Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
A little loud but all in all I love the product and wish that I would have purchased it a long time ago.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Used in basement for humidity control. Works well so far. Good size, for finished basement and laundry area to promote hand washed laundry drying. I like all the features and don't have any complaints at this point. Still trying out water bin before I hook up hose to sump. I have used on low fan speed at this point and works well.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
We have a 2000 sq/ft home and about 1500 sq/ft of this is open. In winter time we have a lot of water on the windows from the propane wall heater and stove. This dehumidifier does a great job and keeps it dry so we don't have water and ice on the inside of the windows anymore when it freezes. On average it takes about 5-6 gallons a day out of the air so far.
Every week I also clean the air filter with the vacuum cleaner and it's amazing how dirty it is every time. So I know it also does a great job filtering the air. We have this unit for a month now so I can't say anything yet about durability.
During the day we set the fan on low to reduce the sound and at night back to high. On low speed it does not bother us (family of 5) watching TV or having a conversation (12-15 ft away from unit).

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
During the winter the windows (sky lights especially) in part of the house have increased condensation--sometimes this freezes and has caused discoloration of the window frame. Fans were initially used to care for this, but it recurred almost daily. The GE dehumidifier was placed in service and the problems have become significantly less.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
My previous 40qt/day unit removed 20pts of water each day in my basement. AHR65LM/ 65 Dehumidification at max settings would only collect 7 to 10 pts per day.
Sent the first one back and tried a second unit, but it was no different. I sent both of them back.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
pro:Quiet. Seems to work well. I like the timer. I've only had it for a month, so I'll have to see how it holds up longevity wise.
con:The "actual" humidity on the display is way below the real humidity, so you have to set the desired humidity a lot lower to get it to run.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
When shopping for our last dehumidifier, we shopped based on reviews so we purchased a Soleus. It was quiet, the front panel was also part of the drain container which was fairly easy to empty. It lasted a year. Fortunately it was a week within warranty and the company did replace it but let us know that although they replaced it with a new unit, the warrantly was only the original year. The new unit went out just past the year mark with a bad compressor. With this in mind, we decided to try a different brand. Having had several dehumidifiers through the years, I have never had one fail within the first year let alone two. We then ordered the GE. Although we have not had it a year, it appears to be working well. It's noise is about the same as a room fan. I know I have viewed reviews where they say a unit is loud so I have nothing to base this on other than it is louder than the Soleus. One aspect I do like is the drain container has a handle in which to carry it to a drain. You can also put the % of humidity you want in the air. I don't know how accurate it is but since it can be adjusted, I would say put it at whatever is comfort level feels right.
Delivery was prompt. Item was packed well and easy to operate. I was also offered an additional warranty for an average of $10 a year. I normally do not purchase any warranty service but since the Soleus didn't hold up past the year mark, I thought this would be cheaper in the long run if the product was of similar quality.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Is use this machine to fight the summer humidity in Florida. I had a mildew problem that is now under control. This dehumidifier has lowered my humidity level from 80 percent to 50 or 60 percent. I save money on A/C too. The temperature now feels like 75 when it is 79 inside.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Abt shopping experience was very good. Item arrived promptly and price is reasonable, considering Abt has a physical retail location in Chicago. Will do business again.
My Whirlpool Dehumidifier has a short in the motherboard after 2 yr. The GE seems better in every way.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
It is too noisy for the living areas. It is slower in removing moisture than previous units.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This product works well, but it is much noisier than the last model (different manufacturer) I owned. I like the overall design and controls are easy to use. The water pan can be a bit awkward when full; the first few times I emptied it I spilled water everywhere. I have not owned it long enough to comment on its energy efficiency, but it is keeping my basement dry.
Delivery was prompt and right to my front door. Product was properly packaged so it arrived in perfect condition.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
good unit, digital display and reading is useful. works well, little nosier than expected and runs more often than older unit but seems more effective (Had Delongi 50 pt)
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I've only had this for a month so I can not comment on the longevity/durability but the unit does effectively drop the humidity in my basement. Very well in fact. Took under 24 hours to go from 80+% to under 50%. Only issue I have is I sent the humidifier to 55% and it does indeed cycle down to that reading, but the actually humidity is 44%. I am a weather geek so I have all kinds of sensors. No big deal and I just adjust the settings. Just something to watch. Price [...]- AWESOME!!!!
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Bought a house that had been vacant for over a year. Carpets were damp to the touch. System is removing over 2 gallons of water per day and carpets are now dry and the damp odor is gone.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
We use it in our basement library where we were developing a mildew problem. It fills every day and has brought the humidity down from 70% (or more, as it doesn't seem to indicate higher than that) to an average of 55%. We do have to turn it off when we're down there as it is quite noisy (though not offensively so).
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier dried up a very damp basement. The filter is easy to clean. Make sure you get a hose as the bucket fills up quickly.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I am very impressed with its efficiency. I thought about getting a higher capacity appliance, but this dehumidifier exceeded my expectations.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
We use this product in our 1500 sq. ft. damp basement. In just a few hours we noticed a significant difference in the humidity level. Our basement is now bone dry! The waterpan is a bit awkward but managable and it is a little noisy.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
My basement was stale and a little damp feeling as we are not down there a lot since our kids left home. It took the edge off the dampness and circulated air for a great feeling and smelling basement.

