Comments about Bosch Tools Torpedo 3-Point Alignment Laser:
have this same identical level except it is gold annodized and is a Robotoolz brand. I have the same problem that one of these reviwers has as the level remains on for about one minute and then turns off. I tried a number of new batteries to no avail. I tried calling the number in my manual and it is not Porter Cable Robotoolz.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I purchased this level almost a year ago. I use it professionally as is my work (I install/modify grain/seed handling and packaging equipment. My uses for it include establishing a level across a distance (from a grain elevator to another structure) and aligning larger pipes for grain flow. It has performed satisfactory, mostly, but has not been overly impressive. To shoot a line outdoor, in the daylight, across a distance of 60-80' is impossible in daylight. I have to do it at daybreak or at dusk to be able to see the dot. I think that is a limitation most of them have, except the ones with more powerful lasers (green) might be better. Something that did surprise me is the fact that even with 3 powerful magnets, it seemed to get bumped off easily. I believe this is due to the fact that the level, being solid metal, is rather hefty, and the magnets, although powerful, had difficultly keeping it attached. They did alright if you absolutely did not bump it, but even a small bump would jar it loose. I have another aluminum torpedo level with rare earth magnets, and it stays attached much, much better than this one. After maybe 6 months of use, the laser would not stay on in certain positions. I could turn it on and move the level and it would turn off. After replacing the batteries and making sure the compartment was closed properly, it didn't work any better. It just seemed like something was loose inside. I contacted customer support and they sent me labels to send it in for repair. I'm now waiting for it to return. Somewhat minor detail - The velcro (hook-and-loop) that is used for the case is just about useless. It seems to have disintegrated in the first 6 months of light-moderate use. I don't attach it to my belt, but if I wanted to, it would never work. It doesn't even stay closed when turning the case upside down. Would I buy it again? I'm not sure. I needed it immediately, and it was available locally at a big-box store. But if I need another one, I will probably try another kind.
Laser is good, case is not

I used this laser daily for about 2 months, relying on the case to make the level portable and accessible during that period. Unfortunately, after about 6 weeks the Velcro was useless on BOTH the flap that hold the level in the case, AND the Velcro that holds the belt loop closed. As such, the level kept falling off my belt, and falling out of the case. Sewing the Velcro belt-loop closed would eliminate it's use on my tool belt due to the size of my tool belt clip (won't fit over it). The laser works good, but I have no way to carry it (falls out of the tool belt), so it's not a "useful" tool. I'd recommend it, but only if it's always going to be in a toolbox.

This product is not worth buying
Purchased this lazer level and installed 9 , 4" gal. poles for a carport. I had cut the poles using this level to line up height and had problems. Figured it out finally the bubble level is way off. I put 6 regular levels next to this lazer level and all 6 showed the same amount that it was off. So if you have a Bosh level be sure to check its accuracy before you depend on it cut poles or expensive and very hard to replace.
This is a very Accurate,Robust and Dependable Tool
Many of our Electrical Engineers such as myself and our Technicians carry this level to line up Safety Light Curtains on equipment for keeping the Operator of a piece of equipment safe from Harm. We depend on this Laser level to function everytime we take it out of our Tool Bag. We store the unit sometimes in Environments that is truly harsh and we have never had one fail. The only problem we experience is the On button will sometimes get pressed during transit and run the batteries down. To keep this from happening I will loosen up the On/Off button switch which is also the threaded cover for the Battery compartment.
