I use this in my dorm room at school. It works great! I usually have to empty it about every other day but then again I have it running constantly. It can be loud at times, but makes the perfect amount of noise to drown out all the noise in my hall when I'm trying to sleep. The only downfall is how heavy it is. My football playing boyfriend lifted it with ease, but me..not so much!

The dehumidifier is pulling more humidity out of the air in our basement playroom than I could have imagined. I thought I would have to empty it like once a week and it is filling the large tank in like 2 days. The musty smell from the basement is gone and none of the stuffed animals have been damp feeling since we put it down there. Is a great product and great value.

This product does exactly what I need it to! I had encountered this particular model in a hotel room this summer and fell in love with how easy it was to use. Some have complained of the noise, but I use it in my bedroom and find it very relaxing. It blocks out other sounds and disturbances, so I actually have been sleeping better. The water chamber is super easy to pull out, empty and slides right back in. A very user friendly unit and it does it's job very well. I have a two bedroom home and I have noticed a tremendous difference in the humidity level throughout the house. Plus I think it helps the air conditioner be more effecient.

I just switch it on an hour or two before going to sleep. Turn it off right before. The only thing when its on it sounds like an exhaust fan. Sounds like a fan set on hi when in the same room but if you are in an adjacent room with the door open its not noticeable.

Works as hoped

We have a home north of Houston. We were not using our air conditioner and it has been an extremely wet summer. The subsequent humidity saw to the onset of a mold problem in our home. Our doors and furniture began to warp. Drastic steps needed to be taken to stop if not reverse the damage. We purchased the above dehumidifier. It works well. It is a little loud, so we run it when we are away during the day. We've sealed up the house, started to run the air, scrubbed the mold from where we found it, and now count on the dehumidifier to correct the damage. It has already done its job and then some. The doors close as they should now. The dehumidifer is on wheels, rolls easily from room to room. The settings "dry", "dryer", and "continuous run" are sufficient. One thing i might change: the drip bucket does not fill even 3/4 before the unit shuts itself off. There is an adjustable level for high and low water. I have the setting to allow the most water in the bucket, but still it could hold more before shutting off. Warm air does come out the back of the unit, but is not an issue. Gallons and gallons and gallons of water we have sucked from the air and furniture and carpet of our home. This was a real home-saver.

To keep humidity out of unnfinished basement areas.Compressor is relatively quiet and unit is compact and easy to move from one area to another. I use a fan to circulate the air and the unit does a good job of removing humidity from a 600 sq. ft. area. I bought this unit because of the Energy Star rating and excellent price. Everything in my garage is starting to rust from the humidity and hopefully this little machine will be the cure. I have been amazed with the amount of water that it has removed already, a full bucket twice a day. I am watering the raspberry bushes with it. Since I use it in the garage, I am not sure if it would be concidered loud or large for in the home. It suits my need perfectly.

I was concerned about reports in other reviews about the noise level. It is too noisy to be in the same room with--but we have it in the basement, and can't hear it upstairs, so it is fine. The water pan itself is OK--but if you attach a hose that runs out of the pan which means 1) there is standing water in the pan that I guess should be dumped out periodically, and 2) it is inconvenient to do that, since you have to unattach the hose. I guess this is one of the features that keeps this unit inexpensive . . . so far, this hasn't made me wish I'd spent more money.

The first couple of days it was set too high and the grill froze over. I suppose that's a good thing if that means that it has the capacity to handle our basement area. When the humidity gets high (especially in the spring when we get most of our rain!) but the temperature is not that warm, I frequently suffer from sinus migraines. I am very dissappointed with the noise level of the dehumidifier, it is very annoying. All other features are as expected.

I purchased this for my basement and have had it for just over a month now. It does not work when the basement is too cold, but when I use a heater in the basement it works great. It sucks out most moisture and has helped get rid of the musty smell. It also seems to work well in large areas, since my basement is larger than the recommended area and I haven't had a problem. It is quite loud (slightly louder than a running refrigerator), so if you are looking for something really quiet this may not be for you. If you are using it in a different room than you are in though, you cannot hear it. If you are going to be using it in a fairly cold basement, though, I would recommend a more expensive model that works at colder temperatures.

