I've had at least half a dozen of the Hoover spin brush rug cleaners for years and unfortunately the spin brushes always seem to stop working pretty early on in the life of the unit. So, I have been pleased to see Hoover come out with the other type of standard roller brush. I recently had to replace a Bissell unit of my Mother's for her townhome carpet and found the Power Path to be well-priced and a great performing little unit, surpassing it's larger predecessors whether it be Hoover or Bissell. Great unit and I appreciate the simplicity of it, it's smaller size and light weight. Finally a better rug cleaner. Great for people who have dogs. Would like to see an upgrade of this same unit with a small upholstery attachments. But for what it is and the price, this one is GREAT!

I never post poor reviews and I automatically distrust reviews that are completely negative, but I really can't think of one good thing to say about this machine. Let me state that I read the instructions, then went back and re-read them, and then re-read them a few more times to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. I double and triple checked to make sure everything was assembled properly, and everything was. Here's what I found: 1. The machine does not suck up the dirty water. I tried this on plush carpeting, low-pile carpeting and Berber, and the results were the same: the carpet was soaking wet. After dispensing a full tank of cleaning solution, there was only about an inch of it sucked up into the dirty water tank. No matter how many times I went over the carpet, hardly any of the water got sucked up. 2. The brushes may be damaging. I thought the twin brushes would do a great job of cleaning, but after a few minutes of use, there was a lot of loose fiber in the brush housing. I'm not sure if the brushes were tearing up the carpet, but it seemed that way. The section of the low-pile rug I did definitely looks different than the rest of the rug. I didn't notice any change to the Berber or plush, though. 3. The machine spews filthy water all over your rug as soon as you turn it off. This was by far the worst fault of this machine. I can live with a wet rug; it'll dry. I can live with some wear and tear; it's going to happen anyway. This was too much. And there's nothing you can do about it, other than try to clean it up by hand, because the machine won't suck up the dirty water. If you have one of these already, my advice is to move it to a safe area--like tile or linoleum--before you turn it off. This was a complete waste of money and I ended up buying another brand (the same kind I had before) and am happy with that one. This is doubly disappointing because Hoover is like the Gold Standard in floor care and this machine is not worthy of the name. I did not get to try the upholstery tools, so cannot comment on them.

Replacement of Shampooer

By

from Lockport, IL, United States

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

We purchased the floor shampooer and used it twice before the machine became overheated and quit operating. Hoover recommended a local service repair shop. the machine was replaced at no cost. I was surprised and pleased with the quickness and professional help from both the service repair and Hoover in resolving the repairs

Worked once

By

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

Bought the Power Path Pro to replace an old Steam Vac Wide Path that worked well for 12+ years until some hoses cracked and it fell down some stairs. Thought that getting another Hoover was a good idea since the old one worked so well. The New Power Path Pro worked OK the first time on carpet and on the vinyl kitchen floor. The third time I used it it stopped working and smelled like burning electrical insulation. Took it to an authorized service center. They turned out to be unreliable, but a phone call to Hoover and their customer service was great and sent me a new Power Path Pro in just a couple of days. Just used it for the second time and it is not sucking up the dirty water near as well as it should. I tried to suction up the cleaned areas many times, but the carpet was still wet and barely any water was in the dirty tank. When I set the cleaner on the kitchen floor I did get a big puddle. I guess I will have to try buying another of the Steam Vacs or Power Scrubs or may have to try another brand because it seems like Hoover isn't as good as it used to be. It's too bad because I like having a carpet cleaner that I can also use on the vinyl floor.

So unhappy

By

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

Trust me, this is my fourth Hoover Carpet Cleaner, I bought this one because it promised to be even better than the previous...I bought it this May 2016 and just in this last month it lets water out, no solution...but worse, doesn't collect the dirty water back up. I thought it was me until I read all these reviews, and saw the 2 year warranty. Oh, I pulled out my last purchased Hoover to clean up the mess, it still works wonders, suction is really tight, and I SEE the dirty water filling its tank. Can you please help me? I am such a fan of Hoover products...and I don't want to thnk badly about them now.

Worked well for five minutes!

By

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

I unpacked and assembled my Hoover PowerPath Carpet Washer and read all of the instructions. Then I filled it up and began to clean my carpet. At first everything seemed good. Five minutes later, smoke started coming out of the back of the unit just behind the left wheel. I turned it off and took off the bottom plate to find that the belt had melted and was smoking.

Not Impressed by this machine

By

from Chicagoland

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

I purchased this machine in July after adopting a new dog, as I figured there might be a few instances of "accidents" in the house from time to time. I previously owned a Hoover carpet cleaner and was quite happy with it and after 11 years of service, the motor gave out. I was thrilled to see a machine that had both directions of cleaning and couldn't wait to use my new machine.........until, the FIRST time I used it, the gasket came out of the dirty water tank (as indicated by other numerous reviews) and it has been THE biggest pain to put back and keep in place to provide good suction to pick up water.....speaking of picking up water, it doesn't do nearly as good of a job as I would come to expect from a Hoover product. **And if you're reading this, Hoover Customer Service, I've read your trouble shooting for other reviewers, I've tried your suggestions and they don't work** This is flat out, just a poorly designed machine. The water tank is too small compared to my previous model and seems to fill up quickly. I'm barely able to finish one room before I have to empty it but today's incident was the last straw with this thing. I washed the carpet and when I went back over it to pick up the water, it barely picked up anything....my fresh water tank was empty and my dirty water tank had hardly any water in it.....where did it all go.....oh yeah, it's STILL in my carpet. I'm hoping Best Buy will take this thing back for an exchange on something else since it's been since July.....if not, I'm going to explore something else....perhaps Bissell.

Very poor suction leaves too much water in carpet......sometimes the clean water tank will not stop dispensing and have to remove tank too suck up what little water it can.

Comments about Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner:

Every single time I have used it, i have had an issue with it picking up water. I clean everything every use, and every time I'm using make sure there aren't any clogs, adjusted everything, and it just has been a hassle.
