I bought this to replace a LG convection oven that I purchased 10 years ago. I am struggling to get my baked goods right. It seems to have a smaller interior than my previous oven and baked goods are becoming a challenge and I bake weekly (a lot at one time.) I find taking out the upper rack and just using the middle one to be a good solution, but that negates the ability to bake more at one time when you have one less rack installed. It does heat up quickly and maintains its temperature (I have a oven thermometer). I like having all the controls in front instead of having to reach behind. The range portion is very sleek and heats water very quickly and is easy to clean. I'm sure I will work out the kinks with the oven portion in time.

We bought this slide in range 2 weeks before Thanksgiving 2014. The smooth top extending over the counter tops is a great feature for easy cleaning, and the shiny black and stainless steel design is a beautiful addition to the kitchen. The various burner sizes available are a very nice option. If we were occasional cooks this range would be fine. As far as function and durability are concerned, it does not suit our needs. Function - Oven temperature regulation has been a disappointing challenge. On Thanksgiving the oven temperature was so inaccurate that the turkey was cooking too fast at first, and then not enough after the temperature was lowered, causing us to eat more than an hour later than planned. Baking was also a very unsatisfactory experience. After purchasing an oven thermometer, it was determined that the actual temperature could be as much as 100 degrees lower than the display at times, and fluctuated between 25 and 50 degrees off at others. In December, we managed to change the settings on the control panel and it seems better, but still has to be tested further. -The stovetop burners are not as quick heating as we had hoped, though an improvement over our previous, very slow heating glass top stove. Durability: (radiant stovetop & stainless) It seems counterproductive to always be concerned with how we use pots and pans-- move or turn them--and which are acceptable-- in order to prevent scratches and damage on the cooktop and stainless steel front. During the holidays, someone helping with cooking almost dragged a pot across the stove, which could have easily been disastrous. Another guest accidentally used the wrong side of the sponge lightly on the front around the knobs, and now we have very noticeable scratches in the stainless steel on a product we’ve owned less than two months. It seems silly but we’ll have to constantly give visitors a tutorial on how to gingerly use the cooktop. We had hoped that our new range would be a durable, efficient appliance in our busy kitchen, not a delicate showpiece. This was not the right purchase for our needs.

Uneven cooktop burns everything
from Kansas City, KS, United States
Comments about GE 30" Slate Slide-In Electric Convection Range:
When I first used this cooktop I had an issue with it burning things if I used the large setting on the burner on the right. I had GE come to look at it. They agreed it should not be working as it was. If I set a pan of water on both the left and the right burners on a setting of 3, the one on the right will boil. The one on the left would simmer as you would expect. The repairman ordered parts. He came the second time to install them. It completely rendered the stove inoperable. He ordered them again. After that, it was still working as it was when I had originally complained. I was told it was "working as designed" and I should just cook everything on a 1 or a 2 setting! I am unhappy and plan to return the product even though I am probably stuck with a 15% restocking fee.

Iam extremely pleased with this double oven concept. What better way to save energy then to use the smaller over when cooking for two! Extremely happy.

Love the small oven...use it all the time!! Controls are touchy....I keep them locked because very easy to accidentally turn on a burner.

The convection and speed boil features are great! I've never made cookies so quick in all my years of cooking and have them all turn out the same.

Brand new, used just a couple of times. Cooks faster than my old stove so will have to pay attention. Over all appearance, the slate color is beautiful in my kitchen!
Looks and works great!

This is a great looking stove and it blends beautifully with our counter tops and stone backspash. I highly recommend GE's slate appliances for the sophisticated look and easy maintanence. In the two months I have owned this product, there has been very limited finger smudging and it is very easy to wipe off with a towel. The cooktop cleans nicely and both stove and oven cook evenly.

I wanted the look of a slide in range in slate. I like the ease of cleaning smooth surface.

Only had this range a couple days and everything seem to work correctly. I had another one like this for the past 25 years.
