I've had at least half a dozen of the Hoover spin brush rug cleaners for years and unfortunately the spin brushes always seem to stop working pretty early on in the life of the unit. So, I have been pleased to see Hoover come out with the other type of standard roller brush. I recently had to replace a Bissell unit of my Mother's for her townhome carpet and found the Power Path to be well-priced and a great performing little unit, surpassing it's larger predecessors whether it be Hoover or Bissell. Great unit and I appreciate the simplicity of it, it's smaller size and light weight. Finally a better rug cleaner. Great for people who have dogs. Would like to see an upgrade of this same unit with a small upholstery attachments. But for what it is and the price, this one is GREAT!

I never post poor reviews and I automatically distrust reviews that are completely negative, but I really can't think of one good thing to say about this machine. Let me state that I read the instructions, then went back and re-read them, and then re-read them a few more times to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. I double and triple checked to make sure everything was assembled properly, and everything was. Here's what I found: 1. The machine does not suck up the dirty water. I tried this on plush carpeting, low-pile carpeting and Berber, and the results were the same: the carpet was soaking wet. After dispensing a full tank of cleaning solution, there was only about an inch of it sucked up into the dirty water tank. No matter how many times I went over the carpet, hardly any of the water got sucked up. 2. The brushes may be damaging. I thought the twin brushes would do a great job of cleaning, but after a few minutes of use, there was a lot of loose fiber in the brush housing. I'm not sure if the brushes were tearing up the carpet, but it seemed that way. The section of the low-pile rug I did definitely looks different than the rest of the rug. I didn't notice any change to the Berber or plush, though. 3. The machine spews filthy water all over your rug as soon as you turn it off. This was by far the worst fault of this machine. I can live with a wet rug; it'll dry. I can live with some wear and tear; it's going to happen anyway. This was too much. And there's nothing you can do about it, other than try to clean it up by hand, because the machine won't suck up the dirty water. If you have one of these already, my advice is to move it to a safe area--like tile or linoleum--before you turn it off. This was a complete waste of money and I ended up buying another brand (the same kind I had before) and am happy with that one. This is doubly disappointing because Hoover is like the Gold Standard in floor care and this machine is not worthy of the name. I did not get to try the upholstery tools, so cannot comment on them.

Could be great, but came with a flaw

By

from Iowa, United States

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

Purchased this product to replace my 10 year old Hoover. I liked the idea of the dual brushes, as the old 360 design on its own I never have felt was powerful enough. Let me tell you, the combination of the two styles of brushes certainly are. If you think you have done a good enough job vacuuming your carpet before using this carpet cleaner, go ahead and make another pass, as this machine will show you all of the dust and dirt between your carpet fibers. I gave this a lower rating because the gasket on the water return tank came off on my very first empty and is near impossible to get back on correctly to get the proper suction you need. Hoping customer service gets back to me soon. If the gasket had not failed on the first use I would have rated it at least a 4 if not a 5.

Worst carpet cleaner we have ever owned

By

from Grand Rapids, MI

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

I can use 2 tanks of cleaner/water and it will take 1/2 of one tank out. Carpet stayed wet for days. Also you can't just suck water out without brushes spinning. We replaced a 10 year old cleaner with this. We should have returned it but didn't.

Poor quality

By

from Parker, CO, United States

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

This is the worst built product. The motor went out on the first one after only having it for about 7 months took it back and exchanged it for another one and this one only lasted 6 months before the motor went out.

Buyer Beware

By

from Nebraska

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

This product DOES NOT clean like this says it does! I have TRIED to clean our carpet twice and STILL dirty! We are not dirty people we just wanted the carpet cleaned! It doesn't pickup dirty water! If you put the cleaning tank in just a bit wonky good luck getting it out! If you are looking for a carpet "washer" look at something else. I wish we never bought this! We are now "Stuck" with a lemon!

Money down the drain

By

from Florence, KY, United States

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

My husband bought this for me as a Christmas gift. We are having Christmas at our house this year so he gave it to me early so I could clean the carpets. What a waste of money! It doesn't even suck 1/3 of the water up. My carpets are SOAKED and all the stains are still there. On top of it being a horrible product the silicone gasket in the dirty tank forest fit property so not only did we waste money but we wasted time. A lot of time especially trying to make that gasket fit back in the grooves, which never did! I would really appreciate a refund. You can have this back.

Replacement of Shampooer

By

from Lockport, IL, United States

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

We purchased the floor shampooer and used it twice before the machine became overheated and quit operating. Hoover recommended a local service repair shop. the machine was replaced at no cost. I was surprised and pleased with the quickness and professional help from both the service repair and Hoover in resolving the repairs
