft doesn't want to come out of the collet. I have to use a pair of pliers to get it out. But I'd rather have that problem then have it the other way and be worried about my bit sliding out while in use! All in all, 5 stars from me!
Handles everything I need it for.

Has served all my diy purposes for 5+ years now. I've used it for rounding over handrails, decorative edges on shelves and projects, and trimming flush mdf and veneer. The variable speed control is great for adjusting speeds on different bit sizes. Very happy and would recommend it to anyone with smaller projects that don't require the largest of bits
