How the Active Smart™ system works

As in all Frost Free refrigerators air is cooled by passing over a series of tubes containing refrigerant. This is called an evaporator and it not only cools the air but it removes moisture so your fridge remains Frost Free.

What's unique about the Active Smart™ system is that both the fresh food and freezer compartments have the cold air from the evaporator supplied independently using separate fans.

The fan operation is controlled by an intelligent microprocessor. This gathers information continuously from various temperature and door opening sensors.

With the ability to learn from this information the microprocessor fine tunes compressor operation and more importantly controls fan speed. Cold air is then delivered when and where it is needed and at the right volume, leading to precise temperature control and faster cooling and freezing rates.

Multiple outlet ports have been designed in conjunction with variable speed fans to create a consistent temperature regardless of the shelf position.

Active Smart™ provides more controlled and stable temperatures, slowing down the process of food deterioration.
