I've had my stove for about a month and I have used the range and the top oven. Thankfully, I haven't had any of the problems that some of the other reviewers had immediately. The lights all work, the temperature seems to be accurate and consistent and I haven't had any uneven baking yet. I do agree with one reviewer who said if you drag your pots across the grates they will scratch and look terrible. I've been conscious of that since seeing it in a review and agree completely - PICK UP YOUR COOKWARE off the grates. I find the touch pad a little stiff and hard to use right now, but expect that will decrease with use. My oven did not come with the manual, which is annoying. After paying $2k for a stove, they least they can do is print the 60 page user booklet. So go online to the GE site and download it for reference. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to use the temperature setting and the timer. I accidentally set the temperature to preheat over an hour because I didn't know what I was doing. When 15minutes later the oven still wasn't to temp, I realized I did something wrong. I'm that person who reads and keeps manuals. So one other thing that I didn't see anywhere in the reviews or the product write ups is that you should have a considerable amount of clearance on both sides of the stove. I have a small apartment kitchen and the powerful 18k BTU burners are so strong that the heat from the flame heats up the wall immediately next to it and I'm concerned it ultimately may damage the paint and possibly cause a fire at some point. Other than this, the stove and over appear to work well. I've made some tasty dishes including personal pizzas in the top oven tonight. So far, I'm satisfied and loving what I now affectionately refer to as the beast, and myself as the beast master! Bon Apetit and happy cooking!

A Cautionary Tale (or how our GE oven ruined Christmas dinner)… Before you purchase the brand new GE appliance consider this… Twas the day before Christmas, and something was loud, the sound of an error message serenaded the crowd. The message was clear, “F73, was the code. It was flashing and beeping on the new oven/stove. A quick search on Google, lead us right to the source, the console was broken, we have buyer’s remorse. “How could this be? asked my wife, “The oven’s only 3 months old? “I agree my dear wife, console’s dead, GE’s closed, the roast beef will be cold. We purchased the dual oven to make Christmas dinner the best. No more pies, cooked with roast beef, it was really a pest. But paying extra for the dual oven has been quite a mess. The quality’s not there in the GE appliances I guess. So, what will we do, will this Christmas be a bust? Not a chance! We will improvise and GRILL roast beef I trust. But there’s no chance at all of us recommending this oven. It’s bad, very bad and exceedingly rotten. My advice, run away, don’t spend one more cent, On a dual oven, or a steam oven, or anything that vents. Don’t make the mistake of a Christmas dinner gone afoul. Just keep your head high and don’t throw in the towel. Christmas can’t be ruined by appliances, you know. It is stronger than troubles, the joy of Christmas, melt’s hearts like snow. So Merry Christmas to all. I hope you’ve learned from our plight. Our minds may be troubled, but Christmas will still be bright.

Comments about GE Profile 30" Slate Double Oven Gas Range:
I cook a lot. I appreciate how easy it has been to learn all of the settings on the stove. The ovens bake evenly, stop top burners adjust well from simmer to full boil. My last stove which I had for only 2.5 years was such a disappointment, it made cooking hard and left soot on the bottoms of my pans. This stove does not do that. I just love it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought this oven in December. My old oven died a week before Christmas. It bakes and cooks great.
Not what I expected

Not thrilled with the temperature regulation of lower over - it always seems cold. Had a a tech/rep come out within the first month to verify the performance / temperature, and I still have to extend baking times by 5 to 10 minutes longer than the longest recommended baking time (and to be clear, I am an experienced baker). Also, the convection bake setting supposedly creates even heating within the oven so that one could have multiple pans in at the same time (the user guide even tells you where to position the racks to accomplish this). However, 2 cookie sheets in at the same time do not bake off evenly (some are brown while others are under-done). The rep that evaluated my range said that's because a 2nd baking sheet "blocks" the heat flow. This idea is the exact opposite of what the convection fan should facilitate! Maybe the feature works better on a full sized range? This range came with a griddle for use with the middle burners - nice feature, but not very easy to use. The pan does not heat evenly (even though it's cast iron), I think because the outside burners are so much smaller than the center. Also, the flame control knob has a very small range of movement that seems to change the griddle temp from 200 to 1000 degrees with the tiniest adjustment! It's best for simmering a small pan of sauce while the other burners are occupied.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I use this oven every day and love it. It is so much better than the electric oven I replaced it with. The gas burners do a wonderful job.

The double oven makes this great adding the cast iron grill makes it the best!

I've had this for about 4 months now and it's the greatest I can run 2 canners at once on the 2 front large burners. My extra large tub fits perfectly on the center 2 burners for water bath canning. Holiday meals are a breeze and I no longer have to use my second oven in the basement for them since I have the double oven. The lower oven is larger than my old single oven. Both heat up to above 500 degrees for pizzas. I got the center grate and the grill and the grill is great for a number of different things. My only complaint is where it vents. It vents right below the board where oven buttons and clock is so my microwave vent fan comes on all the time from the heat. I think if I had known it would vent there I would have chosen the slide in model but if you do just regular misc cooking and baking you won't have any issues. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone whether you cook or bake a lot or a little it's great!
