I bought this dishwasher on the advice of a Consumer Report review. They were right on. The only noise from this appliance is the slight sloshing in the sink trap when discharging. While in operation, it is silent. I would recommend this product to my best friends. This is the quietest dishwasher I have ever owned and the best appliance I have owned in my lifetime (74 years).

This dishwasher did not meet my expectations for these reasons:1) The website for KDTM354ESS shows a third rack for kitchen utensils, but the unit does NOT come with it (see attached picture from their website).2) The unit leaves excessive moisture on the inside overnight. I've used many dishwashers over the decades and never saw this issue before.3) The unit's design can cause damage to the cabinets. The reason for this is there's a vent on the SIDE of the door. The installation instructions indicate the unit is to be installed flush with the cabinets. However, this side vent on the unit installed as instructed causes two issues for me:a) The steam directly hits the cabinet face, which becomes extremely hot to the touch.b) Steam entered the inside of my cabinet interior. It then condensed on the underside of the granite and dripped down inside the cabinet interior onto the cabinet.4) The User Instructions clearly state the heated drying cycle "Uses the heating element and a fan to remove moist air." However, I never heard the fan run during the heated drying cycle (with or without ProDry selected). When I made a service call to say that the fan never runs during the heated drying cycle, the service tech was told by the tech on their hotline that the fan is operating normally (i.e. it's not supposed to run during the heated drying cycle - the opposite of what the User directions say). This is important because the fan is designed to exhaust air out of the BOTTOM of the unit instead of allowing steam to escape out of the top side of the unit through the vent mentioned in #3.I'm completely dissatisfied with my purchase.

We purchased this dishwasher for our new home and we love it. It runs very quiet and the dishes come out clean, unlike are other bosch dishwasher. Would highly recommend this appliance.

The dishwasher is very quiet and washes the dishes very thoroughly, including getting off the dark stains from the copper bottoms of our old kettles.
This is the best dishwasher I have ever owned!

Best cleaning power I have see & we are not known for pre-washing. Everything sparkles, it motivated me to clean my best crystal & I was so impressed! So quiet I check to make sure it's running.

At my old house I had "24'' 5-Cycle/6-Option Dishwasher, Architect® Series II" It was a much quieter and better dishwasher. Things that would get cleaned perfectly in that washer are left dirty in this one. I would recommend that over this, having had both dishwashers.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Everything turns out to be expected. The only problem is it is not completely dry after each and every cycle.

We've only had the dishwasher for one week now, but it is as quiet as advertised and cleans and dries well. We haven't yet put in very soiled pots or pans, so I'm not sure I'm comfortable with putting any good pot or pan in any dishwasher. Easy to use and did I already say, very quiet.
I bought this dishwasher in August, and it worked well for less than 3 months when the heating coil became dysfunctional. It took 10 days to get a local repairman who could work under the warranty, and it was determined that the circuit board for the heater was blown. Two weeks later, the backordered part still hasn't arrived and the service center won't schedule the repair until the part arrives. I'm so disappointed that a new dishwasher from a brand I trusted has left me in the lurch for at least a month over the holidays. I'll certainly never choose to spend this kind of money on a Kitchenaid appliance again.
