Quite happy so far, but I have not had the time yet to fully configure it. Setup is quite a task using the GUI. It would be great if there was a web interface to edit settings using the ethernet port.

Great machine, I wonder about the upscaling feature for video, so far hasn't worked out.

I haven't wired in the internet yet, but look forward to linking up and streaming from the net.

Manual is woefully inadequate for ordinary people, the potential is good, but I may have to obtain an associates to unlock the sound and video nirvana I am seeking.

A great receiver, but definitely challenging to set up and use. The remote is horrible--be sure to pick up a Harmony Remote or other similar product to make life easier.

Comments about Denon Denon 7.1 Channel Home Theater MultiMedia AV Receiver In Black:

This is an overall excellent home theater receiver for use with today's high end HDTV based home entertainment systems. It is very easy to set up using HDMI inputs and output. It uses an included microphone to automatically determine the acoustics of your room and adjust the output sound accordingly for initial setup. Provides excellent sound/power for the money. I bought this unit to replace an older Denon receiver that provided many years of trouble free service, and I expect this unit to be as reliable based on my past experience.

I got this reciever to replace my Yamaha HTR-5630 a and am using Polk M50 as fronts M30 as rear and CS1 as center with a PSW125 for my Sub. And I never go over -17.5 on the volume. I have a Dish Network 622 High Def DVR and a PS3 running through the 3808 the 622 is connected with component and fiber optic and the PS3 is connected with HDMI. The toughest thing about this is the use/programming the remote to easily operate all the equipment though once that is done it is very easy to operate. The Audessy set-up was also very easy to do but time consuming, the GUI for OSD is very nice. The sound is very nice and powerful I am watching maany of the films I own again because this reciever really lets you hear everything the it was meant to be. Even sounds I have never heard before. 7 Channel stereo is really nice too. I cant wait to get AC/DC on bluray or SACD. [...]

Comments about Denon Denon 7.1 Channel Home Theater MultiMedia AV Receiver In Black:

I was looking for a new system that will handle the latest audio formats (Dolby True HD, etc) as well as future proof myself a little with HDMI 1.3a, without breaking my wallet but giving me quality sound. Denon does it all with the quality I've known from having Denon equipment before. All in all it's the best bang for the buck system out there.

The 3808ci was exactly what I was hoping. It has 4 hdmi inputs. Background- I had a pre/pro and a 5-channel amp and 2-channel amp setup. I got tired of the heat and the wires, and have been biding my time waiting for the right AVR to jump back on that wagon. The Denon fit the bill nicely. I use it for 98% Home Theater, including TV watching. It never has problems with audio flags, and the scaler seems to work nicely. The sound is superb. I have an acoustically treated room and the Audyssey MultiEQ made it sound even better. The sound processing and reproduction are sublime. The cost was competative[...] A+, in my book. Very happy with the 3808ci, and happy I bought it here.

Almost 5 stars with firmware upgrade

Comments about Denon Denon 7.1 Channel Home Theater MultiMedia AV Receiver In Black:

Used primarily for home theater and casual music listening.

The Good: Great sound (slightly better than my old 3805); Audyssey (once configured properly) sounds good (step up from 3805 room EQ); great flexibility with set-up/controls; network functionality is nice for MP3's, internet readio & firmware upgrades; "Restorer" DSP is fantastic; web based set-up is handy; video up-conversion from 480i to 1080p is great.

The Bad: Audyssey auto set-up was off on speaker distances and levels; encountered bug that made it impossible to use Audyssey to auto set-up properly for a 6.1 speaker system; has problems deinterlacing 1080i video for 1080p output (looses resolution); internet radio/streaming is buggy; other miscellaneous annoying bugs that will hopefully be fixed by a firmware upgrade (see AVS Forum for more info)

Bottom line: Most of the receiver's issues are fixable with a firmware upgrade. Once that's done, this will be easy to recommend.
