Bought about two weeks ago and I'm already in love! I was kind of skeptical when it was first installed due to the washer and dryer appearing a lot smaller than my old washer and dryer, I wasn't sure if it was going to handle laundry for a family of three that includes a 3 year old I figured I'd have to split each load up more but I'm pleasantly surprised to know it holds the same amount as my last one! The design is very sleek and saves a ton of space , I love that it shows the exact status during the wash and also gives the option for presoak, 2nd rinse, or both and also a deep rinse for when using fabric softener, the features are wonderful and the set is easily functional. Our last set was extremely loud especially the dryer, but this one is super quiet I can only hear when I'm in the laundry room. I'm so happy we

I have had the unit for about three weeks. I notice a lot of loud clanking between cycles, but that is explained in the manual. If you want to change anything once a cycle has started, you have to push "start" again. You can't skip to any point in a cycle as if you had a dial or knob to turn. Once you push start, you are committed. The water fill usually does not cover all my clothes, so I have to push them down, or wait for additional filling to make sure all the clothes are covered with water. The agitator is different than other washers I have had. Lots of time between movement, not a constant agitation. The spin cycle is also different. It takes 5 or 6 attempts to spin before the spin actually starts It must be rebalancing something, but nothing is explained in the manual. That said, the clothes are nearly dry when the spin is complete. The worst feature is the lint collection system in the door of this unit. When you open the door to the dryer, lint starts flying around. More lint flies out when removing the lint trap. Lint collects on the door and frame of the dryer and has to be removed between each cycle. I now use a hand held vacuum when open the dryer door to catch the loose lint. The wash basket size is a selling point 2.0 cu. ft. The discontinued model was 2.2 cu. ft. and I wonder why that was changed?

Comments about GE 24" Unitized Spacemaker Stack Washer With Gas Dryer:
I just had this unitized washer/dryer installed two days ago. When I started a small load in delicate cycle, it sounded like there was something stuck inside the washer drum. Shipping rod was removed so that was not the problem. I am very unhappy with this purchase and waiting for retail store to help me get technician to check it out.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Compact, smooth running, simple controls

This machine has added space in our laundry area by virtue of its small size. It runs smoothy and efficiently. The best feature is the lack of electronics behind the control panel. This machine is much less likely to be damaged by power surges than its more expensive counterparts and that appeals to my need to purchase only "robust" products.

This unit's washer frequently does not supply sufficient water to cover the clothes - especially in smaller loads.
Overall a good machine, with a few flaws
I bought this to replace the slightly larger model that had lasted for about 13 years. This is a smaller model and overall works fine, but it seems like a cheaper, dinkier version of the bigger one. Pros: It's quiet and has several features as far as type of fabric and dry time. It cleans well. It's pretty quick to run a load. The best feature: It's small enough to fit in the tiny closet in my condo for a stackable unit. The old one protruded into the doorway so I couldn't close the door. Cons: You can't adjust the water level. It has a feature where it auto-senses what level the water should be, and I find this to be very frustrating. I few times I've noticed that it starts the wash process and some of the clothes are still sticking out of the water, but by the end, the agitator has brought them down into the water. Still, I would like to be able to control the water level. The lint trap is on the inside of the door, and it's a terrible placement. It's impossible to open it without spilling lint everywhere. Very poor design. There is no buzzer to alert you when the drying cycle is done. It would have been nice to have a buzzer with the option of turning it off. Now I either set a timer or just try to remember to check the laundry after a while.

We use these in the apartment industry and they hold up well! Definitely will keep these.

I have had a lot of issues with just getting the unit. It took 3 units and a repair before I had a fully functioning unit. Now that I do I'm less than impressed. It will do but I feel like the washer just isn't up to par. It doesn't fill with enough water in my opinion.

I bought this for our rental unit and we've had no complaints. It's a little unwieldy, but it only needed to be moved once.

For many years I have lived in a moderate to small apartment and have just moved to a 684 sq. ft. cottage. I am 93 years old and always appreciate appliances that are easy to use and do an excellent job. This stacked washer/dryer works perfectly for me in my small laundry room. It has a spacious washing bowl, which allows me to do a full load easily. The washing machine gets my clothes really clean and I'm happy to have a top-load machine that is easier for me to use than bending over to load a front-load. I find the dryer to be "kind" to my clothes and both washer and dryer do a more than adequate job. I am so pleased with both machines and would recommend them to anyone and especially to those who want a good laundry process but have limited space for the machines.
I like the different cycles.
