In 2011, I moved into my current home and the previous owners had left their washer and dryer behind - which I was more than happy with... until I saw the state of the dryer. Opening the door the first time, I thought I was looking into a black hole. This thing was so old the coating had worn off the inside of the drum. I was hesitant to put my clothes in there at all... but I did, as a new dryer was fairly low on my list of priorities if I had one that technically worked, even if it wasn't aesthetically pleasing.Well, this past August when that dryer finally bit the dust I was glad to find this model - it is excellently and frequently reviewed across several websites and is a straightforward machine. I don't need something with a sweater dryer, steam dry, or something that promises to do my taxes. As a matter of fact, this machine has more features and settings than my 25+ year old machine that broke down - but just enough to be useful - like extended tumble and easily selectable temperature settings. The capacity is excellent, it has no problem efficiently drying blankets and towels, and manages even a large load of clothing with ease. Thanks for a well-designed appliance that gets the job done!

We bought this because it's the closest new model to our old Whirlpool dryer, which gave many years of excellent service. It had a setting like the The "energy preferred" setting leaves clothes damp, especially mixed loads. We called the Abt service department about this, and apparently it is a frequent question. Easily solved by increasing the so called "level of dryness" to "more dry," but one wonders why Whirlpool bothers with a useless setting. It isn't energy efficient, either. The clothes have to be dry. The longer you have to run the unit to do that, the more energy, both gas and electric, you use. This looks like a "feature" required by the ad wonks, rather than something from an engineer. It's not that the dryer doesn't work. It does, but the control labeling "energy preferred" is just there as a selling point, not as a functional setting. Ignore it and you'll be happy. However, once you learn its quirks, it works well. I'm saying I'd recommend it to a friend, but with the caveat above.

Love it! Works well even on large loads and bulky items. I use sensor drying most of the time and clothes come out dry no need for extra time.

Everything is working fine so far. I was disappointed the first time I used the dryer and set it on the Energy Preferred setting. When the buzzer rang, the clothes were not at all dry. Since then, I have set the dial for a drier setting and it is drying now.
It dries quickly