Excellent at keeping humdity low. Difficult to empty water pan wothout spilling some!
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Seems to work well - does not freeze up like the old one frequently did (it was a Maytag - also supposedly a low temp model with an ice sensor but that never worked well). I use a hose to drain to a sump so can't say how much water it draws out - but the humidity level is slowly getting back to normal...so far so good. The hose comes out a little trap door on the side - a little odd but it works fine. It's also not as loud as the Maytag was though if it were in a living area, I could see it being annoying (the fan moves a lot of air).
First one delivered with some slight damage. Abt sent another immediately and UPS picked up the original one - so they were great about the exchange.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
It's quieter than the same model I bought last year.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Works great,
I like that you can hook a hose up to it and then disconnect the hose and it drains in the catch bin instead of the floor like the last one I owned.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Bought this item after comparing product reviews, and it seems to be living up to it's good reputation. Operation is very quiet, and effective in pulling moisture from my basement.
Purchased to replace a very old, rock solid unit that finally died. Hope this one lasts as long.
Great service and prompt delivery, with the best price I found on the Internet.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
[...] Works great right now but have not had ample time to judge product. Does everything it says. Had one question and they got back to me the same day to resolve the problem.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This product replaced a dehumidifier that after four years of use ceased working. This new GE is quieter than my previous one and works beautifully.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Excellent except for water pan. Design of pan is terrible making it inconvenient and awkward to empty.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
The unit seems to have been effective in reducing a significant % of the moisture in my basement (from 80-something to 60). However, it has been running constantly since I turned it on a week ago. I have it set at 55%, but has not gone below 60%. One gripe is that at the store, the unit was very quiet, which is why I purchased it over another brand, but when I turned it on at home... oy, the noise... But I would rather live with the noise than deal with all the other issues that come with moisture in the basement. Also, I could not tell significant differences among the three settings.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Plugged it in and it was up and running.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I have a basement workshop with a number of valuable tools and costly hardwoods. The GE de-humidifier protects my investment in both. I have found it easier to use, empty, and clean than the Sears model.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
[...]I bought the unit to use in the unfinished basement of 1150 sq. feet.It began at 80% and within a few days had it down to 50%. It has been extremely humid and the unit has maintained 50% and has been cycling on and off. I am thrilled at my purchase [...]
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
The product sits on a table next to hall faceing livingroom with large opening into kitchen. Runs about 30+ minutes before cycling on and off.
On cleaning day it was great in SE MO 95 deg., pulling the hunidity from wet floors etc.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I have a hose hooked up so theoretically the pan should never fill up - but - it drains both to the hose and the pan. Kinda of a pain in that it is not a true 24/7 kind of dehumidifier. Good though, other than this issue it is good.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I've owned several dehumidifiers, and this is by far the quietest I've ever had. I have a large basement (1500 sq. ft. plus) and it took the humidity level from 80% down to 60% in the first three days that I used it.
Delivery was exactly as promised, and the dehumidifier arrived in perfect condition.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier works great -- it is quiet (although this was not an important feature for use in my basement) and very effective. The humidity control settings work very well, turning the machine on and off as needed. The unit is only a month old -- if it holds up for a couple of years, I would definitely consider buying the same unit in the future.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier made a big difference in our otherwise dry basement that became very humid due to all the rain we'd been having. My wife felt the change in a matter of hours.
Removing the water bucket is simple. Not quite as quiet as I'd hoped for but that's an easy problem to fix by turning up the TV volume.
I'm very happy with it.

