KitchenAid has vastly improved its product line, and this slide-in gas range is close to perfect in terms of price, features, and aesthetics. I was torn between the KSGG700 and competing models from Samsung and Bosch, but went with KitchenAid because I have a strong feeling that parts and service will be much easier and cheaper to come by in the future. Also, by placing the glass touchscreen controls horizontally in front of the burners, the range retains a very clean and commercial look to it, which the others don't. It's really gorgeous in person, and the materials are of excellent quality. I would've liked to have been able to buy the KSGG900 version with its additional features and stainless steel surface under the burners, but I wasn't interested in paying a premium for those features. I should note that I purchased the range from a small retailer in my city rather than a big box store, and I felt good about supporting a local company. Their price was actually less than the big box stores, too!

Pros: The stove looks greatCons: It does not work well as a stove or cooktopI used to have an across the board favorable impression of Kitchenaid after living with their dishwashers for decades. Sadly, this stove broke that notion. The stove simply was designed for looks only and has poor performance both on the cooktop as well as the oven. In the oven I've tried to cook chicken, duck, vegetable gratin, lasagna and many other dishes and all of them came out poorly as a result of the oven not being able to maintain heat evenly inside.I have 2 thermometers inside. I bought them because it was taking me 3+ hours to roast a chicken at 425 and the skin was still not crisp... One is sitting in the top back lefthand one hanging in the front lower right...I discovered that the temp differential between the two at both 350 and 400 is 50-75 degrees ( the upper back being hotter). If you look at the photo I attached you will see a sheet pan of cauliflower and one corner is scorched while the rest are just cooked. This is a great example of how uneven the heat is.The cooktop is problematic as well. The front two burners are the only ones capable of making any heat but they have very poor adjustment. Going from High to Medium results in a drop in flame height of about 1/32 of an inch and no drop in heat output. Going from Medium to Low is where 99% of the flame adjustment is. Just be careful not to move the dial to low too quickly or there is a good chance the flame with extinguish. I have had the service technician from the appliance store here twice already and they make small adjustments but the real problem is the design of this unit. I cannot recommend this stove to anyone except NYC apartment dwellers who use their oven to store clothing.

Waited a long time for a stove like this

Love the feature this stove offers and no back so all burners are usable

The five burner range offers tons of power, and being able to use three racks in the oven is amazing. We came from using a cheaper over at our old place, so I've burned myself a couple times because of the power this one offers. As someone who loves to cook, I don't mind. Having a harder working over / stove is worth it. The only downfall is the fifth burner in the middle is pretty useless if you have large pots or pans on two of the other four burners. Nothing really fits on it. Also, the digital display shut down once, and we needed to reboot the unit to get it working again. So I'm a little nervous that will happen again. Otherwise, we're very happy with it.

Bought this approximately three weeks ago and couldn't be happier. It works great and looks good doing it! Especially like having the four burners plus warming burner on the stove.
This was the appliance that sold me on KitchenAid!
from Old Bridge, Nj
This appliance was the reason I bought a 4 piece KitchenAid appliance package for my remodeled kitchen. This gas range was exactly what I was looking for. It has five cooktop burners that are nicely spaced and give a variety of cooking options from simmering to a rolling boil. The cooktop has two interlocking grates that are very easy to keep clean and I stay on top of cleaning the cooktop everyday and it is also easy to keep clean and maintain. The control panel is very easy to use and the interior is roomy and spacious. It has a steam option to cook vegetables and meats which works nicely. One of the racks is a roll out rack and it makes it so easy to access pans. I have not yet tried the cleaning option but it appears to be so much easier than my previous model which took forever, heated up the kitchen for hours, and never got the interior super clean. The meals I have cooked in there so far and come out very well and the oven temperature is spot on for doneness. This also has a convection oven that I am still experimenting with but I do feel once I get the hang of the appropriate temperature and time, it will be a great feature to work with as well!
Love this oven
The oven is great: responsive, heats quickly, and heat is evenly distributed. Everything cooks evenly. The stove top is less satisfactory. The power burner is not great except that it has a simmer feature. None of the other burners have that. Center tiny burner is just a waste of space. Also stovetop is not easy to clean. I have cooked on a Viking and a Wolf and owned a DCS for many years. Perhaps it is unfair to compare the KitchenAid. But then I have also cooked on electric induction burners and found them more effective. Very disappointing.

The Kitchenaid oven is attractive and extremely functional. Set up was easy and the instructions very intuitive
Do not use oven without child proofing first!
from Seattle, wa
This ranfe is functional and is very aesthetically pleasing, but not safe if you have little ones. I had cooked a batch of muffins at 350 and the oven had been off for 10 minutes when my 10 month old crawled over and opened the storage drawer, which has nothing in it for child safety, and as I put my foot on the handle to make sure he didn't pinch his fingers, he screamed. The inside of the drawer was still hot enough to cause a burn that caused blisters. I feel horrible that this happened, but under no circumstances did I think that the inside of the storage drawer would become dangerously hot. If I could return it, I would!
