I've had at least half a dozen of the Hoover spin brush rug cleaners for years and unfortunately the spin brushes always seem to stop working pretty early on in the life of the unit. So, I have been pleased to see Hoover come out with the other type of standard roller brush. I recently had to replace a Bissell unit of my Mother's for her townhome carpet and found the Power Path to be well-priced and a great performing little unit, surpassing it's larger predecessors whether it be Hoover or Bissell. Great unit and I appreciate the simplicity of it, it's smaller size and light weight. Finally a better rug cleaner. Great for people who have dogs. Would like to see an upgrade of this same unit with a small upholstery attachments. But for what it is and the price, this one is GREAT!

I never post poor reviews and I automatically distrust reviews that are completely negative, but I really can't think of one good thing to say about this machine. Let me state that I read the instructions, then went back and re-read them, and then re-read them a few more times to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. I double and triple checked to make sure everything was assembled properly, and everything was. Here's what I found: 1. The machine does not suck up the dirty water. I tried this on plush carpeting, low-pile carpeting and Berber, and the results were the same: the carpet was soaking wet. After dispensing a full tank of cleaning solution, there was only about an inch of it sucked up into the dirty water tank. No matter how many times I went over the carpet, hardly any of the water got sucked up. 2. The brushes may be damaging. I thought the twin brushes would do a great job of cleaning, but after a few minutes of use, there was a lot of loose fiber in the brush housing. I'm not sure if the brushes were tearing up the carpet, but it seemed that way. The section of the low-pile rug I did definitely looks different than the rest of the rug. I didn't notice any change to the Berber or plush, though. 3. The machine spews filthy water all over your rug as soon as you turn it off. This was by far the worst fault of this machine. I can live with a wet rug; it'll dry. I can live with some wear and tear; it's going to happen anyway. This was too much. And there's nothing you can do about it, other than try to clean it up by hand, because the machine won't suck up the dirty water. If you have one of these already, my advice is to move it to a safe area--like tile or linoleum--before you turn it off. This was a complete waste of money and I ended up buying another brand (the same kind I had before) and am happy with that one. This is doubly disappointing because Hoover is like the Gold Standard in floor care and this machine is not worthy of the name. I did not get to try the upholstery tools, so cannot comment on them.

Faulty gasket design

By

from Nanaimo, BC, Canada

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

Sadly, I quit using this item after cleaning one room. The gasket on the dirty water reservoir kept falling out of the track resulting in zero suction. It took two people to reseat the gasket each time. This product is being returned to the store tomorrow.

had 2 and they both did same thing

By

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

i bought my first one and with in first 6 months started making loud noise and smoking so they replaced it no problem. Got the replacement had it not even a year and its making the same loud noise and smell something burning. I use them mostly to clean the hard wood (once a month)in my house one in a while use it to clean the indoor out door carpet(maybe 6 times) so not really much effort into cleaning.

I haven't used it yet but the instructions were not correct. I looked everywhere for the lower handle and it is on the clean water dispenser.

Cheaply made

By

from Sicklerville N.J

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

Most of the parts on the cleaner are made of plastic and wear out quickly. This is the second Hoover I have bought and it will be my last.

Guaranteed to fail.

By

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

First use, went well for about 30 minutes. Did not clean well, but did improve the carpet. Tensioner failed sliding the tensioner roller into the holder and melting. Tensioner is destroyed as well as the plate to to motor. Plastic parts that were poorly designed.

Not good at all

By

from Virginia, United States

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

Worst carpet cleaner I've ever used. I'd give this zero stars if I could. Hard to clean, leaves carpet soaking wet, leaks even when you take both basins out and smells horrible. Leaves black marks on carpet. Maybe works ok if you don't have pets or children and live in a biodome.

Cleans well, does not suction well, hand tool leaked all over.

By

from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

I bought this machine this week. Used it to clean my rugs. It cleaned well, however, the rugs were soaked. The suction isn't great. I had to place towels all over the rugs. I used the handheld adapter to clean the steps. The machine leaked by the dirty tank and where the adapter connects. I checked all connections numerous times and it still leaked. The rubber part in the dirty tank comes out and is hard to put in. While doing the steps, the machine stopped working. I don't know if the water leaked into the motor or not. I am very unhappy with this machine. My last original Hoover steam cleaner was over 20 years old and until last week when we did our rugs, it leaked. I thought time to get a new one. I figure get the top of the line. Well, to my surprise it is not top of line, but the bottom. I will call Hoover on Monday and see what can be done to rectify this situation. I would rather have the original steamer than this machine. I do not have the box, I'm not sure what they can do about this. And... if I was to take it to a repair facility, it would probably cost me just as much to repair then to buy a new machine.

Tried leaving a previous review, repsonse didnt help

By

from Saginaw, MI, United States

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

Previously left a review and got a repsonse that had nothing to do with the issue i wrote about. Ended up taking it apart to try and figure out the issue on my own. Come to find out it was a broken plastic piece i have no idea how it would even break. Hoping leaving another review might provide better feedback. Quite ridiculous to have a broken piece that is completely sealed in the machine.

broke in one month

By

from WV, United States

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

I've only had the power path deluxe carpet washer for a month. I've used it 3 times. On the 4th time the belt started making a loud screeching noise. When my husband looked at the belt it had burned and rubbed the plastic that the belt was attched to so much that it flattened one side. Not very happy.

Could be great, but came with a flaw

By

from Iowa, United States

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

Purchased this product to replace my 10 year old Hoover. I liked the idea of the dual brushes, as the old 360 design on its own I never have felt was powerful enough. Let me tell you, the combination of the two styles of brushes certainly are. If you think you have done a good enough job vacuuming your carpet before using this carpet cleaner, go ahead and make another pass, as this machine will show you all of the dust and dirt between your carpet fibers. I gave this a lower rating because the gasket on the water return tank came off on my very first empty and is near impossible to get back on correctly to get the proper suction you need. Hoping customer service gets back to me soon. If the gasket had not failed on the first use I would have rated it at least a 4 if not a 5.
