We bought it for our walk in closet which had a mold problem. We live close to the water and our house has been very damp. It has kept the closet dry and helped with the rest of the first floor as well. I just run it for a total of a few hours per week. we're not really sure of the energy use yet since we've only had it a couple of weeks.

We flooded in our crawlspace with the heavy September rains. We needed a dehumidifier to pull the moisture off the concrete walls & floor. It also had to be small enough to fit through the crawlspace access door. This product was lightweight and easy to handle and worked effectively on the moisture. It was also fairly quiet.

This appliance runs like a top. It's been amazing to see how much water it pulls out of the air every day.
I'm very happy I purchased this.
After my initial order, I received notice that the dehumidifier was on backorder. I wasn't too happy and sent a message to customer service. They were very prompt in getting back to me and I felt they were sincere in their concern with my issues.
The appliance arrived a little later than what I'd wanted, but not real late.
It came in good condition and ready to go.

This is the second Whirlpool dehumidifier I've bought. The first one died 20 days after the warranty ended. Whirlpool's preferred service provider was going to charge me [$]to come to the house to look at it - and that's without parts and labor!So why by another? Abt's extended warranty. If this one dies in 385 days like the last one did, they'll fix it for me. In fact, if it dies anytime in the next four years, they'll fix it for me.In summary, the extended warranty is a MUST for this item.

This works well to dry out my damp basement. Positives are it is light and easy to move. Negatives are the water pan is on the small side so daily emptying of the water pan is necessary on damp/rainy days. Not a good choice if you want a "set it and forget it" product but fine if it's something you will pass by frequently (so you remember to empty it).

The only thing I wish was a way to hook a hose to this so I don't have too keep emptying out the tray.

This is a nice looking, solid unit. I like the ease of the front bucket to empty unit. It fits properly, no guessing if you put it back properly like other units I've used in past. Quiet enough and controls easy to read and use.

Consumer Reports said it was quiet, and it is quieter than most I've heard. It could be quieter (and I would rate it 5 stars were it so), but for use in a basement, it is quiet enough. It dries nicely a basement about 15 by 35 ft. The bucket is a bit small, but it will hold the water from about one day's run in my basement. The bucket-full sensor works. The connection for a drain hose is well located and does not require cutting into the bucket.

I wanted a fairly small and inexpensive dehumidifier for my apartment. Everything else in the market is too big and expensive or small and ineffective. I always liked Whirpool's appliances and after reading a few positive reviews about this product (haven't come across a negative review anyway), I decided to try it and I'm loving it.

I love this dehumidifier. I was worried about buying one because I read so many reviews of faulty ones that broke, were difficult to use or didn't work. This one was a great price, works like a charm, and has really resolved our summer humidity problem in our small (700 sq. ft.) apartment. Doors that used to stick close easily and we are all more comfortable. We have been running it continuously for a little over a month and no problems yet. It's a little noisy, but we have it in the same room as our TV and you need to raise the TV volume a bit but it's not terrible.
