Find the Perfect TV at Abt

Television technology often seems to move faster than we can keep up. It feels as though HDTVs add new features like 4K Ultra HD or HDR every day. At Abt, we help you cut through the jargon so that shopping for televisions doesn't feel like taking a pop quiz. Check out our TV Buying Guide to make sense of all the acronyms or give us a call at 800-860-3577 for guidance from one of our TV experts.

TV Features & Styles

A few years ago, any old flat-screen TV would've been perfectly adequate. But with so many options to choose from these days, the paradox of choice can stop you dead in your tracks. So to help you make a decision, here's a crash course on today's HDTVs.

Smart TVs are simply televisions that have apps like Netflix and Amazon Video built-in. However, to use these apps you need a steady internet connection and a subscription to the streaming service.

4K TVs (also known as 4K UHD TVs or Ultra HD TVs) are all the rage these days because of the incredible level of detail they provide. They show four times the detail of the first wave of HDTVs from a few years back, similar to the difference between VHS tapes and DVDs. With prices as low as they are, stepping up to 4K is a no brainer.

High Dynamic Range or HDR refers to the number (range) of colors a screen can produce. There are a few different kinds of HDR (HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG...). While there are slight differences between these types, most TVs today support a variety of these flavors of HDR. And TVs that support HDR will all offer 4K resolution or better.

OLED TVs and QLED TVs use different technologies to improve the screen's color and contrast. Without getting into the weeds, OLED TVs offer enhanced contrast and are much better at producing deep blacks. If you're after vibrant colors, a QLED will serve you well. But don't stress too much about which one is "better," both deliver incredible picture quality in 4K HDR.

The Optimal TV Screen Size & Must-Have Accessories

The primary consideration when browsing the latest TV deals is size. For bedrooms or kitchens, televisions under 50 inches are a good choice. In other, more spacious rooms you may be able to fit an LG 55-inch TV or something larger like a Samsung 65-inch TV or Sony 65-inch TV. Check out our buying guide linked above for precise recommendations based on your viewing distance.

But it's not enough just to have the best TV. Add a soundbar, new speakers, or home theater system for the ultimate entertainment experience. Once you've found the perfect TV and accessories, order today! We'll have your new television out to you before you know it!
