This Whirpool Cabrio is my first high efficiency (HE) washer. I was a little apprehensive about buying it, mainly because of the not-so-good reviews others have written about HE washers. I've always owned basic agitator-type machines that let me be in total control. I thought no way could I ever get a good wash without me being in charge of the water level, or being able to open the lid to poke around and check on how things were moving, tweaking this or that as I saw fit. I didn't want to give that up. So basically, my reluctance about owning a HE washer was that it uses new engineering and a philosophy that says: "Look, you put in the clothes and go away. We're gonna' lock the lid, adjust the water automatically, and wash your clothes in a way that we've vetted to be best, despite what you think you know. By the way, we'll beep when we're done. Trust us!" I didn't know if I was ready to put such blind faith into the concepts of some faraway washing machine engineers, but I pondered this: These engineers have scrutinized laundry in their labs and they are experts! They use computers, math, science, maybe even algebra! This is what they do for a living. They have wash-water in the veins! With all this know-how, they've figured out better ways to wash clothes, like how to do a better job with less water. They know what they're doing. In my little laundry room with not one computer, how could I possibly think I know more than they know? I decided to go for it.Well, despite my pre-purchase apprehension, I have to say I'm totally happy with my new HE Whirlpool Cabrio washer. I've ceded total control to the engineers and to the logic they've built into this magic white box. The Cabrio really "knows what it's doing" and the clothes come out clean and fresh! The electronic controls are not nearly as intimidating as they might look initially. In fact, the controls and the machine itself are a joy to operate. I actually look forward to using my washer! Go figure!A word about noise: I now know that high-efficiency washers work differently and make sounds that are noticeably different than older style washers. It's really unfair that some (possibly confused) reviewers characterize these "different" sounds as noise. To me, noise is a high decibel, annoying sound that makes a person want to cover his/her ears. The Cabrio is no way like that. It's very quiet. If I'm close to it when it's in a wash or rinse cycle, yes, I can hear its subdued grunting. But this low-level sound is hardly noticeable when I walk away. It's incredibly quiet when spinning to extract water, even though when I put my hand on the lid I can sense that the drum is really flying! It extracts a lot of water! And it's solid as a rock on the floor thru all cycles, including the super-fast spinning.I never mind spending money on well-built things. To me, the Cabrio feels solid and well-built. Compared to other washers that I checked, I feel I got an outstanding value. It's a solid, technically advanced washer that does a great job for a decent price. I bought the matching Cabrio dryer. I'm very happy and I would recommend these machines to anyone. After writing this, I almost wish it were wash day! Good luck!

This washer always leaves white soap residue on my dark clothes...Service has been out and say that nothing is wrong. Customer Support tell me to try different settings...Deep water, Mixed, Extra Rinse, HE detergent (Tide) and don't put too many clothes in, don't put over the center and bunch them rather than laying flat. Even after all that they still have residue and have to be washed again with no laundry detergent. Very unhappy!

Good mid level washer
from Chicago, IL
I bought the cabrio as a replacement for a failed Maytag. The whirlpool doesn't look at sharp or high end but seems to get the job done. I have had a few problems with clothes not appearing washed enough or coming out soaking wet after a cycle. Both were resolved with completing another cycle. The whirlpppl is quieter than I thought. Hopefully it holds up longer than my Maytag!
So far, so good!

I bought the washer and dryer about 2 months ago and am very satisfied so far. Both do a very good job and as long as there are no mechanical issues in the future, I would give it 5 stars! It's very easy to operate & love all the options.

An Excellent Investment

Last Friday had my second wash of the week use and love it! It is as quite as an electric car and our clothes even seem cleaner. Being the guy that washes the clothes in our household the ease of use is perfect. Not a lot of buttons to push but easy settings.

Really impressed with the wash quality we've gotten from this Cabrio. Lots of flexibility in cycle choices but easy to be comfortable setting them up. Powerful but quiet spin makes clothes well-prepared to dry. And even the chimes are pleasant, piano-like tones.
So far so good

Just moving in the house I've only had this for a few weeks but everything it's good so far
Great features; it's so quiet that you hardly know the cloth

I bought the washer about three weeks ago and I love it. It is very energy efficient and saves a great deal of water.

Great washer and you barely hear it which is good but it does need a louder "end of cycle" noise maker.
Love it my clothes are so clean
from Mastic NY
I've had it for about a month and I'm very happy with the way it cleans my clothes. An does bonus is that it has a fabric softener dispenser and one for bleach . It does all the work you just push the buttons and your clothes come out clean and they even smell so good, not to mention the fact that it uses less water and saves significantly on drying time
