Our situation called for an electric downdraft range, and the KitchenAid range came through beautifully. It's beautiful, and we also love the functionality. It's loaded with features we've never had before. I might have to try some new dishes. The downdraft is amazing. It truly vents the smoke and odor and down and out. The amount of air it moves it amazing. Installation was easy and straight forward. Great product.Only negative I can mention is that there is a chemical smell when the oven is heating up. Maybe it's the "newness" breaking in; not sure yet.

I purchased this range shortly after it was introduced to the market in order to replace a Jen Air stove that had a faulty display (common). Less than four months after installation, this Kitchen Aid range also failed -- low fan speed (seems to be common on Whirlpool products? Error code F8E0 -- Google and beware!). For the price of this range, I expected better. So off to customer service to address the problem and to see how they stand by their product. Covered under warranty? Yes. Time before someone can come to repair THEIR faulty product? two and a half weeks. How does that sound for a "professional" line of products? First it fails, and then a less than stellar warranty service (We'll fix it eventually, and hopefully your warranty will expire before we have to do it again!). When you spend this kind of money on a range, you expect the company to do what they can to remedy a problem -- not with this product, and not with Kitchen Aid. My first and definitely last Kitchen Aid product. If you DO decide to purchase this range, be sure to get an extended warranty. It's the only thing that saved people from Jen Air's quality issues, and apparently the only thing that can help you with Kitchen Aid.If it does fail, then I'd recommend not believing the customer service department when they tell you 2-3 days for a repair. You'll get an informal e-mail later making it clear that you'll have at least half a month without having a functioning oven. This is my first and last Kitchen Aid product. For the expense -- I expected a better product and better support.

Very Nice Range
I really like this range. We replaced an old GE downdraft that was installed in 1992. My dad and son installed the range for me. You do need to have some skills to install it. The downdraft hole had to be moved a little bit. I am waiting to order a trim kit to go around mine since it was not an exact fit. I am not use to convection cooking. The preheat time is much longer. The burners heat up quickly which I love, but I am not a fan of the glass cook top. They take are harder to keep clean.
Love the extra slide on the oven rack
I bought this because it had downdraft ventilation - which I love. But I also love the the oven rack that slides out an extra distance and it stove top is super easy to keep clean.

The range arrived just a few days before Christmas, just in time for a lot of baking. The oven is fabulous, very even heat throughout and no danger of burning delicate crusts on pies and pastries. Love the convection, especially temperature conversion. The burners are also excellent with a wide range of cooking temperatures and very quick heating.

Just what I wanted

I needed a downdraft to replace my old one and I'm happy with the way it's quieter and removes the smoke and orders.

My new stovetop and oven cooks food in a third of the time as my old unit. Also the food cooks more evenly and looks like dishes on the cooking shows.
We replaced old downdraft range and we had to do all kind of modification. When we purchased range we were told by salesperson that people making delivery will install range in place but they just left the range in the kitchen and left.
