Our situation called for an electric downdraft range, and the KitchenAid range came through beautifully. It's beautiful, and we also love the functionality. It's loaded with features we've never had before. I might have to try some new dishes. The downdraft is amazing. It truly vents the smoke and odor and down and out. The amount of air it moves it amazing. Installation was easy and straight forward. Great product.Only negative I can mention is that there is a chemical smell when the oven is heating up. Maybe it's the "newness" breaking in; not sure yet.

I purchased this range shortly after it was introduced to the market in order to replace a Jen Air stove that had a faulty display (common). Less than four months after installation, this Kitchen Aid range also failed -- low fan speed (seems to be common on Whirlpool products? Error code F8E0 -- Google and beware!). For the price of this range, I expected better. So off to customer service to address the problem and to see how they stand by their product. Covered under warranty? Yes. Time before someone can come to repair THEIR faulty product? two and a half weeks. How does that sound for a "professional" line of products? First it fails, and then a less than stellar warranty service (We'll fix it eventually, and hopefully your warranty will expire before we have to do it again!). When you spend this kind of money on a range, you expect the company to do what they can to remedy a problem -- not with this product, and not with Kitchen Aid. My first and definitely last Kitchen Aid product. If you DO decide to purchase this range, be sure to get an extended warranty. It's the only thing that saved people from Jen Air's quality issues, and apparently the only thing that can help you with Kitchen Aid.If it does fail, then I'd recommend not believing the customer service department when they tell you 2-3 days for a repair. You'll get an informal e-mail later making it clear that you'll have at least half a month without having a functioning oven. This is my first and last Kitchen Aid product. For the expense -- I expected a better product and better support.

My problem with this range is that the vents in back, for the heat that comes from the oven, get too hot to touch. My range is in an island that we sit around occasionally. If someone accidentally rubs against the vent, they can get burned. The Jenn-Air I had to replace (in the same location) did not present this hazard. Also, the vent in the floor for this range is in a different place than the previous one, making it necessary for a new hole to be made. I've been told Jenn-Air made the Kitchen Aid. If so, why the hazardous change making the vents hot, and why change the location of the floor vent?
I love it!

We bought this downdraft to replace our old Jenn-Air downdraft. I love it . It cooks and bakes very fast. It's easy to clean. It took a long time to install. The directions need to be more clear. It looks great in our kitchen. It was expensive but so was our other downdraft and that one lasted a long time.
Very clean lines and looks great in my island

While I have only had my stove installed for a week, my experiences so far have been great. The oven bakes beautifully, maintains an even temperature and is a vast improvement over my previous 28 year old Jenn Air. Down draft seems adequate so far. Still working at getting to know the various levels of heat from the elements however, the rear left burner boils water quickly. Great!

Not overly impressed

With the touch screen control panel , when you lean over to stir pots on the back burners or if you're cleaning your body will reset the oven and clock every time. This range scratches VERY easily. I can't sit any pans out of the oven on the stove top as it will scratch. I have had to have a heating element replaced. This stove which is very pricey came with one of the eyes not functioning. I do love how the oven cooks so even and quickly.

We replaced an 18 year old Jenn aire that was very tired and expensive to fix. I would suggest you find installers that know what they are doing because we had to also get counters cut to fit this range. Heats to perfection, and have not noticed the outside being hot at all. Stove top is also great and heats very fast!!! So happy we got this range!!!
Nice Downdraft Stove

I would recommend this product with a caution statement. If you live in a rural area you will probably not be able to find anyone to install the Downdraft unit. Even Kitchenaid did not have a serviceman for our area. That said, and after visits to five hardware stores, we were able to install it ourselves.

We had to wait for two months for the range to come in as it had to be manufactured, and was late shipping. Build quality is very good. Looks great Controls are difficult to become accustomed to. Not happy with how it maintains surface temperature, but we may get use to it. The oven takes 30 to 45 minutes to preheat to 350 or 400 degrees. Unacceptable! Will be calling selling dealer for a warranty service call. The auto conversions built into the convection "easy bake" feature is great! Not to happy about having to buy new pots and pans because of the glass top does not accommodate cast iron, or copper bottom cookware that we already had! We did not know we would have to spend over $3000.00 for the range plus another $500.00 in pots and pans! Rediulous! There is still a "burn off" smell associated with the use of the oven. Not too happy about that since we have used the oven many times. Like I said, we will be calling th dealer to see if there are issues associated with this range.
