This ice maker worked correctly on the first try and within 72 hours we had a overflowing ice cube bucket. Bye-bye ice cube trays. My only regret was that we did not purchase this sooner.

This is the second time I have replaced the ice maker in my 15 year old Whirlpool frig. The original ice maker lasted 12 years. I replaced that with some clone no-name ice maker that worked OK, but only lasted 3 years. This unit is actually made by Whirlpool. It looks exactly like the original so I assume it will last another 12 years. Installation took 5 minutes. I only needed the ice maker, so I did not replace the inlet valve and tubing.

The ice maker in my Whirlpool refrigerator has gone bad twice in the 12 years I've had the fridge. The first replacement ice maker was some clone-knockoff that wasn't made by Whirlpool. It lasted about 2 years. (The original ice maker lasted 10 years). I just received and install this unit. It is actually made by Whirlpool. I seems to be better made than the clone. I expect this unit will last longer that the clone.

The installation instructions were a little different for my fridge, but it was easy enough to figure out. If you're not very handy and you can't make sense of the instructions you might want a friend to help you out.

Bought this to replace my original that was decaying (debris from tray in ice), and no longer working properly. ABT had the best price and it wasn't a cheap knockoff. It was the original icemaker from Whirlpool.

This is great for a replacement but not for a new install. This kit only comes with Ice maker, water valve and ice tray. The assembly kit (which is mentioned in the manual) is not included which consists of short tube, long tube insert, clamps, gasket and screws.

Even though a differant model# than the existing one listed for a replacement, it looked the same. My only concern was if the wireing harness would match. Turns out the Icemaker end of the harness was the same (possibly standard), but the refrigerator end of the harness was differant. Just used my original harness, and fit/worked perfectly...and at more than 50% savings over the "recommended" model for my refrigerator.
Extreamly easy to install yourself, not rocket science...took about 10-15 minutes to install, and making ice within 12 hours.
Highly recommend (if you want to save $$)

This ice maker kit can be used to replace a wide range of ice makers generally from 1993 to present in top freezer and side-by-sides. A water valve is also included, and all water lines. If you have a failing Whirlpool style (Whirlpool, Kenmore, Sears, Gibson, Admiral etc) ice maker that makes crescent shaped cubes this ice maker will usually fit. You may have to use the existing electric plug assembly from the old ice maker. Easily changed.

Took a chance (primarily due to the price - new), and ordered to replace a worn out Kenmore ice maker that went south. My big concern was if the wiring harness would match. The harness end into the icemaker was the same as my model, but the plug end to the refrigerator was not. Solution - use my existing harness - installed in 5-10 minutes, worked perfectly and ice w/i 12 hrs. Plus, shipped with extra items did not need - replacement solenoid for on/off water fill, tubing, ice tray, etc (sell on [...]??). The same base unit to match my model on [...] (w/o extras) was about twice the cost, [...]

The price was the best price I found after all my online shopping. The best. Period. I was going to call an installer when the unit arrived, but just out of curiosity, I took a peek at the installation instructions.
Wow. They were so easy to understand. And even though I had never before ever attempted such a thing, they inspired me to do the installation myself... and it was incredibly easier than I could have ever imagined.
Better, this saved me the hundreds I might have paid an professional installer. I now have automatic ice, and I did it all myself. Sweet. Kinda makes "do-it-yourself" fun again.

I received the water inlet valve to replace the leaking one that was on the refrigerator. (This kit does NOT include the water inlet valve). Hooked everything up and the icemaker works like a charm. Produced 4-5 sets of perfect cubes (more half-moon shape) overnight.

The ice maker is great, very easy to install, halfway remove the top 2 screws, don't unscrew all the way. Remove the bottom screw, remove unit by pulling up and out. Put new one in, screw all screws in. Did not use the rest of kit.
The only thing is, they gave me this dinky bin, I already had a huge one that came with my fridge luckily. The bin is half the size of mine.

Your ice maker will come with all the components for a new installation if you are not replacing one in your fridge. If you are replacing a bad unit and the valve and water hoses are not bad, it literally takes 3 screws to change this thing out. It looks complicated but it took me the better part of 5 minutes to change this thing out. This ice maker also started making ice within 2 hours of installation because changing the valve was not necessary. The best part, this was literally the same mechanism that came stock with the fridge. Great deal considering the manufacturer wanted so much more for a replacement.

This was a replacement of the prior part that failed in a 2004 Whirlpool frig. Not happy about that, but was less happy when an appliance repair co. told my wife it would cost $340 to replace the icemaker. I knew that was a joke...the frig w/icemaker barely cost $500 in 2004. Very easy to install. It replaced the worn out unit in our twenty-year old Kenmore refrig. Pulled off the mounting bracket from the Kenmore and attached it to the Whirlpool, then attached the unit to the refrig. Less than ten minutes total install time. It took more time to open the box and look at all of the parts!
Way to go ABT! I'm a VERY satisfied customer, and will continue to do business with them.

My ice maker went out on my '94 Whirlpool fridge and I thought I would try this kit before calling the repair man. I'm glad I did. What a bargain and it was much easier to replace than I thought!
At first, I only replaced the unit in the freezer itself, but found that my problem was really with the motor that is at the other end of the water line. Both were very easy to replace once I figured out what I was supposed to do. I didn't even need to use the enclosed hose.
Try this before spending lots on the repair!

This ice maker appears to be for refrigerators without an indoor water/ice dispenser. It came with a single solenoid water inlet valve, while my refrigerator requires a two solenoid valve.
I had to swap the wiring harness, due to a slight difference in the connector, and the ice stripper with those from my old ice maker and remove the metal ice maker shutoff bar. However this was very easy to do.
The new ice maker works great!
Abt will be the first place I look for future applicable product needs.
Was delivered when promised.

It seems to work fine but the bar that determines when there is enough ice in the bucket is too short for our fridge. The fridge has an ice dispenser so I did not need to use the replacement bucket because then I would have lost this feature. Now the bar is too short to sense when their is enough ice. As far as I could tell, this was the replacement item for the fridge I have. I just have to watch it and shut it off before it overflows.

I bought product to replace a 15 year old icemaker of the same model. New product cover lacked external water fill timer adjusting knob. New product does have the fill timer adjusting potentiometer so I replaced new front cover with my old cover and adjusting knob. I did not use all of the parts that came with the new unit (solenoid, piping, fill tubes and extensions, etc) because I was replacing just the ice maker unit which was factory installed. New unit fit perfectly. New unit used exact same three mounting screws. New unit was a perfect fit for existing fill tube extension. New unit was a perfect fit for existing wiring harness connector. Product has been installed for two weeks and is performing well.

So easy to install. I was really bummed when my ice maker stopped working. I was dreading the call to a repairman becasue I new it would cost more than I wanted to spend for this 7 year old refridge.
It took me about 5 minutes to remove the old ice maker, and another 5 minutes to install the new one. So simple I could not believe it.

The directions were applicable to several different types of freezers, and they weren't exactly written for my model. It took me a little bit of finessing to install it. If you're relatively good with tools, it shouldn't be a problem. In the end, it makes great ice, and lots of it!
