We were looking for a washing machine that would wash king size bedding, use a reasonable amount of water, wash quickly if needed, manage to wash delicates without shredding and still remain reasonably priced. We have had this washing machine for 4 months now, we run 2-3 loads a day and have not had a single problem. They don't make them like they used to (in the old days) with tons of water and three wash settings. Now, with water regulations, and a better understanding of laundry, this washing machine strikes a nice balance of meeting regulations while still deep cleaning the clothes. While researching I read many comments (about other washers) that claimed that the only way to get clothes clean was to have lots and lots of water. Ongoing research, and this washing machine, are proving otherwise. Think about washing dishes in a sink - if you need to wash a dozen plates, you can wash them with a little water and a little soap. More water simply dilutes the soap. Lots of water and lots of soap will get clothes clean but a little soap and a little water (with a clean water rinse) will also get the clothes clean. When the clothes go in, it locks the lid and spins the clothes (without water) a few times to weigh the clothes to determine the size of the load. You can choose from three water settings - 1. the amount of water the machine feels it needs, 2. tap the fill button once and it dumps in another gallon or so or 3. hold the fill button and it will put in as much water as possible (it does not fill to the top but does put in quite a bit of water). Importantly you can add the forgotten item of clothing even after the cycle has started (when in the agitating cycle) - the lid does not lock during agitation (it does lock while spinning). When you add an item, the agitator stops, and you can add the item. When you close the lid, the machine adds a little water and starts up again. It has a variety of settings (delicates, normal, heavy duty) and also allows for a variety of washing cycles. It has different settings for regular clothes, one for jeans, one for towels, one for delicates, etc. This seems to change how aggressively or gently it agitates the clothing. It does not agitate the clothes as roughly as the old machines - it agitates back and forth a few times, lets the clothes rest for a few seconds to let the soap do what it does, then it agitates again, rests, agitates, rest, agitates, etc. It runs a warm rinse that gets all of the soap out and then spins the heck out of the clothes to wring every drop out of the clothing. Drying time is drastically reduced. Fast washing gets clothes washed in about 25 minutes. It does have settings that allows for soaking, second rinses, etc. It has a dial that (apparently) changes the cleaning approach based on whether the stain in tomato, grass or dirt. It has a quiet tune when it starts up and a quiet tune when it finishes. I would strongly recommend this washing machine. A large, stainless steel drum can easily takes the mattress pad, fitted sheet and top sheet from a king size bed. It does not move during the spin cycle (just make sure that clothes are fairly evenly distributed). It may twist the sheets up a bit but if I were in a drum spinning at 800 rpm I might be a little twisted too.....

I tried out this machine for 1 month, today it is being picked up and returned. Sensor washing, low water and slow agitation may be the new breakthrough, but nothing beats being able to adjust the water level you want to use, or how long you want to wash your items. I tried small loads where the sensor sensed no clothes inside and shut down twice on me. I tried 2 down jackets, bulky but light, even with the deep water button pushed, it wouldn't cover the jackets, not just a low water treatment, half way up, hardly wetting the complete jackets. Forget about ever giving a very soiled item a vigorous washing or soaking, not going to happen. To sum it up, try to stick with a machine without sensors, one with control on water levels, timers, soaking, and agitation control. You don't need to hear music when buttons are pushed.

Great washer, actually cleans clothes!

Great Washer! This machine actually cleans the clothes and has enough water to clean them! Before this washer, we had A Maytag MVWX700XW2 HE Low Water Level Top Loader without the agitator. We suffered with that washer for 4 years. That washer was a piece of junk, and was the worst washer we ever had!! Believe me when I say this, the clothes would actually come out dirtier after the wash, with stains and streaks. I had to wash the clothes sometimes two or three times, and open the lid to add more water and move the clothes around. I would have been better off beating them with a rock down by the river. NO JOKE That's why I decided to take a chance on this new GE machine. Wow, my clothes are clean for the first time in a such a long time. The come out very clean, relatively quiet, very well priced. This is a very easy to use washer and nothing complicated, just move a couple simple dials and it actually cleans! You may think this is “Old Technology, but not at all. This works just fine for me. I just want a washer that cleans clothes, and don’t need fancy computer readout, Wi-Fi, talks back to you , a million cycles and complicated programming . . . . “Just clean the clothes, that’s it! This washer actually fills your tub with water to wash and rinse the clothes, pretty novel idea, right! I am VERY happy with this machine. HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!

Although its a noisy machine, it cleans exceptionally well and spin cycle does an excellent job of drying clothes. However, I have only had the machine one week !!

Washes good, but it is loud and doesn't spin dry as well as my front loader did.
Amazing to have with a toddler in the house
Got this a couple of months ago and I have used it daily for baby clothes and toys. It has some noise but it's well worth it. My dad is a truck driver and usually anything from his truck has to be run twice to get all the axle grease out of them and the smell of diesel but I have done several loads of laundry for him with this washer and they come clean in the first run every time. the prestain treatment has saved multiple pieces of clothing from both the toddler and my fathers abilities to find new stain makers. I love that there's enough room to put actual bedding in and it has a bulky setting that lets me wash my mothers comforters and everyones pillows. My family has started coming over to use it since it's so big that it can do things like big comforters without any trouble and there's no leftover soap anywhere on them. it has also cut down my dryers run time with how well it wrings the water out at the end of the cycle. I can't say enough about this washer and I love how the lid locks down when it's running and doesn't unlock until it fully stops so I don't have to worry about someone opening it during a cycle and I always know where it is at during a cycle, guess work is gone.
The Science of Clean

I bought this washer in January after my old one (20 years) needed replacing. I was so used to the noise the old machine made, I had to keep going upstairs to see if the machine was still washing. My wash never smelled/felt so clean.
Works very well

We've had this about a month, with no problems. Much quieter than our old washer, and easy to understand setting. Of course, it also gets the clothes clean!
Everything I need without the bells and whistles.
