I’ve read and looked at Fein’s Oscillating Tool for years. I just didn’t see a real need for one, the price was not attractive. I talked about buying a cheap one just to see what the commotion was about, glad I didn't. I received an Oscillating Tool Kit for Christmas, and luckily it was a Bosch. I do own other Bosh Power Tools and Accessories. The tool looked and felt solid, ran very smooth. Now what’s the hype with this type of tool. Amazing I cut off a piece of 2x4 with ease, next was a piece of Red Oak, no problem. Very smooth controlled cutting, and sanding in very tight areas. The next 3 months I’ve cut just about everything, the tool does what the tool is suppose to do. The blades are a little pricy, don’t waste your money on bargain blades, their garbage. I wish the run time was a little longer, but it comes with two batteries that charge very quickly, small and portability is a plus, in tight areas a cord does get in the way. The tool is a specialty tool, it won’t replace a circular saw or a saws all, but it can help accomplish many jobs, faster and better. Tool less blade change, would be nice, not a feature I would look for. Tighten a nut and you know it’s secure, simple enough. Great little tool, once you use one, your hooked.

Works great, would prefer to have toolless blade attachment

Another great quality tool from Bosch. Does everything you'd expect from such a tool but it would sure be great if it had toolless blade attachment. The screw attachment method takes too much time and I'm afraid I'll loose the screw.

Comments about Bosch Tools Multi-X Oscillating Tool Kit:
I bought this over a year ago and have enjoyed using it. It is heavy duty and can work all day long. It is comfortable to use with lots of features. It's a go-to tool for many tasks. Quick to set up, quick to change set-ups, and versatile.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Why I needed it
from Burbank, IL, United States
I bought this tool for it's lightweight and compact size. It works great cutting holes in drywall for outlet boxes. Cutting baseboard for slipping tiles underneath is easier than trying to cut a tile to fit. Sanding in tight cramped placed or small areas is simple. It saved me a lot of time and headaches.
One of the more useful ...
One of the more useful tools in my toolbox. It comes in handy surprisingly often. Does the job but comes with limited attachments. The wood blade seems to be lasting long enough but it smokes a lot when cutting hardwood. In retrospect I should have bought the 3Amp version as the extra power would come in handy. For small lighter jobs it is fine though. Not having the quick release option is more annoying than I thought it would be as it has to be loosened with the allen key even if you want to rotate the blade. Again, the 3 Amp version has this option. I have also had the blade loosen several times. Overall, not too bad for the price but it's probably worth going to the next level if you use it fairly often.

I bought one and didn't use it 2 or 3 times and it quit. I suspect switch but not sure. I had it several months before I ever used it so doubt it's still under warranty. Guess I'll take it to a repair center.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I bought for over a year and it's been handy whenever I needed it. Balanced, good power, and easy to use. Keep in mind that this type of tool in general is a last resort when other dedicated tools fail to do the job.
Why did I wait?

I borrowed a contractor friend's multi-tool several times when he suggested that I used one enough that I needed my own (subtle hint). I now consider it one of my most essential tools. It's worked for shaving door trim, sanding tight spots, removing grout, and clean cutting. Practice makes good cuts better; I sometimes use painter's tape to protect whatever's under the oscillating blade.

I purchased this tool after having to borrowing a rockwell from one of my friends while working on my camper due to limited work space. I purchased the bosch due to the price and most importantly the quality and durability of all my other bosch tools.
Most versatile and now favorite tool I own.
from New Brighton, Pa
Bought this kit in December and find myself getting it out more often then anything except possibly my cordless drill. Nice power and convenient size. Love the easy accessory attachments. Just got done with D.I.Y. remodel of my daughter's bedroom. Used this tool for everything. Cutting siding to replace window, cutting metal Closetmaid products, edge sanding to refinish hardwood floor, sanding window and door. Cutting blades and sanding pads held up nicely.
Quality and value in one tool
from South Amboy, NJ, United States
Received this tool as a gift and put it to use immediately to remove grout on several kitchen floor tiles so they could be removed and replaced. Switched blades to the scraper and easily removed excess adhesive. I was impressed by how little mess the oscillating grout removal blade made. What took a lot of elbow grease with a hand grout removal tool was done in 20 min without breaking a sweat.
You Need This Multi-tool!

Originally was given a Chinese version of this tool as a gift. That tool only lasted through a couple jobs, but it taught me the value of having a multi-tool in my collection. I bought the Bosch version knowing that it would be high quality. Love the versatility and the vast number of attachments available. I use the OSC 118F bi-metal blades most often. Has been very useful for a wooden boat restoration. Fantastic tool. You need one in your collection too.
