I hate heat, I always have. I've hated it since I was a little girl. I can't handle being overheated and so when the heat got too much I went searching the Internet for an air conditioner that would truly work for me. I read a bunch of reviews and was pretty pleased with how people talked about this one so I decided to give it a go and I am not disappointed what so ever. Needless to say me and my 9 month old were VERY pleased once it was installed, because we were NOT handling the heat well. Our bedroom is on the second floor of our apartment and there's commercial property below us so we are on the third floor and it gets very muggy and hot up here. The quality is great, it's an easy interface to use. The remote control has a temperature reader and you have the option for economy which will turn the AC off once it reaches a certain temperature. You of course also have the AC option and fan only. I would highly recommend this air conditioner for someone trying to cool down a large bedroom or something similar. I tried to add pictures to show how beautiful the design of this AC is but it won't let me, so just take my word for it. (:

I am very disappointed with this unit. First, the remote control did not work, and I needed to have a replacement sent. The remote is extremely confusing and difficult to use. The unit itself just stops working, with no apparent reason. It also is not very effective in cooling the area. The instructions are confusing and do not address many issues, such as the use of the remote. Overall I am very displeased with this unit, and would recommend that purchasers avoid it at all costs.

More Than I Expected!
from Bridgeview Illinois
Actually I bought two units the same day. One was the 833 S1 8000 BTU and also the 1233 S1 A so I hope you received both of my registrations? I was looking for the highest energy star rating and also the energy saver mode that both units have. These two were purchased to replace an antiquated 5000 BTU window unit and a 10,000 BTU sleeve unit. I kept going over the dimensions and your mini compact 8000 BTU is actually even narrower than the 5000 BTU it replaced! The 12,000 BTU compact is about 60% of the size of the 10,000 BTU that it replaced. One of the biggest features for me anyway was how little these units way in at 60 and 70 pounds respectively! That's a really big deal for an average size senior like myself. Overall I just could not be more pleased and my home has never been this cool. I use the energy saver mode along with the remote sensing control and also the sleep mode at night to conserve additional energy. I suppose like most people I put off replacing my old units thinking that I was saving money but actually I was spending more and I was nowhere near as comfortable as I am with these two units. It's no secret that here in Illinois this has been a very hot summer with 20 some days at 90degrees or above and about 100 days at 80degrees or above so these two have really been a lifesaver! I could go on and on but I guess the thing I'm the most impressed with is the value and it just feels good when you get more than what you expected or paid for. Many Thanks, George Payne

A great purchase. It was easy to install and runs like a dream. Highly recommend.
Great for my room!
I bought this for my room and it works great. I haven't had any problems with it and it definitely cools down the room. Love the remote sensing feature since I have a slightly bigger room!
easy to use features
worked great on those 95 degree hot and humid days

I bought this item back in June replacing my Sharp air conditioner and I have to say I am not impressed.

Cools great, doesn't drain well
from Sumas, WA
I bought this A/C unit because I live in an old house and it gets unbearably hot upstairs on warm days. I stuck in in my bedroom window but had to do a bit of adjustment to the side extender panels to make it fit in the window frame. It cools the room very well and acts as a good white-noise to help me sleep at night though my friend who is a light sleeper says it is too loud for her. I only have two issues with this unit: 1) It does not have the ability to cycle fresh outside air into the room (i believe the next model up DOES have that capability but would not fit in my window) and 2) I believe their is mold or mildew inside the unit due to condensation not draining properly. When I installed it into my window I didn't have much space to work with to secure it but I believe there should be enough of a tilt for the water to be draining, unfortunately it has developed a sour smell when running the AC (using just the Fan is fine) and I haven't yet pulled the ladder out to climb up to the outside of the second story window to see what's going on. Just be aware that this unit may need more of a tilt than some others with more drainage holes.

Plenty of Cooling Power for Size
from Los Angeles, CA, United States
This was a replacement for one that wasn't powerful enough for the room. It could be a little quieter, even on low fan speed. I would like it to start in cool versus economy mode. Hard to read small labels in the dark center display.

We purchased this unit several months ago for our shop. Love that it has both heating and cooling in one unit.