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I spent a lot of time researching. This size does my 1500ft2 basement effortlessly. I decided on the GE brand because of prior good experience including warranty claims. This dehumidifier has worked flawlessly. I attached a hose to the threaded connection and the other end in the AC pump.
I turn it on about 4-6 hours a day and it keeps my basement around 55%
I got it because I had mold issues, not any more. I don't hear it from the next floor up and my bedroom is directly above it.
All in all an excellent choice.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This is a great dehumidifier! In fact, it's so effective that I have to empty it almost daily! The only problem is that the water pan is a little difficult to empty and a bit awkward. But the dehumidifier does such a great job that I don't mind the awkward water pan.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
It's keeping my 1000 square foot basement "bone dry".
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I put this in the back of the basement, and the water tank is no longer sweating and dripping (and molding!). Features are great, you can see the current humidity, it has three fan speeds, it will automatically come back on if it was on when the power went out, the bucket is fairly large and I have had no trouble emptying it (no place to put a hose yet). It is not especially loud, nor is it especially quiet. I would not like this in a room I had to stay in, but it is great in the basement. It throws some heat, I actually installed an AC in the basement to help cool/dehumidify in the summer. In the winter, the heat will not be a problem, of course.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Humidity is high, here Houston, TX. But this product just sucks the water out of the air!!!
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I thought it would be big enough to handle the basement but it seems to shut off on occation for about 30 seconds and then starts up again. I have it set at 55% humidity and it does maintain that level. I have it hooked to a hose so I am not using the collection tank.My last one was an Emerson and it was iceing under the same conditions. That is no longer occuring.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This unit is great.. Plug it in and push a button and it's collecting water like crazy! Doing just what I need it to.. hopefully I can still say this one year from now!
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
even with the hose attached, the storage area fills up
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Product works great.
Delivery was fast. Arrived in excellent condition. Would highly recommend Abt!
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier does a terrific job in our finished basement that still gets humid during the summer. It pulls far more water out of the air very quickly than any other one we have had in the past. Not really quiet but we just turn it off for awhile if we are down there watching TV. It's heavy but has a built in handle, so weight is really no issue. Good purchase.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
It is great. Now my basement is not wet.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Use it in the basement during the summer, I've been emptying it twice a day, it's taking out that much dampness. Basement is nice and dry, cool and it smells good.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Used in basement to keep air dry and free of mildew or its smell. Noise level would not be suitable for me use in any living quarters.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Bought this to dry sub-floor at basement ceiling level before installing hardwood floors on first floor. Installer wouldn't guarantee installation until we dried out basement. It seems to be working well; easy to drain into exisitng Carrier airhandler drain, too. A fraction the cost of a HVAC installer's unit
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Have only had unit for 3 weeks and while emptying water out the foam flotation device that cuts the unit off when bucket is full just fell out with the water into the sink. I thought it might just snap back into place but then realized a piece had broken off. I really liked this unit up till then so they are sending me a new one and hopefully it will give me years of trouble free use. So, the jury is still out for now.

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
We have been using this dehumidifier for 3 weeks, so these are just initial impressions.
The unit seems to run a lot to keep the humidity at the 55% level we have set - we haven't received an electricity bill yet, so I don't know what effect it will have on our utility costs. Other dehumidifiers we have owned did not run so much to keep the 55% humidity level.
It is quieter than other dehumidifiers, but don't expect not to hear it - there is definitely fan noise, even on low fan. I wouldn't recommend it for a living area - we have it on the unfinished side of the basement.
The hose hook-up is very convenient and it is easy to switch between the bucket and hose.
I've given it 4 stars, deducting a star based on the noise level and the amount it seems to run.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Does the job I bought it for and it does it alot more quietly that the replaced model. Would be nice to see a top loading air filter but I am very happy with this purchase.

