Our original appliances were over 14 years old and while still functioning were showing their age. We needed a slide in model which limited our options to some degree. In addition, my wife did not want stainless steel mainly because she did like the look but the stories about them needed extra cleaning to keep them looking clean was a factor as well. We visited most of the big box stores and read a ton of reviews on line and decided that the new "slate" finish on the GE line met my wife's design/color requirements and the overall reviews were good but we were concerned about several reviews that mentioned a noisy fan that ran all the time and there were no knobs did not have detentes so the burners were subject to being turned on accidentally. I installed the stove my self, installing the recommend new cord, leveling and sliding the unit into place took less than an hour. We also noticed that the control knobs did have detentes (a pleasing plus) and there were notices attached to the unit indicating that a cooling fan to safe guard the electronic could continue to run after the oven/burners are turned off. After using the oven we did notice the fan ran for a while but noise level was quite low. The anti-tipping bracket was easy to install and the unit came with three oven racks. So far the oven seems to be bake things a little quicker then the old oven even without using the convection option.

We bought this slide in range 2 weeks before Thanksgiving 2014. The smooth top extending over the counter tops is a great feature for easy cleaning, and the shiny black and stainless steel design is a beautiful addition to the kitchen. The various burner sizes available are a very nice option. If we were occasional cooks this range would be fine. As far as function and durability are concerned, it does not suit our needs. Function - Oven temperature regulation has been a disappointing challenge. On Thanksgiving the oven temperature was so inaccurate that the turkey was cooking too fast at first, and then not enough after the temperature was lowered, causing us to eat more than an hour later than planned. Baking was also a very unsatisfactory experience. After purchasing an oven thermometer, it was determined that the actual temperature could be as much as 100 degrees lower than the display at times, and fluctuated between 25 and 50 degrees off at others. In December, we managed to change the settings on the control panel and it seems better, but still has to be tested further. -The stovetop burners are not as quick heating as we had hoped, though an improvement over our previous, very slow heating glass top stove. Durability: (radiant stovetop & stainless) It seems counterproductive to always be concerned with how we use pots and pans-- move or turn them--and which are acceptable-- in order to prevent scratches and damage on the cooktop and stainless steel front. During the holidays, someone helping with cooking almost dragged a pot across the stove, which could have easily been disastrous. Another guest accidentally used the wrong side of the sponge lightly on the front around the knobs, and now we have very noticeable scratches in the stainless steel on a product we’ve owned less than two months. It seems silly but we’ll have to constantly give visitors a tutorial on how to gingerly use the cooktop. We had hoped that our new range would be a durable, efficient appliance in our busy kitchen, not a delicate showpiece. This was not the right purchase for our needs.

hard to keep clean
I bought this online in an appliance package. I am not happy. I should have done more research. The ceramic cook top is impossible to keep clean. Even a drop of water leaves a difficult to remove stain. I purchased the ceramabryte cleaner and sponges, but it's seriously a 5 step process to get this thing clean. Very frustrating. The control panel is indented so any little pieces of food fall in and get stuck in the corners. It's like the person who designed this has never cooked before. The oven itself works pretty well and the steam clean function is nice if you don't want to do the super hot and long full clean.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Had it for 3 months now and no complaints. Stove top sides extend over the countertop and stops solids from dropping down the crack. Front right element has 3 power settings. Like most stoves the storage tray underneath is a bit flimsy but overall we are very pleased with it.

This Range is everything I was looking for and more.
Love love love the sleek design
When it was time to purchase our range it had already been discussed... For my husband, it HAD to be GE products and for me, I wanted a front control panel. VOILA.... and here it is. Love the slate instead of stainless steel...less upkeep. Love the design and opted out of the double oven as we chose a combination microwave/convection oven fan over the range instead and with the convection oven in the range already I have no regrets.
Good and Bad

Good features -- Stove-top is easier to clean than glass-top stove. Stove is attractive to look at, but: Disappointments -- Oven light bulb burned out 3 months after installation, and replaced bulb burned out 9 days later. Sometimes, oven door makes popping noise when oven is heated. Oven light bulb in difficult location to be replaced. Stove-top coils are difficult to remove & replace. Would recommend this stove ONLY WITH RESERVATIONS!!!!!!

I love this range it has all the exact features we were looking for.The exposed coils were our main feature and the front mounted controls so that my wife did not have to reach across a hot surface and possibly get burned. Our old stove was out dated this fit our kitchen very nicely, the design was really perfect .
