This stove is great quality and fun to use. It lights very quickly and the power burner is really large and powerful. The simmer is really small and light. The grates look good, though like most grates, are designed to work with cookware with a rounded bottom (thus, the grates are not exactly straight, and small pots may rock). The only thing that could use improvement are the knobs. They look great and are shiny, but you can tell that they are not solid metal. The broiler is inside the top of the oven, so the storage drawer below is empty and can actually be used for storage. The LCD display is a blue display and looks nice too.

I thought I had made a great purchase when I went with this Whirlpool gas range (along with a new refrigerator, dishwasher & microwave). I'm beginning to regret going with the Whirlpool brand. This gas range hasn't been installed in our new house for even a week and when I went to use it this morning a piece of the grate was snapped off. Nothing has fallen on the grate, the grate itself hasn't been dropped or handled roughly & it's already broken. I thought, OK things happen the warranty will remedy the issue. Well nope, not only is it not considered a "functional" piece, but I just dealt with some of the rudest customer service I have ever encountered. I called directly on the phone first & then used their live chat system. As I was typing a response to "Jennifer" on the live chat, as I had more questions, she abruptly disconnected our chat without asking if I had any further questions. Both individuals I spoke with were unhelpful, and un apologetic. Whirlpool should work on the quality of the product as well as their customer service.

Comments about Whirlpool 5.8 Cu. Ft. Black Freestanding Gas Range:
After 25 years our electric Whirlpool range was still working but we wanted to update our kitchen and switch to gas at the same time. Great bargain price also.

The fifth burner is round and not oblong.
from Madbury, N.H.
I am now on my second stove in four months. The first unit must have been dropped as it was damaged. I ordered another one because I really liked the stove. I had a problem with the second stove, but had a repair person fix it. It was worth the hassle because the stove works great now.
Love the 5 burners. One thing I noticed is the time on the stove is blue and I am constantly glancing at the stove and thinking that one of the burners was left on when it is just the time lights. Would also have liked if it would have come with a griddle.

We love to cook and this range handles it all. Getting back to cooking with gas is the icing on the cake.
Love this gas range

We bought all of our Whirlpool appliances at once as we were moving into a home that needed a lot of work. The moment I saw this stove, I fell in love with it because it was large and had five burners but what I really love about the range is the convection feature. It cooks food evenly, in less time and at a lower temperature. Take the time to read the guidebook on this range, you won't be disappointed in all the features. I only wish it came with the griddle considering the cost.
Great design and features.

Everything works better than I could hope for.

I brought this stove a month ago and I like it. I wish the control panel is easier to read. It is dark under our new Whirlpool microwave, even with the light is on. I think the direction from the light under the microwave should be in front and not in the back.
Wife loves to cook on this
Oven Temperature - Serious issue with the oven temperature
from Cincinnati, Ohio
The burners are fine. It is the oven. The oven temperature is not right. When the oven lets you know that the oven is at the temperature selected it is really about 100 to 125 degrees less. It takes 30 minutes or longer to get to the correct temperature even though the stove has signaled the temperature has been reached. I called Whirlpool and had service done a couple times. Whirlpool has told me that it taking 30 minutes or longer to warm up is how the oven is designed. However there is nothing in the manual that states it takes 30 minutes or longer to get to the desired temp. So you have to get an oven thermometer other wise you won't know what temperature you are baking on. I would not recommend this oven to anyone. Very disappointed.
