Comments about GE GE White 40 Pint Dehumidifier:
Purchased to replace a failing Kenmore unit that never worked to our satisfaction. The new GE unit is compact and efficient, constantly pulling the humidity from the air. We like the digital humidity display, the "clean filter" light, and the fact that it vents out the top and not the side.
On the downside, the bucket is small and would need to be emptied often. We attached a hose that runs to a drain (much better soution), but some water still accumulates in the bucket and eventually leads the unit to shut down when the bucket is full (takes a couple weeks). The unit is probably not the quietest on the market, especially at higher fan speeds.
We are happy with the purchase. In hindsight, perhaps a larger unit would have been better for our basement because this one runs almost constantly during the summer to keep the humidity at 60% or lower.

One must wait two full summers before really knowing if the product is good. My experience has been that most dehumidifiers bust out about one or two summers for some[*]reason. Therefore, if the product makes is through 3 summers - then it's good.
ABT delivered the product on time and in good shape!

Just hooked up the hose and ran it to my floor drain. It shuts off when it reaches the desired humidity level or it can run continuously. Very quiet and really moves a lot of air without a lot of noise. ABT was very quick and accurate. [...]

I bought this dehumidifier to replace a Soleus unit about the same size that only lasted two years before it stopped working. [...] This unit is a little louder, but seems to work well and produce a lot of water. I'll be happy if it works for more than four years!

This is a quiet machine that is very effective. I initially had reservations that the 40 pint might be too small, but the airflow out the top makes it very effective. Most others dump the airflow side ways which doesn't mix the air very well. I love the humidity display which lists the actual humidity. I highly recommend.
