I recently purchased this dishwasher to replace a older GE unit that came with our house 12 years ago. After the a couple of weeks of use, I have to say have been very pleasantly surprised! It is whisper quiet, as compared to it's predecessor. In addition, the tall tub construction means I can hold a much larger number of dishes as well. I've read the negative reviews regarding the unit and I have to say that I have not experienced any of those issues. Most dishwashers won't dry with absolutely no water left in the tub. The dishes have been spot free and clean in every cycle I've completed (quick wash and normal cycles). For those that may have hard water issues, a Jet Dry product should help with the spots. The only issue could be the length of the cycles. However, given the energy efficiency and the fact that it holds close to 50% more dishes than my previous unit, I would say this is a fare trade off. The design is sleek/modern and goes well with the GE appliances currently in my kitchen, especially the 3 door profile refrigerator we upgraded to a couple years back. I really lie the steam feature that was not available back when the unit it replaced was made. The installation I did myself and it was pretty straight forward. If you are replacing an older unit, like I did, I would recommend replacing the supply line and 90 degree elbow -- the power cord can be recycled. Although I haven't had it nearly as long as the model it replaced, this dishwasher is off to a very good start. For the money, it delivers on all of the important things I was in the market for. The build quality and performance have been solid, thus far. I am looking forward to years of quality performance!

I've had this washer a few months now and am generally happy with its cleaning, low noise level, and storage ability but it has a few big drawbacks that would keep me from recommending it to anyone. 1. First and foremost, despite a drying time of over an hour, the tops of glasses and mugs are still soaking wet. The temp is hot enough but the steam doesn't seem to have enough venting to dissipate. For this reason, I skip the dry time and have to wipe them off by hand. It's annoying but I am saving energy by doing so. Nevertheless, I not only have wet glasses, along with spills on the countertop, but the washer stays very wet inside and can start to smell musty if I don't let it dry out completely. I have resorted to drying it out with a sponge and towel when I don't have time to leave the door wide open to air dry. This is my largest gripe. 2. I use soap pods yet there is often residue in the dispenser cup. This is despite the fact that I deliberately avoid putting any utensils directly in front of it. I think this design is a flawed. 3. I don't like that merely closing the door turns the display on. Give me a power button to press when I actually want to start washing. 4. Lastly, the wine glass attachments are pretty flimsy and do not click into place solidly when folding upward. I simply remove them when I'm not using them.

Comments about GE 24" Slate Built-In Dishwasher:
Just received this dishwasher as a replacement for one that we had for several years. I installed it in about an hour with minimal issues (I had to get a GHT 90 elbow that I did not know I needed). I started the washer and everything worked great very quiet. Instructions were very clear.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about GE 24" Black Built-In Dishwasher with Front Controls:
Don't bother with the extra cost for a stainless steel tub.
Service and delivery comments:
I picked it up at ABT and installed it myself because we had a party that night. Installation was not complicated, but took more time than I expected because of my ignorance.

I purchased my first GE dishwasher over 28 years ago and it completed more than 10,800 successful wash cycles! Eight weeks ago, I replaced it with this model GDF610PGJWW which is the updated model. We are 100% pleased. I hope this computer controlled, LED indicator equipped model proves itself to be even better than the mechanically based original which lasted with minimal parts / repairs that I maintained myself. That model was my baby. This new version is amazingly quiet. I like the LED controls on the front. It has a modern and Hi-tech look and it does what it is designed to do. It has all the functionality one could need including adjustable upper rack with two bottle jets, sanitizing, steam, heated drying and more. This new model has to prove itself over time, and I hope it will. So far it has excelled. I hope the software, which controls its functionality does not become problematic. Notes: The less automatic dishwashing soap you use, the better. Never put sponges that contain suds producing soap into it without squeezing them out! Be careful not to block the rotating wash arms. Load it right. The first unit was in 100% working condition when I sent it to be recycled and the motor was still as good as new. That is why I chose General Electric again. Thank you.

Really pleased with this purchase. It's so much quieter than what we had before. Cleans really well and I especially like the bottle jets.

Purchased and installed this unit myself. Pretty straightforward installation. I was very impressed with the quiet operation of this unit. The only thing I don't like about it is every time you open the door, the electronic panel comes on automatically and beeps.
