We've had this model for a month now and I love it. We have had no mechanical problems. Cost was comparable to other similar models. Set up was simple. Shelving and drawers are durable. Can fit lots of things inside including multiple gallon size containers. Unit runs quietly. 2 of the 4 drawers are quite small. Overall very impressed by product.

We've had this unit for about a month. The first thing we discovered is that unless you can open the door more than 90 degrees, you can't pull out the two right-hand veggie drawers. (We had inquired about this very problem, and were told 90 degrees was sufficient, so apparently the people at Whirlpool have bad info.) Since our fridge is next to a wall, this was a problem. We dealt with it by removing the top drawer altogether (and just using that area as a shelf) and then angling the whole unit slightly askew to the left, so that we can open the bottom drawer just enough to put in and take out small items that we don't use very often (certain condiments). The second issue is that the support for that shelf I refer to above is just a flimsy piece of plastic. I suppose this would be fine if we were able to keep the drawer in place for more support, but we have to be VERY careful not to knock this piece of plastic aside or break it. It has come out once--it's just wedged in there--but so far we have been able to put it back okay and keep using the shelf. Oh, and one other problem: to get it to run at an appropriate temp, we had to set it on the lower setting. I have a refrigerator thermometer, and the factory setting only produced a temp of about 42. Since 38-40 is optimal, we have been running it at the lower setting. Since there is no knob to turn, you only have three choices for settings and you can't fine-tune it. Frankly, we would have gone for another item but this was the ONLY all-fridge ANYWHERE we could find that would fit into the spot where our old one (Woods) was. What is the deal with the refrigerator industry!!!??? Also, please keep making white fridges; not everyone wants stainless steel (ugh).

Chef's home Kitchen Refrigerator

Comments about Whirlpool SideKicks White Ice Freezerless Refrigerator:
The previous whirlpool refrigerator leaked constantly and no one could repair it. This was the only one that fit my kitchen that was designed around the previous whirlpool specifications. The new layout is NOT useful I lost condiment shelves on the door. The pizza rack is of no use for a chef or home cook who does not use prepared pizza. The large shelf on the door is too tall. We do not drink soda. We need space for milk and cream and then the smaller shelf for condiments. The extra veggie keepers took away shelf space. I am constantly moving things to find something. Unfortunately this is the only one that fits my kitchen. It keeps things cold looks nice but the configuration is terrible!!

Poorest Quality Ever - Buy Any Brand But This One

Like several other reviewers, we built a new home in 2014 and had the kitchen built out to accommodate the Whirlpool Sidekick refrigerator and freezer. In late 2016, the freezer stopped working. It was a freon leak, and a repairman came out several times to solve the problem. Finally, it was determined that the leak could not be fixed. So, we had no choice, but to purchase a new freezer. Once it got here, Whirlpool had changed the model, including the external appearance. Now, we are forced to also purchase a new refrigerator in order for the two units to match. I was hoping that the model revision would address the freon leak issue, but based on recent reviews, it is apparent that isn't the case. Like others who have reviewed these Sidekicks, we had to throw out a lot of food, and this has been going on since mid-December (it is now the first week in February). So, we had no freezer over the Christmas and New Years holidays, which means no ice. We have to purchase food a little bit at a time, so we can be sure to cook it before it goes bad. I'm betting these Whirlpool Sidekicks are made in China now, because in years past, Whirlpool had a great reputation for making quality products. Not so anymore.
The shelving options give me a place for everthing.

Purchased this refrigerator over a month ago, and so far we are very satisfied. Love the sleek look. Fingerprints do show but it cleans easily. If I could change one thing, it would be the versatility of shelf spacing.

This refrigerator is far and away the worst purchase I have ever made. First unit didn't work when it was delivered. Second unit lasted 4 months before it stopped working due to what appears to be a freon leak. More than $300 in food ruined. After reading reviews on other sites this appears to be a regular occurrence. They will replace it with another faulty unit that breaks and spoils more food. Obviously this is either a known design flaw or consistently poor manufacturing.

Terrible! We are now waiting for our 3red one to be delivered and just built our house 18 months ago! The "approved" whirlpool warranty company is equally terrible...would not buy this or the matching freezer again!
