It is so quiet that I have to check if I started it! Glasses sparkle and dishes shine! One tiny annoyance is that the holes in the silverware divider are different sizes (every other row is small then bigger) and my forks and tablespoons only fit in the bigger ones and I can't tell which are the bigger holes when there is already silverware in it! I suppose I could remove the basket covers but I like the way the silverware comes out cleaner when separare! It's always a 50-50 shot that my forks and tablespoons will drop into the basket! Otherwise love it!

This dishwasher did not meet my expectations for these reasons:1) The website for KDTM354ESS shows a third rack for kitchen utensils, but the unit does NOT come with it (see attached picture from their website).2) The unit leaves excessive moisture on the inside overnight. I've used many dishwashers over the decades and never saw this issue before.3) The unit's design can cause damage to the cabinets. The reason for this is there's a vent on the SIDE of the door. The installation instructions indicate the unit is to be installed flush with the cabinets. However, this side vent on the unit installed as instructed causes two issues for me:a) The steam directly hits the cabinet face, which becomes extremely hot to the touch.b) Steam entered the inside of my cabinet interior. It then condensed on the underside of the granite and dripped down inside the cabinet interior onto the cabinet.4) The User Instructions clearly state the heated drying cycle "Uses the heating element and a fan to remove moist air." However, I never heard the fan run during the heated drying cycle (with or without ProDry selected). When I made a service call to say that the fan never runs during the heated drying cycle, the service tech was told by the tech on their hotline that the fan is operating normally (i.e. it's not supposed to run during the heated drying cycle - the opposite of what the User directions say). This is important because the fan is designed to exhaust air out of the BOTTOM of the unit instead of allowing steam to escape out of the top side of the unit through the vent mentioned in #3.I'm completely dissatisfied with my purchase.

Comments about KitchenAid Stainless Steel Built-In Dishwasher:
We replaced A Samsung Dishwasher that did a fantastic job but after two years started giving us problems until the dealer had us return it and gave us a good credit for on a new machine. After reviewing the various dishwashers recommended by a leading Consumers magazine, we selected the Kitchenaid which had the highest rating of all the machines. We've had the machine for a couple of weeks and love it so far. It blasts the burned on food off the cookware. If it holds up for the average life span of a dishwasher (10-Years) we'll be very happy with it. It isn't a cheap machine but it's a great dishwasher.

Great new dishwasher

We replaced an older KitchenAid with this newer model.First of all it was top in consumer reports ratings and we can verify thisThe dishes are cleaner than ever, the drawers and the powerwash are awesome. We do have a minor difficult fitting some of the silverware in the not so wide slots.. but there are enough wide slots that so far it does not bother us. And like all stainless appliances the finish does not quite match our other stainless kitchen products. It is quiet and we love the light on the front so we don't have to bend over to be sure its running. All in all this is an A+ machine
Cleans Well and Quiet

I previously owned a KitchenAid dishwasher which lasted over 10 years. After researching all the trending models available I chose this one because of the clean water wash system, the low dBA rating and the heated drying option which is not available on some of the other manufacturer's models. I like the door seal which is very nicely designed and the new touchpad is both informative and sensitive. Price was inline with other high end units but worth the cost. One particular review I read on dishwasher units was very positive about the clean water wash system and this is what convinced me this would be a good choice. Also received an installation rebate from the manufacturer .I would have preferred the architectural handle but that style handle was not available on the yet to be purchased downdraft range.

Love the drying feature. One of the very few that have an actual drying feature.

KitchAid Dishwasher...a great partner in the kitchen
from Mount Vernon, WA
We recently finished the remodel of our kitchen with the final touches of new appliances. They are all KitchenAid and we are so pleased. The dishwasher is a great partner in the kitchen. It is very quite, but oh so powerful and efficient. The rack options certainly give me options of placement for those oversized or odd-sized dishes. The utensil holder is great in that it allows for more separation of items during the cleaning cycle thus less frustration for things that just didn't get cleaned. Loading is easy. We are really pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend to anyone considering a KitchAid dishwasher.

My sister recommended KitchenAid and said that she had nothing but good things to say about her clean dishes. I totally agree with everything she said and then some .
