Best Warranty in the Business.

About Me Handyman, Homeowner
I purchased this after many failed competitive products. We have a large, divided basement and need two running simultaneously to properly control the humidity. My choice of this unit was based on two factors:1. 2 year warranty, plus a few more months for online reg.2. The included pump which expels the moisture outside vs. into the floating slab.NOTE: If you buy this or any dehumidifier consider strongly using your credit card extended warranty to get another year or so of coverage. Gone are the days of the 10 - 15 year dehumidifier Made in US... but this one may be better if they are confident to have a longer warranty!
Pump It Up!
from Ann Arbor MI
As an asthmatic with an allergy to dust mites keeping humidity low in the summer is a big deal. I have 3 to 4 humidifiers running throughout the house at any one time which are running at the lowest possible humidity setting. I bought 2 new ones this year to replace 2 that burned out. My two criteria was avoidance of emptying buckets and, to a lessor degree, noise. For noise the Frigidaire unit (70 g) is king as it's high setting is quieter than most competitive low settings. But it only direct drains into the floor and so is in the basement. The Danby pumps it up and I have it on the main floor pumping out a window that closes almost completely on it's thin water tube and which I seal with some clear packing tape. It's the best solution for any direct drain that cannot drain into the floor (use gravity for draining).

About Me Weekend Buyer
We are night and weekend purchasers ... Abt was impossible to reach during those hours, their telephone answering system at nights and weekends is unproductive. Abt web-advertised advertised a price during those hours, and then on Monday when stores opened, they bumped up the price (!!) & we had to argue to get the advertised price, which was given to us.

Finished basement room in this house
its a great product, comes with everything you need including an internal pump. work great for me.

Very easy set-up,runs very quiet. Fan has been going non-stop, but that's more a function of the humidity in the northeast US. We went from 2 old units to this 1 new unit and the basement is extremely comfortable. Biggest selling feature is the built-in pump. No more emptying of the tank!Very satisfied with purchase.
Delivery was extremely fast.Customer Service was outstanding! I highly recommend Abt to family and friends.
Built In Pump Rocks!
from Cambridge, MA
We've had this for a few weeks now with no problems. Easy to set up. We keep this in the basement and use the built in pump to pump the water into the sink by the washing machine. The built in pump is the best part of the dehumidifier. Now we don't need to buy a separate pump or figure out how to elevate the unit. The fan runs continuously and the basement does get warmer than normal because of that. I can imagine this would get annoying if the unit was in your room, but since it's in our basement, we don't hear it and don't mind that it's a bit warmer in the basement. In the wintertime, we'll probably appreciate a warmer basement. We also have a frigidaire dehumidifier with a fan that runs continuously, so this problem is not isolated to Danby. I think the Danby is quieter than the Frigidaire.

I use this in the basement and the internal pump for emptying the water condensate is very, very convenient. The digital display is nice, but I have no idea why anyone would use the remote control. My only concern is that the fan runs almost continuously - even when the compressor is off. I would not think that is very energy efficient. Customer service was not helpful when I expressed my concern.
Very nice Dehimidifier

Expensive, but worth it.
from Chicago, IL
I am very pleased with the overall operation of this dehumidifier. I've been using it for about a month, and it has been working very well. I live in a four-story townhome, and I purchased the unit to make it more comfortable in my home without running the AC constantly. To this end it has done its job, reducing the humidity by 15% within a day and maintaining it since. PROS:+ The unit has a water pump that will expel water into a sink/tub/drain up to 15' above the unit. The hose that comes with the unit fits under a door and empties into a shower drain.+ The unit will restart at the predefined settings in the event of a power outage. + The fan is relatively quiet - comparable to a box fan on high.CONS:- The fan runs constantly, regardless of whether the target humidity has been reached.- When the fan/unit runs, hot air blows out the top which heats the room into the low 80s. Though it limits the unit's effectiveness, I have set a timer so the unit only runs when we aren't in the area.
