Great products may seem to cost more like the Bosch profession series. The fact is I've save money and time in projects. I've own other Jig saws for competitors as well as some of Bosch's earlier Models. The problem with the earlier models where not the product but the friends I lent them to. I've done professional tile cutting with diamon blades with this jig saw. Cut through MDF board like a knife through hot butter. Which I will add the cuts where almost as straight as bech saw with a glide table. Have use this Jig saw for Oak, Ash, Cedar and Mohagany trim.I'm not easy on my tools niether, I've replaced bent and broken blades. I have gunked up and glued up tools on job sites do to restricted working space. The Bosch tools have always taken the beating and keeps me working. Form the bottom of my heart, thankyou Bosch tools. A name I trust when buying tools I want to last.

The saw is very solid and powerful and the tool-free blade lock is a fine solution. Terrific straight-ahead performance, although even with the shoe against a cutting guide the blades will wander rather easily when cutting grainy woods. I like the grip, but find it hard to do intricate work (compound angles, scroll cuts) with this saw due to its size and weight. Stable and strong, yes, but giving good feel for what the blade is doing, cut line visibility, and agility, no. This replaced a more modest old saw that was a go-to tool in the shop. Now I find I am not eager to grab the jig saw. An expensive date for not being my sweetheart. Would recommend with caveats. The instructions do not explain when to use the various settings for blade oscillation. Bosch blades are above average and also pricey. Very few were included with the saw. The tool will last forever, partly because I will not use it like I had hoped.

Comments about Bosch Tools 7.0A Barrel-Grip Jig Saw:
It feels like this machine has enough power to plow through armor plate! Blade changes are a snap (make sure to PUSH THE BLADE IN when installing, there is a spring which ejects the blade and this spring must be compressed). My only concern would be the size and weight. I would like to see a slightly scaled down model but realize this would mean reduced power as well. Overall, I am pleased.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have used this saw to make the cut for two kitchen sinks in laminate tops. The improved control with the barrel grip is significant.

Originally purchased the JS260 unit and returned it due to my difficulty in using the top handle unit. Exchanged it for the JS470EB which is so much more comfortable to use. Really like the weight and the balance of the unit, also appreciate the location of the variable speed dial on the JS470EB as opposed to the JS260. Enjoy the power of the unit as it cuts through hardwood like butter. The option to add dust extraction is a great feature. Overall just appreciate the power and versatility of the JS470EB.

I was given the Bosch JS470EB for Christmas. I have not used it much since then but I believe this is a great product. The ease of changing blades, the variable speed and great cutting power make this jig saw easy to use on different projects.
Simply a joy to use!

Best jig saw I have experienced to date. It cuts through metal and wood like butter! The blade deflection is minimal and the dust blower is an excellent feature to add to this tool. Love using it and cannot wait for the next opportunity.
Bosch JS470EB rating

Bought it a few weeks back for home and hobby use. I like everything about the saw easy operation minimal vibration, ample power great features. Bosch tools have a great reputation for excellence in manufacturing and reliability. This is an excellent Swedish made power tool. It cut incredibly well, fast and easy has great features and is built solid. I like the barrel grip design for getting into tighter spaces, tool less blade change, variable speed is nice and set buy thumb dial on rear of unit, orbital cutting action via four settings, and a dust blower. All top notch features and useful. I would have given 5 stars to the tool had it had a built-in led lighting system to show cut area better even though I gave a 5 I would really say 4.5 would be my actual rating. My old eyes are as good as when I was younger. I think this feature would be helpful to all users in lower or poorly lit situations. Example doing a cut out inside a cabinet or up in under a floor. With that exception the tool meets all my needs. I think it will last me a life time and be something I can hand down to the next generation of craftsman. I would definitely recommend this jigsaw if you are in the market for a quality product that's worthy of commercial use but won't brake the bank to purchase.
Nice saw but...could use a light

I got this for X-mas and have used a couple of times so far but for the most part it is a decent saw. My main gripe is that you cannot see the line you are cutting unless you lean way down in front of the machine and even then I struggle following the line. It is not all that ease to operate. I would buy a conventional D-handle saw if I had to do it again, one with a light so you can see what you are cutting.

The JS470EB is a heavy-duty jigsaw that will perform over and over again with no fuss. It is a weighty saw, but the quality is evident right out of the box. This is my first Bosch tool, and it won't be my last. Fast blade changes (make sure you hold the blade when removing it - it will shoot out of the saw about 5 ft!!), fast cuts, excellent options available (even after market). Highly recommend!
Accuracy and ease!
I love this jig saw. The blade change is quick and easy. The barrell grip gives greater feel and control while cutting; which is essential when following scribe lines. Would recommend this saw to anyone professional or hobbyist.
Still love it!
I have been using this saw for a year now for rough and fine cutting. It is smooth and accurate.
