I was really on the fence about replacing our old school, top loading, agitator style washer with a front loader. I was not convinced they cleaned as well, especially with the low water usage of the HE models. Plus I had heard stories about the awful odors that seemed to be common with front loading machines. We knew our old washer was dying a slow death so I started researching well in advance. After going back and forth, reading all the reviews and talking to an extremely patient salesman at one of the big box stores who answered ALL of my questions I decided on this GE washer. Selling points for me were the outstanding overall reviews, the built in pedestal and the features it offered. One feature I was not willing to compromise on was the steam feature - that was a must have, especially for the dryer. I will admit I was reluctant about having to re-learn how to do laundry, but honestly it was no big deal. I read the book, followed the directions and absolutely love this washer! Yes, the cycles do take a longer, but not too bad. The washer senses the load, and based on the setting you have chosen determines the wash time. It spins out most of the water so even though your wash cycle may take longer, the dry time is faster so you're still coming out ahead. I have yet to encounter any of the 2 hour cycles some people mentioned in their reviews. My loads average an hour to and hour and 15 min. One feature I really love on this washer that I didn't expect to use is the delay wash. I can set it to delay up to 8 hours. If I'm going to be out doing errands I can set the delay so that the load is done when I get home and the clothes aren't sitting in the washer for hours. I have also set it up to wash early in the morning so that when I get up the load is ready to go in the dryer. I have been very careful about not leaving clothes in the washer after the cycle is done, and I always keep the door slightly ajar when not in use (as recommended) to avoid the dreaded front loader odor. So far no problems. It's quieter than our old washer, sings me a little song when it's done and washes the clothes beautifully. I would gladly recommend this washer to anyone. The matching dryer is great, too.

We've made it one year and our washer has been not so good. It's leaked and the water pump went out right before my warranty was about to expire. I make sure I only use GE washer product's and clean it once a month like specified to do so it shouldn't of kaput on me. Luckly I was able to fix the issue since the service man sent out sucked at his job and said my washer was fine when it wasn't. Thank god he didn't work for GE but was referred to us by GE none the less. This is my only complaint about the washer.

The only problem we have had is the washer shakes real hard at the beginning of the wash cycle. Our previous washer did the same thing only worse. It was a different brand. Looks to me like someone would have solved this problem with the front loading machines by now!
Does a great job

We replaced a 10+ year old front loader with this unit. It is so much more effective at cleaning. I run everything from normal clothes through really dirty auto shop towels and everything comes out clean. The old front loader was marginal on the shop towels.
Clothes are clean!

I can't believe how much cleaner my clothes feel after washing them! I replaced a front load Maytag that obviously wasn't doing the job anymore. Some people have warned me about this model having issues with mold/ mildew. I leave the door open when I'm done so no issues so far.
Just about perfect

I've only had this for a week and went from another front loader that I had for 8 years and dreaded that I would have to teach my 82 year old mother that lives with us how to use this (fancy) new washer. It's so user friendly that she had it down pat in 10 minutes! It took me 4 months to teach her an iPhone :) This washer has the perfect amount of setting options and the built in pedestal for the right height is great since I didn't need drawers for storage.

I purchased washer and dryer at Thanksgiving time as my washer went out. I own only GE appliances in my home.

It's ok. Wish it had a just rinse cycle. Also washing takes a very long time. Don't understand why.

1 complaint about this washer and it might be the user.. I can't get it to be unbalanced. No matter how many times I adjust the legs. Awsome machine other wise! Lots of nice features
Very nice washer!

I bought this 6 months ago and I've been very pleased with the results. I've been able to wash large comforters with no problems and I was amazed at how poorly my previous machine was "washing" . Lots of selections for cycles (most of which I haven't used) but I'm really happy with the purchase. The only minor issue I have with this washer is that the gasket retains some water and dirt (mostly dog hair, I have 4) and needs to be wiped out after every load and the door left open.