Works, but is loud

We're currently using this dehumidifier in our bedroom where we have been having some serious humidity issues this winter since the house has been closed up. It does a good job, keeping the humidity at around 40-45% when it is on where it used to be closer to 70%. However, we've found this product to be quite loud and has a tendency to rattle annoyingly. I am not sure if this is because we have it on carpet and it is not sitting correctly. Because of this, we tend to turn it off at night, and the humidity goes right back up when it's off. Additionally, the water bucket is a bit difficult at times. It does not sit on the rest of the unit particularily well and if it is nudged can shut it off. In summary, it works as a fine dehumidifier for a small place, but don't expect any frills.

Although a good product for the price there are some limitations that should be in the specs. One is the lack of a heating coil in event of freeze up and the 65 degree limiting temperature in which it is effective. So it is not the best choice for an unheated basement. I would have chosen the model with the two speed fan which can operate at 55 degrees. I get a small amount of leakage under the unit.

This product met our expectations. It has removed the humidity, is not too noisy, easy to empty, easy to move around, delivered on time and in perfect condition. I recommend it to anyone that needs a humidifier.

Great, American-made product

We replaced a 15 year old dehumidifier with this one. We chose this because it seemed more solidly built than the cheaper ones that were imported from China. It's very quiet, good looking, and Energy Star efficient, which is what we wanted.

Good Product

It works effectively. Easy to set up. Because of the samll pan I need to empty it often, however if the pan was larger it would be much heavier and harder to lift up. This is the perfect combination

The unit had a defective level switch where it wouldn't turn off when full. The people in the help center were helpful, and I did get a quick response. The Unit is very noisey but it was fairly cheep. I would probably spend a few more $ for a better unit.

Cannot think of anything negative to say about this marvelous product. Sucks the moisture out of our basement like you wouldn't believe. So lightweight, so easy to use, great price -- couldn't ask for more. And it's QUIET -- when it's in the next room you can barely hear it. (Naturally if you're in the same room you can hear it. But if it's in your basement you won't hear a thing.)

We use it to dehumidify our whole basement. It never gets much under 50%, but that is about as low as we want to go.

For the price this is a great little dehumidifier. The reviews I had seen were accurate, it is loud, however, since it is located in my basement that was not an issue for me. There are no bells and whistles on this unit, very simple to run. Run it does and dehumidifies the basement area just fine. Small unit, easy to move and easy to empty. I am very pleased w/the price and its dependable simple operation.

It works great at removing moisture, but it also ends up heating up the room a bit, especially if used in a small room. It's also extremely noisy. So it worked best to put it in an adjacent room.

Gets the job done

Does just what it should, and effectively, too. A bit louder than I'd like, but it's located near my office desk, so that's why. Anywhere else it'd be no bother at all. Turned my basement from faintly unpleasant to clear in just a day, and has kept it that way.

The dehumidifier is exactly what I needed! The summer humidity was killing me, but as soon as I got the Whirlpool Dehumidifier, all the moisture in my bedroom was being sucked away - up to a gallon a day! I love the power it has and how much of a difference it makes!

Nice design, white in color. Easy to read / adjust buttons from OFF to moist to dry to dryer to continuous run. Orange light on top of unit illuminates when bucket is full. Easy to remove bucket. Only con is the unit makes a little more noise than expected.

This is a great dehumidifier at a great price. The bedroom of our apartment is below ground and after living there for a couple of months we noticed that our clothes felt damp sometimes and it was smelling a little musty. This dehumidifier did the trick. We turned it on the first day and let it run all day. It removed a full bucket of water. No wonder everything in that room felt damp. It's a little loud, but this is easily solved by turning it off when you need to have some quiet time. I would definitely recommend this product.