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I'm happy with this product. I researched dehumidifiers and this one had good ratings and reviews. I especially like the different fan settings (helps determine the noise), the digital humidity settings and the air filter that can be washed. But when the water pan is full, it is very full, and heavy. It is hard for me to empty because the water is very close to the top of the pan and it ends up sloshing over the top. I have trouble pouring it into a regular sink - I have to dump it into a laundry tub (or bath tub). The solution to this is empty the pan before it gets too full, or drain it right into a floor drain. I think it's worth it - the pros of this dehumidifier far outweigh the water pan problem.
I was reluctant to order on line because my last dehumidifier quit working and I really needed a new one right away. But Abt had the product that I wanted so I decided to take a chance and order from them. I'm glad I did. I am really happy with the speed of shipping and their obvious commitment to customer service. I hope I can do business with them again.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Basement dried out withon 2 days. Smells better too.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I have been impressed with this unit so far. All of the previous reviews of the product were correct -- it is quiet and efficient. It did a great job of significantly lowering the humidity (dropped it 20% overnight) within a closed basement room. The unit had to be elevated on a small table in order to use the drain hose hook-up. Otherwise, it continued to drain into the pan. That's actually a safety feature that should ensure no flooding if the drain hose clogs up. We're thinking about getting a second one for another area of the basement. It's a large basement, so I didn't expect just one 65-pint unit to be enough.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Our guesthouse has no A/C so the dehumidifier helps to keep the humidity down. We have a direct line leading outside for the drainage. It seems to be working just fine.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
[...] THE PRODUCT IS EXCELLENT AND FILLS THE BUCKET FAST AT LOW SPEED
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
The GE Gray 65 pint works as described. Pan is a bit awkward to use, but easy to get the knack. I use it in a very spacious finished lower level, 3 sides below grade, 4th side all glass. This unit handles the humidity load with ease, and I move it around to keep the space comfortably balanced.
If it continues to perform this way for a few years (actual use is only about 3 months per year), I'll be pleased. So far, it's fine.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Very easy to set up. The attachment to a hose is great. It is doing a great job in our basement.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
2,000sq ft basement started at 90%RH. Down to 65% after 3 weeks by gage on unit. Down to 57% using a separate humidistat.

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
ABT has been great to work with, but the GE unit I received has not performed very well.
I am sending it back for a replacement, perhaps it is defective. It is only removing 24 pints/day instead of the rated 60 pints/day.
It appears to go into defrost cycle very often 3/ hour and when it does, the unit is not removing humidity.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
The humidity control works fairly well to turn off the unit periodically, but I found it necessary to set it at 60%. Below that level created constant 24/7 function. This is our second one of these units.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
It runs more or less continuously in my basement study.
I had a question about the shut-off behavior. Customer service responded promptly by e-mail with a clear, concise answer.

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Background: we installed this in our 2914 SF unfinished basement in a hot & humid July.
Before we bought this dehumidifier we measured 73% relative humidity at 78F in the basement, using a digital hygrometer-thermometer. We set it up and connected a drain hose to existing condensate pump. After 24 hours of continuous run, the basement was 50% RH. After 2nd day, it was 43% and after 3rd day it was 41%, where it stabilized. For comparison purposes, the main level of our single level house (with AC running quite a bit) is at 55% RH (78F), so the basement is now the driest area in the house.
I recommend hooking up the drain hose, either to gravity drain out of the house or into a condensate pump. Since we have AC in the basement, we already had a pump for the AC condensation water, so it was very convenient to let the dehumidifier drain into that. Otherwise you'll be emptying the built-in bucket frequently.
I was very surprised how much it reduced the RH in such a short time. The basement is much more comfortable now.
It is moderately loud but it's not any louder than the AC system. I find the sound very pleasant. If you had this in a bedroom, it would make a very nice sound machine (sounds like white noise). If you were going to be watching TV or something nearby, you'd want to turn it off, then back on when you're done.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I am sending the second of these back. I really wanted it to work to replace an older noisy unit that I think is failing. After more than two days, neither unit dropped the humidity at all. I could see a little drip of water from the hose, but it never budged from the level from which it started. Oddly, neither unit would shut off if the bucket was removed (toggling the switch by hand didn't help, either). I'm wondering if there is a connection. Abt is great about the return, but I really don't have the patience to try another one.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I use this to keep the basement dry. Works very well. I've only had this for 3 weeks so I can't comment on longevity. My last one (Whirlpool) lasted just over a year then stopped removing humidity so I returned that to [@] I would suggest when purchasing Consumer goods today that you use a credit card that doubles the manufactures warranty.Ken
Delivery was was fast...4 days from when I placed the order. The dehumidifer arrived well packed and in good condition. I used the chat live feature with ABT and was quite satisified. I will most likey use them again in the future.

