Large amounts of ice for froze drinks. The product states ice in 7 minutes but even using small cubes and starting with cold water that is not even close. It is listed as portable but is too bulky and heavy to be portable. Is sold as a clear ice maker, but you need to use pre-filtered water and the ice is not clear. There are similar, more portable products under other company names for much less money

I had a non-clear ice maker and I could never get the icky taste out of it. It's worth the extra money to get this one. Very simple to use right out of the box.

Works fast espcially if you start with refrigerated water. We use it almost everyday as we use a lot of ice. There is not much difference in the sizes of the cubes but that is not a great drawback. It would be helpful if the storage area was colder so that the cubes aren't so wet when we put them into the freezer. That way they wouldn't stick together. Anyway, overall, great product!
As usual with Abt, service overall is terrific! The only problem we had is that the ice maker came without instruction booklet. I had a live chat with customer service and was told we would be receiving it within a short time. As of this date we have not received it. Luckily, Waring includes an instruction book on their website so we were able to obtain one by printing it out.

CLOUDY ICE CUBES ARE CLOUDY BECAUSE THEY CONTAIN TRAPPED OXYGEN WHICH IMPARTS A PUNGENT TASTE TO DRINKS. OTHER CLEAR ICE MAKERS ARE OVER $1000 AND HAVE TO BE CONNECTED (PLUMBED) INTO A WATER SOURCE WHICH CONTAINS CHEMICALS. WITH THIS SYSTEM, YOU CAN ADD YOUR OWN PURE WATER FOR THE MAXIMUM IN PURITY AND TASTE. I PREFER THE USE OF DISTILLED WATER. SINCE THE SYSTEM IS NOT A FREEZER, THE ICE CUBES MUST BE REMOVED AND STORED IN A FREEZER. I SIMPLY PUT THEM INTO THE AUTOMATIC ICE DISPENSER IN THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT OF MY REFRIGERATOR. GREAT SYSTEM. I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR A LONG TIME.

I have been looking for a portable clear ice maker for a long time and Waring is the only company that makes it. There are lots of brands that makes portable ice maker for half the price but non of them makes clear ice. If you love your ice to be crystal clear but do not want to pay over [$] for a professional under-the-counter ice maker than your only choice is this one. This machine is very well build and very easy to use. This unit does make a bit of noise when the ice are falling off the tray so you don't want to put this in your bedroom or dorm.
