We purchased this dehumidifier to replace an old unit that was really showing it's age. The difference between this Frigidaire and others that we have owned is amazing. To start with, the appearance of this unit is sharp, sleek and contemporary and fits so well in almost any setting. You can't help but notice the uncompromising quality in the construction of every part of this right away, and you feel like you have purchased something that will last a very long time. It just feels so solid and substancial. The controls are well placed and are very easy to learn and to use, which is always a plus. The very occasional maintenance that is needed is very simple and quick and takes no time at all to do. The container that holds the water collected is very easy to remove, carry, empty and replace. It is a very efficiently running unit. which really helps on keeping your electric bills down. If you have ever owned a dehumifier, you know that one of the biggest things you have to consider when buying one is exactly how much noise it produces when running. We are very happy with how quiet this particular one is, even after reading all of the complimentary reviews by others. We find that running it with the fan on the low, the quietest setting, moves more than enough air around even in a big room, and believe this would be all most situations would require. And it's not just exactly how loud it is that matters, but also the type of sound that an appliance makes that is important, and this one makes what seems like a smoother sound that doesn't sound harsh at all to us. It is very easy to live with, and that is a big deal! Lets face it, writing a review as long as this does take some time and thought to do, but we were happy to do it, because there are some products out there that just deserve to have good things written about them, and this Frigidaire is definitely one of them. We couldn't be more pleased with this unit and believe it to be the very best dehumidifier out there. Not one of the best, but absolutely the best by a good margin. We don't think you can go wrong with this one!

I accidentally bought this unit to replace a 70-pint/day model that I had for about 5 years. I say accidentally, because I chose this 30-pint/day model by looking at the size of the bucket on the dehumidifier that I was replacing and making the mistake of thinking that the capacity of the bucket was similar to the per day capacity of the dehumidifier. Instead, the capacity of the bucket appears to be around half the per day capacity of the unit. The unit works well enough, but the bucket is so small that the unit is inconvenient for the basement (20' x 30') for which I bought it. I have to empty the bucket more than once per day, and if I go away for more than one night, I'm sure that the unit gets full within the first twelve hours, and then the humidity is back out of control for the remainder of my trip. The unit would likely be fine if I had it connected to a hose, so that it could drain without any human intervention, but that also isn't practical for me. Also, it seems (again, this could be a lack of education on my part) like the humidity meter and the mechanism to set desired humidity are not as accurate as the 70-pint/day model. After buying this unit and realizing that it is too small, I bought a 70ppd unit and put them both together in the basement about 15' apart. The humidity readings on the two units can vary by as much as 15%, with the reading on the 30ppd model always being higher, and judging by how the basement feels, I think the 70ppd unit is closer to the true value. But strangely, I requently find when I come down to empty the buckets that the 70ppd unit is full, but the 30ppd unit won't appear to have turned on at all. All in all, the unit would probably be fine for a smaller room with a less severe humidity problem, but for my money, I'll always go with the larger model from now on.

Comments about Frigidaire 50 Pint Capacity White Dehumidifier:
I bought my dehumidifier because of a leaky roof. There also always seemed to be condensation on the windows in the morning. The moisture made breathing difficult. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of water taken from air in my rooms. My machine filled every four hours. It was easy to empty and transport from room to room.

It does the job.

We purchased this unit for out unfinished basement. When it's running it does the job. I like being able to adjust the humidity level to automatically work to maintain the desired humidity. The filter is easy to remove but the tank is not so easy to pour.
Works very well for my apartment

I moved to NC during the summer and was not prepared for the high humidity. I bought this dehumidifier for my apartment and it significantly improved the comfort of my new home. I set it to 50% humidity and let it run on low. The water collector usually needs to be emptied once every 36-48hrs when the humidity is high outside, and about once every 3 days now that the season has changed. Highly recommend. The noise level is about the same as any fan so it never bothers me.

My AC is not removing the humidity property and I bought this and have noticed a total improvement in my apartment. I place it in different areas day and night and it is amazing on how well it works.

It really takes me moisture from the room. I wish it was easier to empty. It is very hard to get the heavy unit out when Full and tends to spill water on the floor.
great features, easy to install

DOES THE JOB NICELY
Took a little while to get the angle correct for the drain hose to work properly and customer support very good indeed sending a part to make things better if own attempts did not work.

Very happy with this dehumidifier, pretty sleek and good looking.
Dry, Cool, everything a basement should be!
from Poconos PA
Our house is on a hill, and the basement is mostly under ground....making it damp and musty if a dehumidifier isn't running. I don't have a built in unit, but can run this continuously with a hose that runs out the back of the foundation -- and it does the job! The room is always cool, dry and this unit is fairly quiet and consistently performing. I've own the house for 10 years and this is the best unit I've found yet. I highly recommend it! Can't speak for those who have to "empty the bucket" because that's not something that would work for me (it would be full before I came home from work), but for continuous use, its a great unit.
