I read reviews and knew this player didn't have a power light. The features and the brand name Samsung convinced me to buy this player anyways. I am glad I did. Small and compact. It fits nicely on my entertainment center. The features and ease of use is better than other players I have had. Set-up took less than three minutes. I really like the fact that I can wirelessly connect to my Samsung TV. The only thing I don't like is not knowing if I left the player on just by looking at the front.

Easy to control and picture is fine. There's just one weird problem. I also have a regular DVD player, a gaming device and the cable box going into other inputs on the TV. After using the Samsung player, when I switch away from the HDMI input it uses (for example to go back to regular TV shows), it pulls the input right back to itself and "takes over." I have to change input several times or shut the power off on all the devices to regain control of the inputs. I've used this TV for years with multiple devices (and its remote control). It's not the TV. It's the Samsung BD device.

I have several Samsung BD players.

Comments about Samsung Black 3D Blu-ray Disc Player:
What I like about the BD-J5900 is the Power and Eject buttons. A power on LED would be helpful. The TOOLS feature is easy to use.

BD-J5900 Blu-ray Player is Excellent
from Northern California
Extremely easy to setup, and just the right sort of "smarts" to interact with our Samsung TV. Put in a DVD -- that automatically starts the player, turns on the TV and switches the TV's input to the player. We have perused some of the apps available and expect we'll use Amazon Prime regularly. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note tablet, and the BD-J5900 provides easy-to-engage screen mirroring to the TV, including disabling the speakers on the tablet and projecting the sound to the TV speakers.
Pretty good, a few annoyances
from Wheeling, IL
Overall, this works well. I do, however, wish it had a display on the device, so I can tell if it's is turned on or not.
Stopped working in less than a month
No lights or anything to even show you that is on Stopped working in less than 30 days used it for 3 days That will teach me, back to their competitor
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
This product is lacking a convenience feature.
from Crescent City, CA, USA
There are NO lights to indicate it is working or turned off, it's just a black box. Other than that, it's a great, inexpensive Blu-Ray Player!
from River Forest
There is NO POWER LIGHT so the only way you can tell if the unit is on or off is go to your sources on your TV !

A nice blu ray DVD player

It's nice but I should have got the current one...
This product can replace your Roku
from Sacramento, CA
If you do not have a "smart TV", this player would be a good addition. We were getting access to Netflix using a Roku device, but now all we need is to go to the input from the player instead. Not to say Roku is not great. We loved it. Now it is just unnecessary.
THIS IT THE BEST PRODUCT of the WORLD
If am not buy a samsung brand i do not buy anything because it's not match for it.
from Mesa, AZ
Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Since there is no power light, I eject the tray to make sure it's turned on.
