Needed to replace the 6,000 BTU window a/c unit we'd had for over 5 years. We purchased the Frigidaire because it met our needs, and was an almost an exact match to the old one, including installation. It was priced in line with what we anticipated. So far it's met or exceeded performance expectations. I like the "clean air" feature that provides ionization for additional dust and pollen removal. The air flow is easy to direct with almost infinitely variable directional control. The air volume moved meets or exceeds expectations, noise level is less than expected.

I researched what I thought was carefully before choosing this model because it had all the features in which I was interested. The owner's manual is available for download and I studied it carefully. Not carefully enough! If you read the manual and I recommend you do so, observe that most of the features have "(some models)" next to them. What that really means is that THIS MODEL DOES NOT HAVE THAT FEATURE! Here is a paragraph straight from the manual. Read it carefully and then I will tell you what it really means. Note: The unit will run in energy saver(econ) mode when used for the first time. In this mode, the fan will continue to run for 1 minute after the compressor shuts off. The fan then cycles on for 20 seconds at 10 minute intervals until the room temperature is above the set temperature, at which time the compressor turns back on. One of the features this model does not have is the thermostat in the remote. The only thermostat is in the A/C unit (apparently directly in the air flow path). If the room temperature is 80degrees and you set the A/C thermostat to 68degrees (which you can do with the remote if you are within 3 feet and the remote is pointed directly at the A/C front panel), when you turn on the A/C the compressor and fan will start. In about 30 seconds the air temperature coming out of the A/C will be less than 68degrees so the compressor will shut off and the fan will continue to run for 1 minute. Then the A/C will sit quietly for 10 minutes until it turns on the fan to test the air temperature. It may or may not be high enough (inside the A/C where the thermostat is) for the compressor to start. If not, the fan will shut off and wait another 10 minutes before testing again. When the inside of the A/C gets above 68degrees then the next time it samples the air temperature the compressor will start and run for 30 seconds or so until the air temperature it is blowing is below 68degrees then the compressor will stop and the fan will blow for another minute. So here I sit in a room where the temperature is 80degrees with my new A/C set to 68degrees. Every 10 minutes the compressor will run for 30 seconds and the fan will run for another minute. In 10 minutes the fan will run for another minute. The A/C cooling for 30 seconds every 10 or 20 minutes and the fan blowing for 1 1/2 minutes ever 10 minutes doesn't seem to be having much effect on the room temperature. It's still 80degrees in here. I would give it 0 stars, except the review system insists I must give it at least 1. But don't think that 1 star rating means it has any value at all. Well, I guess if your window was broken out, you could use this to plug the hole.

I got this for our small bedroom because the old one stopped working. It seemed to run a little loud but either got better or we got used to it. Only stupid thing is it always turns on to energy saver mode.
Great value for the price

Bought this AC earlier this summer and have had no issues. Great value - works well and our energy bills are low. Definitely recommended!
Cools well, the timer function could be improved
from Fort Washington, MD, United States
The unit cools well as expected. It comes with extra insulating panels which you don't have to use though they are supposed to help keep more of the outside air out of the room. The one improvement that doesn't affect performance is the timer feature - it works well and is useful, but could be easier. In the summer it's hot every day so having the timer function set to come on automatically at a given time, or even just having the timer set to the last length of time when you push it would make it more useful instead of having to increase the time from the default every day.
Light weight easy to use Very reliable
I purchased this to cool a couple rooms and remove the humidity in my place. It does both significantly. I cannot feel any humidity compared to last year. Great product! Energy Saver works great too!

I bought at beginning of summer and very happy with the unit.
I heard it was a God send
from Cleveland ohio
I actually purchased this product for a family that was destitude in Cleveland ohio. I learned that the daughter, the only means of support for the family was very ill & would be in the hospital for months. The summer in Cleveland was so hot & I heard they had no airconditionng what so ever. I hope the unit I purchased from you gives them hope & some respite from the heat that I witnessed when I went with someone to install it in the stifling, tiny 3rd floor apartment. (a 100 year old building)
Service and delivery comments:

Great value for the money!
from Great Neck, NY, United States
I bought two of these units early this summer. Generally, they use little electricity and cool down the space very fast. However, my space is within the range of spaces required by the BTU specification. If you are very sensitive to noise, the units might be somewhat noisy for you, but you will get used to the noise quickly. Overall, given the price, I am satisfied with the product.
