KitchenAid has vastly improved its product line, and this slide-in gas range is close to perfect in terms of price, features, and aesthetics. I was torn between the KSGG700 and competing models from Samsung and Bosch, but went with KitchenAid because I have a strong feeling that parts and service will be much easier and cheaper to come by in the future. Also, by placing the glass touchscreen controls horizontally in front of the burners, the range retains a very clean and commercial look to it, which the others don't. It's really gorgeous in person, and the materials are of excellent quality. I would've liked to have been able to buy the KSGG900 version with its additional features and stainless steel surface under the burners, but I wasn't interested in paying a premium for those features. I should note that I purchased the range from a small retailer in my city rather than a big box store, and I felt good about supporting a local company. Their price was actually less than the big box stores, too!

Pros: The stove looks greatCons: It does not work well as a stove or cooktopI used to have an across the board favorable impression of Kitchenaid after living with their dishwashers for decades. Sadly, this stove broke that notion. The stove simply was designed for looks only and has poor performance both on the cooktop as well as the oven. In the oven I've tried to cook chicken, duck, vegetable gratin, lasagna and many other dishes and all of them came out poorly as a result of the oven not being able to maintain heat evenly inside.I have 2 thermometers inside. I bought them because it was taking me 3+ hours to roast a chicken at 425 and the skin was still not crisp... One is sitting in the top back lefthand one hanging in the front lower right...I discovered that the temp differential between the two at both 350 and 400 is 50-75 degrees ( the upper back being hotter). If you look at the photo I attached you will see a sheet pan of cauliflower and one corner is scorched while the rest are just cooked. This is a great example of how uneven the heat is.The cooktop is problematic as well. The front two burners are the only ones capable of making any heat but they have very poor adjustment. Going from High to Medium results in a drop in flame height of about 1/32 of an inch and no drop in heat output. Going from Medium to Low is where 99% of the flame adjustment is. Just be careful not to move the dial to low too quickly or there is a good chance the flame with extinguish. I have had the service technician from the appliance store here twice already and they make small adjustments but the real problem is the design of this unit. I cannot recommend this stove to anyone except NYC apartment dwellers who use their oven to store clothing.

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Black Stainless Steel Slide-In Gas Range:
Where do I start?! 5 burners is so great, one of them is power and the others are varying sizes. The option for a convection oven is heavenly for those who really love to bake and cook. And there's the steam tray option for making bread, not to mention the proofing option in the oven... Gripe only about the grates on top - wish there were 4 smaller ones instead of two large ones - hard to handle and a pain to remove when you have to clean. Otherwise it's pretty much the range of my dreams....
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This was the range we wanted and it performs exactly as advertised. It converts recipes so cooking with convection is easy! Food is much more moist. Could not be more pleased.

I moved into a new upscale condo 3 weeks ago and the kitchen aid appliances were newly installed in our space. I have already called twice for service on my stove/oven - gas smell and oven not to temperature. I love to cook and entertain, and this does not live up to the Miele appliances that I am used to. The dishwasher does not dry, the refrigerator has frozen most of my groceries and the stove/oven is certainly been a problem. I might mention that the microwave door is already misaligned. I am so disappointed.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Joy in the kitchen

I have recently semi-retired and have found more time to spend in my kitchen. I'm the first to say I'm a novice, but I am enjoying exploring with my KitchenAid and finding out what it's capable of doing and the ease in which it performs any task. I'm looking at adding other attachements as I grow my collection of recipes.

Professional looking stove that gives my kitchen a commercial feel combined with the kitchenaid dishwasher and 3 door kitchenaid refrigerator.

This is one of the worst ranges I have had the misfortune to buy. It is pretty to look at but isn't what the advertising proclaims. I have been cooking for 50 years and have had many ranges. Gas and Electric. I can all my own fruits and vegetables, make my own pickles, relish and saurkraut. Every year I make 100s of pumpkin rolls, pies and cookies for friends and family and so I use my appliances often. I am not a professional cook, but I am an experienced cook. Our new house, purchased in May 2016 had no appliances so I thought I was getting the kitchen of my dreams. Nightmares is more like it. All kitchenaid, all workable, except the gas range. Hard to clean, delicate and NOT self cleaning. Aqualift is warm water on the bottom of the oven that doesn't even loosen the grime. Had to hand scrub for 4 hours with all the micro sponges and safe cleaning products so as not to damage the surface. I am so disappointed I would return it in a heartbeat. NEVER again will I buy this or recommend it to anyone, even my enemies. And while Kitchenaid is willing to send out a service problem to "fix" the problem. The oven is working as the owners manual says it will work. Shame I didn't get the manual before I got to be the owner. Spell me D-I-S-A-P-P-O-I-N-T-E-D.

Stove top stains easily/disppointed
By Lisa SH

The range/oven is great BUT the top is extremely difficult to clean. It has several spots on it that I cannot clean off. I clean it after every use and use a special stove top cleaner. I am disappointed that it has stains on it, especially because I am extremely careful and it is practically brand new.

Love it... Everyting I bake is wonderful with the convection oven.

Easy to keep clean. Cooked our Thanksgiving turkey as our first convection project and it came out great. Burners could go a bit lower, but all in all, we are enjoying our new stove.
