I have had this unit for almost 4 month now. It works, the air deffinately feels cleaner, and the pre-filter has collected a dirt layer of about 1/5 of an inch. Strangely, the pre-filter idicator hasn't lightened up after almost 4 month, even though the pre-filter is rated for 3 month life.
The unit is in my bedroom which is about 14X16 square feet. I can sleep eith unit running at maximum speed, though it can not be considered quiet at that speed. The really trully quiet is the slowest speed. The medium speed is like a golden middle for me - not too loud, but is the minimum acceptable - I think - to maintain unit's effectiveness at cleaning the air. If at the maximum speed the unit supposedly changes air 4.8 times an hour in a 320 square feet room, then at slowest setting - judgin by the fan speed - it is probably 1 time in 3 hours, it feels very weak.
The unit appears to be quality made, but mine has developed a very light rattling - plastic assembly squeaking sound which is due to not very strong rigidity of the corpus. If I pres the corpus together the squeaking stops, but eventualy returns once corpus losens up again. This is very minor problem and not very loud, but I assume with ageing of the unit it can get more annoying.
Overally, I recomend this product. But check out also GE's air purifier, it is in about the same price range, with slightly higher CADR rating, and perhaps is more attractive looking and no squeaking(?) to make a more informative purchase

My son suffers from seasonal allergies, which have affected his quality of sleep. Nights are the worst for him as he coughs, snorts and sneezes through the night and wakes up almost as tired as when he went to bed. I bought the air cleaner to try to lessen his need for daily allergy medication, and to help him breathe easier so he could get a good night's sleep. It was simple to set up, and is easy to operate. I can hardly hear the unit run over the swirl of his ceiling fan. It has a single knob to turn the unit on and change speeds, and two indicator lights that light up when it's time to change the HEPA filter and the pre filter. So far so good, as my son turns it on when he goes to bed and off when he wakes up. He now takes allergy medication only on really bad days - maybe once a week instead of every day. He has been breathing better at night, with MUCH reduced sneezing, snorting and such and has been waking up more rested. So I'd say this unit is a winner. I was leary about the price tag, but with the results I've experienced over the past couple of weeks, it is worth every penny. Highly recommended for allergy sufferers.

i use the air purifier to get rid of all the dust in my room. it is quite effective. after a few days of putting it on the medium setting i can already see all of the dust it's collected on the pre-filter.

the filters are very easy to install, the whole machine is very user friendly. the air purifier is a convenient box shape and since the air comes out from the top you can place it against a wall.

at first the air purifier was not as quiet as i thought it was going to be (on the lowest setting), but then i got used to the sound. turns out the lowest setting is softer than the sound of my air conditioner! and now i'm so used to the sound i barely notice it. on the medium and highest setting the air purifier can still be loud.

overall i think i made a good decision in buying this air purifier for my room.

We placed the purifier in our son's room. He is 6-years-old and suffers from allergy induced asthma. The purifier is fairly large, but it works really well. We have had it for 3 weeks and have kept it running 24 hours a day. My husband and I have noticed a major improvement in the air quality when we walk into his room. The quiet hum is a perfect white noise. In addition, his nighttime coughing isn't as frequent. We only wish there was one of the same quality that was small enough to fit on his dresser. We have this one on the floor next to his bed. We are very happy with this product and would recommend it to those who are thinking of purchasing an air purifier.

After about a month of using this in my bedroom, I removed the front grill to check the filters. I must have found an inch of dusty crud glommed onto the carbon filter! I thought, "wow, glad I'm not breathing that in!". This thing really works!
