Sanus AFA Accurate Series Audio Stand

The SANUS Accurate Series AFA is a four-shelf AV stand for basic systems. Its black-lacquered shelves are durable and stylish, and its contemporary, open architecture allows maximum airflow. Heavy-gauge tubular steel pillars provide incredible strength and rigidity to support large AV systems. Features include wire management paths, adjustable feet and 19.5-inch deep shelves.

Features

  • Form
The beautiful open architecture of Sanus Accurate Furniture is achieved by blending the exquisite smooth chrome finish of the tubular pillars with the luxurious black finish of the shelves. The corners of the shelves curve gently around each pillar creating an Audio Rack that complements any audio equipment. The AFA unit has four 23" x 19" shelves and can be easily expanded with additional AFS shelf units to grow with your system. Shelf spacing is a uniform 9".
  • Function
Accurate Furniture's modular open architecture allows maximum air flow for today's heat-generating audio equipment and its quality construction ensures a high level of strength and stability. The shelves have a wood composite core with a durable melamine finish in satin black. Tubular pillars are made of steel with a quality powder-coated finish in smooth chrome. Premium allen-head fasteners and welded-in nuts are used throughout to ensure tight connections for maximum rigidity. A wire management system is provided to keep all cables neat and safely out of the way. Carpet glides are inserted into the feet.
  • Technology
True audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts know that A/V furniture and loudspeaker supports must not only be beautiful, in reality they must enhance the performance of the A/V system. No company has paid more attention to the all-important technological details than Sanus Systems. Following are views of the various Sanus technologies that are utilized in many of our Foundations speaker supports and A/V furniture lines.
  • Resonance Damping Mechanism (RDM)
This innovative, patent-pending technology was developed by Sanus to provide superior acoustic isolation by minimizing or eliminating vibration typically caused by deep bass and mid-bass frequencies.
Sanus RDM technology is one reason why famous high-end speaker makers and publications around the world recommend Sanus products. Leading audio/video magazines have tested and reviewed the CF line and Stereophile® magazine has selected Sanus Component Furniture as a "Recommended Component" in each of the past seven years. This RDM technology is used in the Sanus Component Furniture line to isolate the component shelves. Here's how:
    • Hidden pockets are located in the corners of each shelf. Inside each pocket is a special nylon piston and a Poron disc. Extensive Sanus testing shows that the space-age Poron material exhibited superior acoustic damping characteristics, especially in the mid-bass frequencies.
    • Shelf studs are proven to be effective in damping deep bass frequencies. The studs are adjustable and rest against the Poron disks in each shelf to complete the RDM system.
  • Carpet Glides
Most Sanus A/V furniture styles have slick (literally) carpet glides to allow the furniture to be moved smoothly, minimizing the disturbance of sensitive components.
  • Tubular Design
Many Sanus speaker supports and A/V furniture styles features a strong tubular steel design that can be filled with shot to increase total mass that's concentrated at the bottom of the unit for dramatically increased stability. Shot is readily available locally at most any sporting goods store that sells reloading supplies.
  • Concealed Wire Management System
It used to be that open architecture A/V furniture styling looked unsightly with all the components hooked up leaving a rat's nest of cables in plain view. Sanus engineered the solution. Many Sanus furniture styles feature an exclusive Concealed Wire Management System that organizes and hides all the cables and wires. Not only is this clever system aesthetically appealing, it makes your A/V environment safer.
  • Anechoic Chamber
An anechoic chamber has been used to test the acoustic properties of many Sanus products. An anechoic chamber is a custom-designed room lined with special acoustical materials that virtually absorb all sound waves and is outfitted with sophisticated testing instruments. Through this type of testing, Sanus has gained valuable knowledge that is reflected in the engineering and design of our products.
  • Triangular Isolation Pads
Another way Sanus isolates the speaker from its support is by placing special triangular damping pads in each corner of the speaker support top plate. The pad material provides both isolation and a non-slip surface for the speaker.
  • Adjustable Floor Spikes
Most Sanus Foundation loudspeaker supports and selected A/V furniture are designed with premium-grade adjustable steel floor spikes for use on carpeted surfaces. The spikes easily adjust to the carpet depth and provide the added stability needed for typical soft-padded floors. The spikes may be easily removed and replaced with the provided rubber feet, if being used on hardwood or tiled floors.
  • Speaker Isolation Studs
Sanus incorporates adjustable speaker isolation studs into the top plates on many of its speaker supports. When the speaker sits upon the tips of these brass studs, surface contact between the speaker and support is dramatically minimized and acoustic isolation is maximized.
  • Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)
Sanus' testing shows that premium-grade Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) minimizes resonance problems. Plus, its density makes MDF a very strong and stable material. That's why MDF is the proven material of choice for many high-end speaker makers and why Sanus also uses it in many of its products.
  • Open Architecture
Sanus A/V furniture designers embrace open architecture to ensure that there is always maximum air flow around and between components. Adequate ventilation means better performance and longer component life.
  • Top Plate Damping System (Resonance Isolation Rings)
Some Sanus Foundations speaker supports feature a Top Plate Damping System using special Resonance Isolation Rings between the speaker support pillar and top plate. Other Sanus styles also have Resonance Isolation Rings between the pillar and base plate. These rings are of a special material that dampens speaker vibrations effectively, yet have the density to allow the plate and pillar to be rigidly fastened together.