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I use this dehumidifier to dehumidify my den. It is too darn efficient. It is making the den into the Sahara. I am having to empty the water pan sometimes twice in 24 hours. I am very glad I purchased this item. It is more than I expected.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I bought this to replace another brand that broke after 1 year of use. The GE unit was much easier to hook up the external hose. And it works quickly in my unfinished basement. For energy efficiency it automatically shuts off after the relative humidity stays below the setting for a set period. I'm very pleased.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Have had for about 2 months. Remove lots of water, controls are easy to use. Does a great job.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
In finished basement. Keeps humidity comfortable.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Got this as a replacement for a 45pt LG unit in the basement. The summer months seem to overwhelm the LG where lots of frost will build up on the unit. This unit does a good job and does not seem to work as hard. It is also much quieter than the LG.
The only complaint is the hose attachment for continuous run is on the side of the unit instead of the rear.
As always, excellent service from ABT

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
For a dehumidifier of this capacity this unit is fairly quiet. Certainly not something I would want in the living room, but in a backroom its perfect. Its been very reliable and EXTREMELY good at pulling moisture out of the air. Here in texas if you have mold allergies you need one to reduce the humidity in your house so mold doesn't grow in the spring. GREAT PRODUCT!!!
It took three days to drop the humidity in my entire house by 15 percent. At that point I was at around 40 percent and the air felt perfect. So you're aware if you've never used a dehumidifier before they do produce some heat.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Very efficient at removing water. The unit draws approximately 550W during operation, about the same as a conventional dehumidifier, but removes substantially more water in the same amount of time. The water pan becomes filled after about one day. Emptying the water pan can be messy. Exhaust air temperature rise is about 18°F. The noise level is moderate but constant. Easy to lift or roll around. Made in China.

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I plugged this in for my 2200 square foot non conditioned basement. It started out at 65+% humidity and 5 days later it was down to 50%. I hooked it up to direct drain to a floor drain so it is maintenance free. I set it for 45% on the middle fan speed and although it hasn't reached the 45% mark yet the basement is significantly drier.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Very Satisfactory and Effective
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
[...] The "carrying handle" that lifts out of the top of the unit was a pleasant surprise. Others don't have a handle. It puts out quite a bit of warm air and the exhaust is out of the top of the unit which tends to warm up the area in which it is used. This will serve well in the winter months. Overall, I'm pleased with the look and effectiveness. Time will be the real judge.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Easy to use and set up, useful anywhere but particularly in the basement where 65 pints of water can accumulate quickly during this rainy spring. Looks good and rolls around but water pan for 65 pints is a bit heavy and awkward. My skills will improve I'm sure seeing my basement return to its usual dry self!
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier is great for our walkout basement. It pulls a tremendous amount of water from the air and is amazingly quiet. It makes using the basement living space much more enjoyable. The only negative I can find is that it does put off a lot of heat, but that's not so bad since the basement generally stays quite cool.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I've had a number of dehumidifiers over the past 25 years but this is the best. Excellent design, no vibration, rolls easily, external water level indicator is very handy, water bucket has top carrying handle for easy one handed carrying like a small suitcase, beeps when full which I can hear on first floor with it operating in basement.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
I use my dehumidifier in my very wet basement to prevent mold, mildew and smell that would damage many items I have stored there. Every time it rains, water seeps in several places in my 100+ year old rock basement. During the Spring I run it on "Continuous" and attach a regular garden hose to it with the other end over a floor drain.

I will only buy this dehumidifier from now on.. It is quiet but does an incredible job of getting moisture out of the air quickly. It even signals when it is full. It is definitely worth the price. I've had the cheaper ones and they do not do as good a job and then die after a year.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier is so quiet you barely hear it run. It signals when it is full and is very easy to empty. Having the top airflow rather than the back let's you put the unit right next to a wall. This is the only one I will buy from now on and we have been through many of them.

I have this in my basement with a drain hose going to a floor drain. The sound of the unit from the main floor is barely audible.
Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Given the noise level, I would recommend it only for basements. It has been running 24/7 for 2 weeks and I need to empty container once a day. Water container is awkward to empty. Wheels make it easy to maneuver.

Comments about GE GE Gray 65 Pint Dehumidifier:
Compared to my previous dehumidifier, this GE unit runs very quietly. My other dehumidifier lasted four years and as the years passed it became louder and louder. This may be due to that unit not having a removable air filter. This GE unit does and it has a light on the electronic panel to remind you when it needs cleaned (every 250 hours of operation). I don't mind cleaning a filter every few weeks if it prolongs the life of the machine and keeps it running quietly. Although I've only had this GE dehumidifier for a few weeks, I'm very satisfied with it's performance to date and would recommend it to others.

this unit is semi-permanently installed in a large vacation home. It has no problem keeping humidity levels low enough to prevent musty odors, yet quiet enough while we're there.
