I had an Amana for 25 years. It was still working, but not as well as it used to. I couldn't find anything else I liked, and kept reading negative comments on other countertop microwaves. Although Amana is made by whirlpool, I decided to order it based on the reviews of quiet and powerful. The reviews are right-on. For pre-cooked bacon it used to take me 1-2 minutes. I ended up burning the bacon on that setting with this microwave, so it is definitely more powerful. This is a very nice microwave and very quiet. It's nothing fancy-just a perfect microwave for my husband and I.

Only stainless is found on the front of the microwave, the rest of the microwave is black metal.
