Posting public reviews and questions is a great way to get specialized and real-worl solutions to problems as they arise, however a question posted in the review section of this site has no way of being answered! To the problem with the ration of movement on the track-pad, the adjustment is made through your control panel/mouse settings. Adjust the mouse SPEED to a much higher rate than the default of 50%. It will solve the problem and save the setting. (Providing we're talking about a PC installation.)

I got this keyboard today and I am so disappointed because the media keys are default and there is no way of changing this. Each time you want to press a function key you have to press the FN key. I am a heavy function key user and the keyboard for me is plainly unusable. Suddenly closing a window (Ctrl + F4) requires both hands and putting the computer to sleep each time I want to close an app (Alt+F4) puts the computer to sleep - no fun at all. I am returning this keyboard.

Comments about Microsoft Black All-In-One Media Wireless Keyboard:

If you prefer to use function keys (F-n) by default rather than media keys don't buy this keyboard. Battery life also could be better

MS needs to issue firmware update

By

Comments about Microsoft Black All-In-One Media Wireless Keyboard:

Average keyboard. Trackpad OK. It would be great at what it was designed for EXCEPT THE FUNCTION ISSUE. Let me tell you why this is a problem for you (the buyer) and what MS can do to fix (and why it's getting 1* reviews): The key labels (A, B, C, D, etc. etc.) are all white. So are the function keys labels. The media-specific commands share the function keys (F2 is also Play/Pause) and those commands are blue. This is a common small keyboard design and, generally, the different media command color denotes needing to press Fn (or some type of function key) to achieve that command. All on the same page, right? Good. Now, on this keyboard, the media commands are enabled by default and the F1, F2, etc. are the backup option requiring you to push Fn like Shift to activate the key. There is nothing to warn you of this. The first time you use this keyboard and push Alt-F4 to close a program your computer will go to sleep (because the F4 key is also the Sleep key, which is enabled by default). That was SUPER annoying because I didn't know why my computer kept sleeping until I did some Googl'ing. There is a fix... you can push Fn + Caps to turn of "function lock", or I guess in this case, turn it on... But this has to be done every time you turn on the keyboard. The reason for the 1* reviews? We, many of the people who bought this keyboard, want MS to release a firmware update where we can change the Function Lock toggle by default on the keyboard... and we want you, the prospective buyer, to be aware that they keyboard doesn't behave "normally".

can't use regular keyboard F* keys by default

By

Comments about Microsoft Black All-In-One Media Wireless Keyboard:

How the heck have they not fixed this. You can't use the F1, F2, F3 etc. keys as by default they are set to the alternative, media-related functions, and their is no way to change that default. It's an unbelievable but typical bit of terrible product support by Microsoft.

Cannot use function keys

Comments about Microsoft Black All-In-One Media Wireless Keyboard:

No Fn lock function makes keyboard pretty close to useless for just about everything. should be at the very least fixed in hardware, and F keys having their proper assigned functions by default should have been implemented from the get go. extremely disappointed with this product

Durable, great build quality, trackpad a real plus

Comments about Microsoft Black All-In-One Media Wireless Keyboard:

I've been using this for about six months now and I love it. I use it to operate a laptop that's connected to my 60" LCD TV across the room. The trackpad is terrific and makes navigating, scrolling through documents, webpages, etc. a breeze. The device is durable and keeps its connection to the laptop. Haven't had any issues with it. Built very well. Keys have a good spring and solid feel to them. Batteries still going strong (though I turn it off when not in use--it reconnects immediately).

Comments about Microsoft Black All-In-One Media Wireless Keyboard:

Keys have a nice travel to them, also with firmware update fn keys can work normally as f5=refresh. Compact and friendly form factor, no fingerprints left on keys or touchpad (mate finish). what i dont like about it: for a product inteded to be on your hands, in the living room or in your lap, it has some hard edges from the plastic lines. this manifest a lot if you are using it with your thumbs as intended, and on your palm the side of it... also plastics are not so great to touch. trackpad is average laptop affair. extra keys above the touchpad are really welcome. Special fn keys work great with Windows 10 would love to change the volume keys to pgup/dn, or something like that. also better plastics would be welcome.
