I love the Bosch Bulldog. While working on renovating my house, I originally bought another brand of hammer drill that burned out after a few uses. The repairman said he made a lot of money fixing that brand of tools and that he wouldn't buy one. I had a big tile job in a shower redo. He told me his favorite tool was the Bosch Bulldog because it offered a chipping function along with hammer drilling. At his advice I threw down extra money on this tool. I had the tile removed from that bathroom in about four hours, while the other bathroom took over 26 hours to remove the tile with a hammer and chisle. We used and abused the Bosch over the next several months using the hammer drilling function as well as the hammer alone function and never got a groan from the Bosch. The tool is still in my shed and is always the first one I reach for when I have a big job. I would not recommend the other brand to my worst enemy, but brag on the greatness of the Bosch Bulldog to anyone working on a heavy duty job. Buy this tool with confidence.

Comments about Bosch Tools 1" SDS-Plus Bulldog Xtreme Rotary Hammer:
Drilled about 60 holes, 1/2" x 6" deep and it quit hammering. The drill looks new but did not hold up. It may work great for weekend jobs or around the house but don't expect to make a living using it.

great things in small package

Bought about 5 months ago. First job used to drill 50 9 inch deep 1/2 inch thick in solid stone. Not a problem. Moderate pressure with one hand is enough to do most jobs. Fits into tighter places than the bulldog does. Was also impressed with the chiseling action. Guys at work still have hammer drills but they cannot keep up. they have to use a lot of pressure. I have actually hammered some 1/4 inch holes 6inch deep with one hand while talking on cell phone with other with no effort. Thanks for building a great tool

This is what all others are compared too. They last forever and get the job done. Yes they cost more, but you get what you pay for.

I needed to install 6 bicycle storage racks in work and used my regular hammer drill with little success, I needed 3/4" holes in hard concrete. I rented this drill from a local hardware store, and literally like cutting through butter. I will be getting one of these very soon, a great drill.

I've had this about a month and though was only used several times it sure saved time going through brick walls and mounting outside fixtures. I didn't need anything to big or heavy as most of the time I'll be using a ladder so the hammerhook did and will be handy. The SDS adapter was also purchased thus enabling the use of my existing cement bits.
Very nice drill

I bough this drill for work and is the best hammer drill I have used yet. I also have bought the sds to chuck adapter and everything works great. Amazing drill.

I bought the Bulldog to replace a Bosch hammer drill that was stolen out of my truck a year and a half ago. I had the old one for 15 years and it was still going strong. So far, the new one is just as rugged and reliable as the old one, and I expect it to last at least until this one gets ripped off!
Excellent power and performance amazing!

Purchased few days ago to drill 8-10 holes into 4 in concrete. Only had this unit for a few days so can not speak to the longevity of the unit. The reviews were spot on. Unit really impressed with 30-40 sec per hole. Let the hammer drill do the work not you. Depth gauge handy and thankfully not plastic. Chuck was a bit tight. Hard time getting the bit in there the first time. However with time this will loosen up.
Planted 500 tulip bulbs without breaking a sweat!
from Minneapolis, MN, United States
I am a homeowner with lots of gardens and flowerbeds. I used plant tulip bulbs every fall by hand. It was backbreaking and monotonous. I upgraded a few years later to a corded hand drill with a dirt auger. I burned out the motor on that drill and its replacement. This year, I upgraded to the Bosch 11255VSR. I was also ambitious and decided to plant 500 tulip bulbs this year. I wanted to see what the drill could do. And it did not disappoint. This is my first time owning a Bosch hammerdrill. It is well constructed. Everything about it seems well made and solid. I liked the SDS-plus attachment system, although I did have to buy an adapter so I could still use the dirt auger. As soon as Bosch makes an SDS-type dirt auger, I will buy that. The drill is incredibly powerful and turned the hard soil up with ease. The side handle made holding it while drilling comfortable. Both my wife and I took turns planting, not because we needed a break but because the other person wanted to try it out and it was so much fun. We have some tile to scrape up in our basement and I think my Bosch will work perfectly for that. I bought an SDS-plus spade bit and a scraper bit. They also seem well made, although I haven't used them yet. Those bits were not inexpensive, but when I think of the total package cost compared to the time that I saved and that fact that I am not going to burn through any more hand drills, the cost was easily justified.
