Comments about Dyson Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld Vacuum:

The suction is great and it's ease of use is impressive. I have heard negative comments about battery life but I've not had it long enough to know. It is by far the best hand vac I have owned.

Comments about Dyson Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld Vacuum:

The battery life (according to the instructions) is just 6 minutes - and that's the truth. If you are using the vacuum and turn it off for just a second, it will not turn back on. It is easy to empty and lightweight, and the suction seems good, the battery life is too limited for the price of the product.

Comments about Dyson Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld Vacuum:

I used this to vacuum the sofa cushions and the floor close to the walls. It gets heavy after 5-10 minutes of use. Which is all I've been able to use it as the battery ONLY holds a charge for that long. I purchased because I wanted the big suction power and longer battery time. Suction power is OK, not as good as expected. I'm hoping if I contact customer service it will be replaced or at a minimum a new battery will be provided. If this is the norm, I would say don't spend the money. =(

Abt Electronics Response: Thanks for the feedback. The battery life will last 5-6 minutes of constant suction before having to be recharged. If the unit was purchased at Abt please contact our Customer Service Manager at 888-228-5800.

Comments about Dyson Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld Vacuum:

I knew before I bought the Root 6 that its battery life was about 6 minutes. After thinking about when I would use it to pickup fur from my two Samoyeds, I felt 6 minutes was fine. It is. I find that my average attack on pet fur lasts about 2 minutes and then I return the Root 6 to its handy holder/recharger. Sure beats dragging out the DC25 to chase a few clumps of fur.

Great overall - works for only 5-6 minutes when fully charged but works really great.
Used my points on this so I can't really say I paid for it directly.
One of the best products ever!

Comments about Dyson Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld Vacuum:

It has good suction, but needs longer maintenance intervals for the filter; 3 - 6 months is too frequent. A redesign of its appearance to make it less bulky is in order. It looks too much like a Star Wars storm trooper weapon.

Comments about Dyson Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld Vacuum:

You get approx. 6 minutes of battery life. If you can get past that, this is the portable vacuum for you.

This lives up to the Dyson name when it comes to suction power. For those of you that have used a Dyson, you will know what I mean. It picks up dirt much faster than a regular portable, which means it cleans more area in less time. Therefore, the six minutes of power is usually sufficient for the area that I am using a portable vacuum for. Otherwise I would just pull out the full size one.

One con is that it can get a little heavy after about 5 minutes of use. So you're pretty much ready to stop by the time the battery runs out.

There is no power degregation when the battery dies. It runs at full power until it just shuts off when the battery dies.

Battery charges is about 30 minutes. I find that quite acceptable for my use. There are 3 LED's that show the battery level when it's in use and when it's charging.

You can wall mount the charger, which will hold the Dyson upright. I have yet to wall mount mine.

Like the full size Dyson, it's a breeze to empty. Just hold the unit over a gargabe can and press down on the red release lever located on the handle. The bottom of the collection cup swivels down and the dirt falls out. Snap the bottom back in place and you're done!

Comments about Dyson Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld Vacuum:

If they can make cordless power tools that run for a long time, why is it that they could not get the battery in this vaccum to last more than five mins.? or create a motor that would have some vaccum power?
